  • Patent number: 6161728
Abstract: A dispensing closure contains a foil piercing system. By opening the closure (2), the foil piercing system (6) automatically perforates the foil seal (9) to the bottle on which the closure is mounted, releasing the bottled materials to flow through the closure's dispensing orifice. The closure also includes a tamper evident strip (7) that, unless removed, inhibits opening the closure.

  • Patent number: 6120211
Abstract: An air distribution valve comprises a gimbal mounted flow directing nozzle connected to a feed conduit and selectively and pivotally advanceable about at least two intersecting and perpendicular axes into alignment with one of four outlet openings in a base plate each opening to an outlet conduit. The gimbal includes an outer gimbal ring supported in horizontal alignment above the base plate and an inner gimbal ring pivotally mounted to and inside the outer gimbal ring and rotatable about a first axis. The flow directing nozzle is pivotally mounted on mounting arms pivotally connected to the inner gimbal ring and pivotal about a second axis which intersects and extends perpendicular to the first axis. When used in a wave generating system, each outlet conduit communicates with one of four caissons at one end of the wave pool for selectively delivering pressurized air to the caisson from a centrifugal fan to force water out of the caissons in a selected order to create a desired wave pattern.

  • Patent number: 6013315
Abstract: A dispense nozzle (10), having a narrow oblong orifice (14), is positioned over and near the surface of the substrate (22), close to the edge of the substrate. While the substrate is rotating, the nozzle dispenses fluid through the narrow oblong orifice onto the substrate surface, starting from near the outer edge (24) moving toward the substrate's rotational center (26). The narrow oblong orifice may have lips of unequal size to help direct fluid flow. A controlled rate of acceleration is maintained for the rate of translation of the nozzle across the substrate surface. Once the nozzle approaches the substrate's rotational center, the nozzle is raised to a higher height above the surface of the substrate while continuing to dispense fluid. Then the dispense stream of fluid is terminated, and the substrate is rapidly accelerated to a predetermined spin speed to evenly distribute the fluid over the surface of the substrate to a uniform film of desired thickness.

  • Patent number: 5697534
Abstract: A compliant nozzle assembly for being mounted with respect to an extrusion module of an extrusion apparatus, wherein the nozzle thereof compliantly yields when forceably encountering a workpiece. A nozzle having a hemispheric base is biased against a seal washer of an adapter member so as to be pivotably sealed therewith. A locator bearing has an annular bearing bevel which is biasably seated into an annular seat bevel of the adapter member. When the nozzle forcefully strikes a workpiece such that the nozzle is caused to be pivoted at the seal bearing, the annular bearing bevel will become unseated from its normally seated position in the annular seat bevel. This displacement results in the locator bearing traveling axially along the nozzle toward its tip, having the effect of causing the annular bearing bevel to the returned to its normally seated position in the annular seat bevel.
