Release of the cover strap causes movement of the hinge by the spring to position the magazine in a position for facilitating one-handed loading of the magazine into an automatic pistol by the user. The cover is formed with equally spaced flexible tabs each having respective buttons for slidably engaging into holes on the body, for locking and unlocking the cover to the body. The cover is removed and replaced with the user using only one hand.

The storage box can be firmly attached to a waist belt without dropping and without taking off the waist belt. In addition, when in use on a waist belt, the storage box can freely move up and down for accommodating a user's movements without causing any discomfort to the user.

When additional protection for the bag is desired the pocket is opened and the cover unfolded from the pocket. The pocket contains the hinge joining the cover to the bag. The cover then extends around the bag to provide a water resistant covering extending over at least those sides of the bag which have openable flaps through which leakage may occur. The cover extends around but does not cover the harness so that the harness is still available for its intended use.
