Abstract: Wipe dispensers are provided wherein particular wipe-gripping and wipe-ripping structures are provided to overcome problems encountered with the prior art. Particularly, gripping and ripping structures are provided to prevent the removal of more than one wipe at a time from a dispenser and to prevent a following wipe from falling back into the interior of a container when separated from a lead wipe being removed from the container. In particular embodiments, structures are provided to avoid pinching an individual's finger when feeding a wipe up through the gripping and ripping structures. In yet other particular embodiments, a boss is provided to prevent wipes from bunching up during the dispensing thereof.

Abstract: The present invention provides a resealable closure system that may be incorporated into a container for storing and dispensing moisture sensitive product, such as a dry wiping substrate and more preferably a dry wipe useful for facial cleansing or the application of make-up. The closure system is not only resealable, but is also substantially watertight as a result of the lid having a sealing flange and an overhang.

Abstract: An apparatus for removing a portion of a protective covering from a drinking straw, including a support mounted on a container for receiving the portion of the protective covering removed from the drinking straw, and an orifice in the support having a shape and size adapted for receiving a drinking straw packaged in a protective covering through the orifice to the extent corresponding to the length of the portion of the covering to be removed from the drinking straw, the orifice positioned in the support to allow the protective covering to be received through the orifice but not withdrawn from the orifice. A related method is also disclosed.

Abstract: A motor-free dunnage conversion system for converting a sheet stock material into a relatively less dense dunnage includes a container having a wall with an opening therethrough, a supply of sheet stock material within the container, and a forming member. The forming member has converging sidewalls that define a passage alignable with the opening in the wall. The forming member is a converging chute having a relatively larger inlet spaced from the outlet, which is relatively smaller than the inlet. The forming member functions to crumple the sheet stock material as a packer draws the sheet stock material through the forming member to form a crumpled strip of dunnage. The forming member has a dimension that is larger than a corresponding dimension of the opening to keep the forming member from escaping the container as the packer pulls the stock material through the forming member.

Abstract: A dispenser for length material comprises a first resiliently biased locking roller and a second locking roller defining a nip therebetween for the passage of length material to be dispensed, the second roller being carried on a frame which upon appropriate movement causes the second roller to move into a locking position in relation to the first locking roller to clamp the length material to prevent unreeling or return of the free end thereto once appropriate cutting of a portion of the length material has been effected.

Abstract: A center-pull dispenser for dispensing paper towels from a continuous roll, wherein each individual towel is separated from an adjoining towel by a plurality of perforations. The dispenser comprises a housing having a housing back and a detachable front cover hingedly connected thereto at the lower periphery of said housing back and front cover for opening and closing the housing, a paper support tray removably connected to a lower portion of the housing back, the tray having a centrally located dispensing nozzle and at least one locking element for releasably locking at least one first hinge element on the lower periphery of the front cover to at least one second hinge element on the lower periphery of the housing back, an opening in the lower periphery of said housing through which the towels are dispensed, and a wall-mounting member for removably mounting the housing back to a wall.

Abstract: A center-pull dispenser for dispensing paper towels from a continuous roll, wherein each individual towel is separated from an adjoining towel by a plurality of perforations. The dispenser comprises a housing having a housing back and a detachable front cover hingedly connected thereto at the lower periphery of said housing back and front cover for opening and closing the housing, a paper support tray removably connected to a lower portion of the housing back and having a centrally located dispensing nozzle, an opening in the lower periphery of the housing through which the towels are dispensed, a detachable wall-mounting member for removably mounting the housing back to a wall, and a locking member for releasably locking the front cover to the housing back and the housing back to the wall-mounting member.

Abstract: One possible embodiment of the invention could be a de-sheathing apparatus and a methodology of its use in de-sheathing a covered drinking straw. The de-sheathing apparatus could comprise of a body having a de-sheathing device, the de-sheathing device forming a de-sheathing orifice into which a covered drinking straw may be inserted, wherein the de-sheathing device applies sufficient force to the covered drinking straw to prevent passage of at least a portion of the covering back through the de-sheathing orifice when the drinking straw with the remainder of covering is removed from proximity with the de-sheathing apparatus.

Abstract: An assembly is disclosed for unrolling and pre-stretching stretch film as the film is fed from the assembly to goods/products to be wrapped or packed. The assembly comprises a first member for controlling the unwinding of the film from a spool, and a cutter arranged downstream of the control member for lacerating the film, the assembly further comprising a second member, downstream of the cutter, for preventing return of the film in a direction opposite to that in which the film leaves the assembly. A cutting procedure, according to another aspect of the present invention, comprises the steps of: following an initial stop of the film during which it is cut, the first, control member is unlocked so as to permit the laceration zone of the film to pass downstream of the second, return preventing member. The film then comes to a new stop to complete the cut following relative motion between the assembly and the goods/products to be wrapped or packed.

Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing flexible web material from a center pull roll capable of accommodating different types of web material in the form of sheets separated by lines of perforation. The dispenser includes dispenser apparatus permitting the device to self-adjust to the different thicknesses, sizes and physical characteristics of different types of web material. In certain preferred embodiments, the dispenser comprises a housing, a web support within the housing and structure permitting the dispenser to self-adjust to the effective cross-sectional area of the web. The preferred dispenser structure includes elements positioned to receive the web between them. At least one of the elements is movable and is biased for displacement toward the other. Frictional force applied against the web by the elements resists pull force applied to the web by a user so that a single web sheet separates from the web along the perforation between the elements and the lead end when a user pulls on the web outside the housing.

Abstract: A hand-held adhesive tape dispenser/applicator comprising a housing shell (1) including a hub (2) for mounting adhesive tape rolls, a tape discharge opening (13) and a lever mechanism (3). The lever mechanism (3) comprising pivotally mounted levers actuated by movement of the dispenser housing during the tape application and cutting process providing means for locking the tape whilst cutting, preventing roll back of tape end and an anti-locking function enabling smooth passage of tape whilst dispensing. Dispensing tape passes over a tape guide applicator (4), when a requisite length of tape is applied a user tilts the housing shell (1) engaging a cutter lever (6) with the tape actuating a tape depressor lever (5) which depresses and adheres a section of tape to the housing shell (1). As tape is severed a new tape end remains adhered until released by the next application. When inverted, the dispenser/applicator is freestanding and dispenses tape in desktop mode.

Abstract: Dispenser apparatus for sequentially dispensing sheet material from a center pull coreless roll of sheet material includes a wall-mounted housing having a bottom for supporting the coreless roll on end. A dispenser opening such as a nozzle is incorporated in the apparatus. A tear bar adjacent the nozzle creates stress at perforations that connects two adjacent sheets. When a user pulls a first sheet, the stress causes the sheets to separate. The tear bar is preferably beneath the nozzle, so that the sheets separate at the tear bar leaving an acceptable lead end of a next sheet, when the user pulls at an angle substantially 90 degrees to the wall.

Abstract: An adhesive tape cutting device includes a body, a roll mounting shaft, a roller, and a tape-pressing member. The body has a small side wall and a large side wall. The roll mounting shaft is attached to the large side wall so that an adhesive tape roll can be sleeved on the shaft. The tape-pressing member is biased to press a free end portion of a tape on the tape roll against the roller, and is attached to a retaining plate, which is hinged to the large side wall and which is locked on the small side wall so as to confine the tape roll between the retaining plate and the large side wall. The retaining plate can be unlocked from the small side wall so as to move to an open position, where the tape roll can be removed from the roll mounting shaft.

Abstract: Apparatus for holding and dispensing a coreless roll of toilet tissue and for retrofit to a wall-mounted dispenser normally employed to support and dispense a conventional roll of toilet tissue having a central core. The apparatus includes a receptacle having two spaced projections which are inserted in spaces of the wall-mounted dispenser which normally receive the ends of a support spindle for supporting a conventional roll of toilet tissue having a central core.

Abstract: A raffle ticket dispenser which incorporates a holder for a continuous strip of tickets which readily dispenses a single ticket or multiple tickets. The free end of the continuous strip of tickets is fed through an opening in the holder which has a ticket locator that maintains the first ticket in the strip readily available, and provides an edge to facilitate the removal of a single ticket or multiple tickets. In addition storage compartments are attached to the ticket holder to store items associated with the sale of the tickets. This makes a convenient, portable device which is easily moved from place to place and, also, keeps all necessary items together.

Abstract: In general, the medical apparatus provides contamination-free dispensing of a desired supply of cut-separable, intraoral ligators from a chain of such ligators. Preferably, the apparatus also provides quick loading/unloading of bobbins holding coil-wound chains of such ligators. More preferably, the apparatus provides easy positioning of such chains into a ready-to-use position so that a user may dispense a supply of such chain. The medical apparatus includes a frame and a bobbin around which a chain is wound. The chain preferably is elongate, homogeneous, and unitary and more preferably is a molded chain of plural cut-separable intraoral ligators (i.e., O-ring ligators) for use during an orthodontic ligating procedure. A hub structure and an anvil are attached to the frame. The hub structure includes a hub for mounting the bobbin thereon so that the bobbin rotates about the hub as the chain pays out from the bobbin.

