The basic ski carrier comprises a carrier worn around the waist and below the small of the back in combination with a shoulder harness assembly. The skis and poles are mounted rigidly to a locator on the carrier and secured at the top via a quick release strap on the shoulder harness. The entire carrier is lifted, secured around the waist, and the shoulder straps slipped on and adjusted. In this configuration the skis and poles are positioned at a precise angle safely away from making contact with the skier's head and legs while standing or walking. Patent number: 4955519Abstract: The ski case is a slim depth rectangular container designed to store, transport, and act as an overall ski equipment handling device. The case has two relatively asymmetrical major components--the top being the closure component of a ski equipment storage device as well as a sled to enable the transport of skis, boots, poles, and other miscellaneous ski-related material from the vehicle parking lot to the base lodge or elsewhere without the inconvenience and difficulty associated with carrying such items on one's person. The lower half of the case acts as the support and pivot for the top half as well as the mechanism for carrying the ski case on a motor vehicle roof or trunk. The lower half has a quick disconnect male-female dovetail system for easy and rapid removal from the auto roof top. The two components are lined with a velcro attached foam rubber which acts as the frictional support and restraint of the ski case contents.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1989Date of Patent: September 11, 1990Inventor: Keith E. Patent number: 4953773Abstract: A ski carrier is in the form of a generally rigid tube of arcuate cross-sectional shape. The tube is divided into a plurality of compartments so that the skis as well as other equipment such as the ski poles may be stored in individual compartments. The skis are mounted in their compartments in contact with the inner surface of the tube to assure that the bindings of the skis are spaced from the walls of the tubes. One end of the tube is openable for insertion and removal of the skis and other equipment.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 1989Date of Patent: September 4, 1990Inventor: John G. Wirth

Patent number: 4942994Abstract: A ski boot holder which comprises a collapsible handle attached to a heel frame which is connected to elastic toe retaining means. The toe retaining means may include a toe retaining frame, which helps to hold the boots in proper alignment in the holder. The heel frame and toe frame may be designed to collapse for easy and compact storage, or carrying in the skier's pocket when the ski boot holder is not in use. A collapsible carrying handle is provided which extends upwardly between the ankle portions of the ski boots so that the boots are conveniently carried with the soles horizontally disposed. This orientation of the boots facilitates the storage of the assembly under an airplane seat, on a shelf at a ski lodge, or on a closet floor.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1988Date of Patent: July 24, 1990Inventor: Lawrence D. Sterenberg

Patent number: 4940175Abstract: A car-top carrier (1) with supporting elements (3) which can be connected to the top of a car and at least one supporting member (2) connected to the car top by the supporting elements, on which at least one holding member (6) for the objects to be transported is disposed, is designed in such a way that the influences of wind-resistance can be diminished in case no object is transported in the car-top carrier. A joint (8) is disposed between the supporting member (2) and the holding member (6), with a swiveling axis (10) of the joint extending transversely to the direction of travel (7), and the holding member (6) can be swiveled between a use position and nonuse position about the axis (10).Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1989Date of Patent: July 10, 1990Inventor: Eberhard Tittel

Patent number: 4930671Abstract: A ski-carrier attachment is provided on its lower clamping part with two claws that open in opposite directions. It also has a third claw and plate for securing one of the claws. Mounting the ski-carrier attachment on the carrier bar of an automobile roof carrier is done by placing the ski-carrier attachment on the carrier bar at right angles thereto, so that the carrier bar lies between the two first-mentioned claws. The ski-carrier attachment is then turned through 90.degree. and locked in this position by the plate.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 1988Date of Patent: June 5, 1990Inventor: Tittel, Eberhard
