Abstract: A liquid container has a removable bottom lid and a drain opening formed in the center of the lid. The drain opening is normally closed with a displaceable drain valve that frictionally engages the opening wall and prevents escape of liquid from the container. When the valve is moved upwardly, unseating the valve, the liquid is allowed to drain from the container. The bottom lid is secured to the container wall by a pair of removable pins extending perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis of the container. The lid carries two or more support members that rest on the bottom of the high-pressure processing chamber to prevent damage or scratching of the inner wall of the pressure chamber. The dimensions of the supporting members and the pins do not exceed the inner diameter of the pressure chamber.

The cap also includes a valve movable between a first position wherein the passageway is blocked and a second position wherein the passageway is at least partly unblocked, the valve being biased towards the first position. Furthermore, the cap includes an actuator mounted to the body and engaging the valve. Selective control of the state of the valve is associated with movement of the actuator in a different direction than for securing the valve in the open position. The combination of movements required to lock the valve in the open position is sufficiently complex to reduce its probability of opening unintentionally. Abstract: A dispensing valve for fluids is disclosed which provides for ease of use by requiring only a minimal force exerted on the valve actuator to maintain the valve in an open position. A resilient valve actuator having the characteristics of a nonlinear spring is provided at an actuator end of the valve body and operatively connected to a plunger, with the opposite end of the plunger having mounted thereon a resilient valve seal. An intermediate discharge outlet is positioned between the actuator end and the valve seal, such discharge outlet being placed in fluid communication with the interior of a fluid container to which the valve is attached when the valve is in an open position. A valve port wall is positioned between the valve seal and the dispensing chamber providing a plurality of ports for restricting the flow of fluid through the valve body when the valve is in an open position.

  • Patent number: 6299036
Abstract: A two-piece, self-cleansing dispensing closure operable with one hand is disclosed attachable to containers with liquid product. The dispensing closure is an assembly of a closure top and a closure base which are slidably interconnected so that the closure top is laterally movable to open and close the dispensing closure to dispense product from the side of the closure through a dispensing opening. The closure base comprises a hollow tubular enclosure which defines a dispensing channel adapted to receive a plug member on the closure top and an attachment means on the closure base and closure top which allows the slidable interconnection of said pieces. To dispense product from a container attached to the dispensing closure, the closure top is moved laterally away from the dispensing opening so that the plug member slides within the dispensing channel to a position where the dispensing opening is uncovered and product can flow from the container to the dispensing channel and out of the dispensing opening.

  • Patent number: 6253972
Abstract: A liquid valve particularly suited for dispensing of glue at high repetition rate has a solenoid-retracted pin that normally engages a valve seat to close the valve. Glue under pressure enters the chamber in which the pin operates, close to the valve seat. To seal against the flow of pressurized glue up along the pin toward the solenoid, and also to exert a light valve closing force on the pin, a thin metal bellows member is sealed and fixed to the pin near its lower end, at one end of the bellows, and to a connector within which the pin slides, at an opposite, upper end of the bellows. The geometry of the valve seat and the valve closure end of the pin is such that only a very slight retraction of the valve pin opens the valve sufficiently to deliver glue at full velocity through the valve orifice. The valve is capable of accurate glue dispensing through a wide range of operating pressure.
