  • Patent number: 4827578
Abstract: The harness comprises a carrying strap and a gripper. The carrying strap is formed from a soft material. Another strap formed from a stronger, less resilient fabric is attached to the soft strap at uniformly spaced intervals and in such a way that the second strap forms loops at its points of attachment to the soft strap. With this arrangement, the soft strap can only stretch until the loops become taut. Thereafter, the stronger second strap carries the load and this prevents the soft strap from tearing when heavy loads are carried. The gripper is formed from a resilient material and comprises a first plate and a second plate which are connected together by an arcuate web. One of the plates of the gripper has a flat body contacting surface and a loop is positioned in the arcuate web between the first and second plates for connection to a device to be carried. A plurality of pins are formed on at least one plate of the gripper.

  • Patent number: 4823998
Abstract: A sling assembly for use in carrying shoulder weapons, such as hunting rifles, in a horizontal ready position. A sling strap is connected to sling swivels mounted on the weapon in the conventional positions at the bottom of the butt stock and forestock, by loops which encircle the butt stock and the front portion of the weapon. The rear part of the sling strap is fixed to the rear loop, which is long enough to surround the butt stock and to slip rearwardly off the butt stock as the weapon is raised to the shooter's shoulder. The front end of the strap is free to hang down beside the front portion of the weapon with only the front loop around the top of the weapon, where it does not interfere with use of the sights. Various ways are disclosed to attach the loops to sling swivels or to a handguard on the front portion of the weapon. In one embodiment a slide fastener holds the sling strap at a desired length but is adjustable using only one hand.

  • Patent number: 4819844
Abstract: A carrying strap for a weapon, attached to the weapon in such manner that it forms a loop intended to be kept across one shoulder and the back, whereby the weapon can be held in front of the person supported by the carrying strap, ready to fire. A drawback of all carrying straps is that the weapon is hanging upside down when in the ready-to-fire position. The carrying strap of the invention has, at least at one attachment point, a laterally stiff strap section so that the center of gravity of the weapon, in correct ready-to-fire position, lies below the line defined by the stiffener and the other attachment point.

  • Patent number: 4817835
Abstract: A versatile gun sling is disclosed which allows a gun to be carried either over a person's shoulder or across their back. The gun sling is made of a long strap slit longitudinally. The strap is broader on the end which connects to a gun's buttstock, allowing optimum weight distribution across the bearer's back. The gun sling's length is adjusted by folding the strap so the opposite end of the strap may be connected to the strap, forming a loop in the strap. The gun sling is attached to a gun by two swivel rings held in loops in the strap on each strap end. One swivel ring resides in the loop formed in the strap by folding the strap to adjust the length; the second loop is formed by folding the buttstock end region of the strap onto itself and fastening it in place.
