Patent number: 8844765Abstract: An outlet assembly for an aerosol assembly comprises a valve assembly and a metering member. The valve assembly comprises a valve housing, a valve stem defining a stem inlet and a stem outlet, a valve spring, and a valve seal. Movement of the valve stem from a first stem position to an intermediate stem position disengages the valve stem from the valve seal such that fluid is allowed to flow into the stem inlet and out of the stem outlet. The valve stem displaces the metering member from a first metering position to a second metering position as the valve stem moves from the first stem position to the intermediate stem position. Movement of the valve stem causes the valve stem to move relative to the metering member such that the metering member covers the stem inlet to prevent flow of fluid into the stem inlet and out of the stem outlet.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2013Date of Patent: September 30, 2014Inventor: James A. Patent number: 7494075Abstract: A pressure regulating valve reduces the increased internal pressure in an aerosol spray can, filled with compressed gas, to a working pressure level for a spray valve (12). A regulating piston (52) is kept in equilibrium by a restoring force, and a sealing point (66, 68) is provided, which is closed at a pressure in the pressure regulation chamber (84) that is above the regulated pressure level. To prevent the precision of regulation from being adulterated by the decreasing internal pressure of the can as its contents are progressively withdrawn, a sealing means (86, 66; 67) is proposed, which seals off one free end of the piston (52, 74) from the internal pressure of the can and the regulated pressure. The variable internal pressure of the can is therefore no longer able to act on any axial face of the piston (52), and despite what may be a smaller piston face area, the precision of regulation is improved.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2003Date of Patent: February 24, 2009Assignee: Thomas GmbHInventor: Heinz Schneider

Patent number: 7464839Abstract: One disadvantage during delivery of products such as foams, for instance shaving foam or gel, self-foaming products and other products that are applied with a pressurized system from a conventional, pressurized dispenser container with the aid of known dispenser heads that can be inserted into the delivery valve of the dispenser container is that the pressurized product remaining in the delivery channel continues to be pressed out in small amounts in an uncontrolled manner after utilization despite the fact that the delivery valve is closed. In order to eliminate said disadvantage, the dispenser head (1) is configured with an additional closing device (1?) that automatically opens the delivery hole (3) and automatically closes it after the dispensing process is completed.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2003Date of Patent: December 16, 2008Assignee: RPC Wiko GmbHInventor: Wolfgang Heukamp

Patent number: 6871763Abstract: A gas spray valve permits easy recharging of gas containers after use. The gas spray valve is of considerable strength and rigidity and can be manufactured in a less costly manner. One of the openings of a gas conduit of a valve pin is positioned so that, when the valve pin is in the raised position, the opening is positioned above a second seal ring and, when the valve pin is pushed into a first stop position, the opening is positioned below the second seal ring. When the valve pin is in the raised position, a bottom end of the valve pin is positioned above a first seal ring, and as the result, the interior of a gas container is connected with a metering chamber. When the valve pin is pushed into a second stop position, the opening of the gas conduit is positioned below the first seal ring so that the interior of the gas container communicates with the gas conduit. This permits recharging of the gas container with the gas.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2002Date of Patent: March 29, 2005Assignee: Bio Actis LimitedInventor: Tatsuo Tsutsui

When the valve assembly is opened, the inert gas forces the hardenable material out of the container through the dispensing nozzle. The dispensing nozzle diverts at least a portion of the hardenable material exiting the container to develop a spray suitable for the application of the hardenable material onto the ceiling surface being textured. The hardenable material preferably comprises at least water, filler, binder, and polystyrene particles. The inert gas is preferably nitrogen.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2002Date of Patent: November 4, 2003Assignee: Homax Products, Inc.Inventors: Donald J. Stern, James A. Tryon, Eivind Clausen

Publication number: 20030127464Abstract: Valve stems for use in an aerosol metering valve are described herein. The valve stems include structures designed to limit the likelihood and extent to which a gasket can intrude into an opening in the valve stem. The valve stems described herein also limit the likelihood and extent of damage to the gasket caused by repeated use of the metering valve.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2002Publication date: July 10, 2003Inventors: Andrew M. Publication number: 20030121935Abstract: Gaskets for use in a metering valve are described herein. The gaskets include one or more gasket-protective components that are designed to limit the likelihood and extent to which the gasket can intrude into an opening such as the channel opening of a valve stem. The one or more gasket protective-components also limit the likelihood and extent of damage caused by repeated use of the metering valve.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2002Publication date: July 3, 2003Inventors: Cathleen M. Patent number: 6474563Abstract: A spraying device for dispensing electrostatic liquid droplets includes a container holding a liquid at one end, and having a nozzle assembly with an aperture at another end. The nozzle assembly includes a longitudinal hollow tube terminating in a metallic structure. The metallic structure includes a metallic base plate having at least one aperture formed therein for fluid communication with the hollow tube. The longitudinal hollow tube includes an end inserted in the liquid. A charge accumulator disposed in the liquid accumulates electrostatic charges. A wire conductor between the base plate and the charge accumulator transfers the electrostatic charges from the liquid to the nozzle assembly.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2001Date of Patent: November 5, 2002Assignee: Sarnoff CorporationInventors: Timothy Allen Pletcher, Peter John Zanzucchi, Robert Richard Demers, Howard Christopher Rivenburg

Patent number: 6415964Abstract: A valve assembly is disclosed for use in an aerosol spray can capable of spraying viscous materials or materials with large particulates without clogging or packing like traditional aerosol spray cans designed for spraying texture materials. The valve opening is located at the bottom of the container rather than at the top, thus allowing highly-viscous materials, such as a fire suppressant material, or materials having large particulates, such as stucco, to be sprayed from an aerosol spray can without clogging of the valves. The valve assembly can spray materials that more closely resemble the original surface texture found on textured and stucco-covered walls and ceilings of buildings and structures.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2001Date of Patent: July 9, 2002Assignee: Spraytex, Inc.Inventor: John R.