Abstract: A dispenser for flexible webbing includes a dispensing nozzle formed by generally parallel wires bent along tortuous paths. The wires are spaced apart to provide a dispensing opening through which the webbing passes. The wires of the dispensing nozzle frictionally engage the webbing to limit the amount of webbing withdrawn, and to support the webbing during a tearing operation.

Abstract: A safety food wrap film tearing device which mainly includes an upper cover having lateral inner side walls and a lower cover having lateral outer side walls and pivotally connected to the upper cover at a rear edge thereof such that a roll of food wrap film is contained in the space enclosed by the upper and the lower covers. The upper cover has an upper toothed tearing blade inside its free front end and the lower cover has a lower toothed tearing blade inside its free front end, abutting against an outer surface of the upper toothed tearing blade when the upper and the lower covers are closed. Abstract: A ticket assembly including a casing and at least one cover part which is pivotally connected to the casing is disclosed. The casing has provided therein a feed path, which functions to guide a strip of mutually connected tickets during its passage through the casing and includes a ticket outfeed aperture and mutually opposing guide surfaces in the proximity of the outfeed aperture. The bottom guide surface of the ticket strip feed path includes a bead which extends across a part of the feed path. The bead terminates short of the feed path so as to leave surfaces which constitute an extension of the feed path. The bead thus coacts with upper guide surface in aiding in the separation of the connected tickets.

Abstract: A disposable coupon dispensing cartridge includes a housing and a passageway section having top and bottom walls extending from the housing to a discharge opening. A roll of a band of coupons is contained in the housing and has a leading tail extending from the housing to the discharge opening. The coupon band is provided with longitudinally spaced indices and a metering mechanism is carried by a passageway wall and is responsive to the band indicia to releasably restrict further advance of the band upon withdrawal of a coupon through the discharge opening. The metering mechanism may include a band bellying projection on the bottom wall and a stop forwardly of the projection and the indicia are longitudinal slits or may include a longitudinally vertically movable return biased pin for releasably engaging indicia defining holes in the band and a cam for raising and lowering the pin with its longitudinal movement.

Abstract: A dispenser/separator for contamination-free dispensing of a supply of cut-separable medical devices is disclosed which includes anti-contamination structure for enclosing the supply. The anti-contamination structure includes an exit port for allowing the supply to be pulled therethrough in a first direction to expose a device. Also disclosed is a cutter for separating such an exposed device from the supply by pulling the supply against the cutter in a second direction that is at an oblique angle relative to the first direction. In the preferred embodiment, the exit port takes the form of a resistance control aperture, and the cutter takes the form of a stationary knife blade that is positioned adjacent the aperture.

When used, the door on the apparatus is opened and a store of sheet material to be dispensed is placed within the apparatus. An amount of sheet material to be dispensed is played out over the lower roller. When the door of the device is closed, the top roller is brought into contact with the upper surface of the sheet material to be dispensed. The friction between the upper and lower roller provides tension on the sheet material when sheet material is pulled from the apparatus.

Abstract: The disclosed ticket dispenser is especially designed for the dispensing of series-connected lottery tickets and provides a box-like structure for containing the tickets which are exited through a slot in one of the structure walls. The structure is configured so as to provide guide and ticket-tensioning elements about the slot and further includes wings closing the slot at opposite edges. The wall of the structure in which the slot is provided is hinged to the rest of the structure and has a lockable catch releasable to afford access to the interior of the structure. Portions of the structure are shaped in such fashion as to prevent or minimize interior obstructions to the free travel of tickets via manual tensioning forces applied exteriorly of the structure.

A second notch (3) spaced apart from the first notch is formed in the open end edge of the container so as to extend in the direction of the length of the container. The second notch (30) is provided with a cutter (40) in the bottom thereof. The arrangement is such that the portion of the long object which has been extracted past the first notch is forced into the second notch so as to be cut by the cutter.

Abstract: A paper dispenser is furnished with one or more turnable or tiltable cutting or tearing off device, equipped with serrated or jagged edges. When inactive, the cutting edge is held by a spring or by force of gravity in a safe or innocuous position. As a drawing force is applied to the paper web coming out of the dispenser, the cutting or tearing off device is turned or tilted so that the serrations of the cutting edge come into contact with the paper web. When a portion of the web is torn off, the jagged edge returns to its shielded position. The cutting or tearing off device can be directly actuated by the paper web, or via an intermediate element.

Abstract: A large roll toilet paper dispenser having means for dispensing the toilet paper in a twice folded-over condition to strengthen the paper. The twice folded-over dispensed paper permits thinner paper to be used. The dispenser can also have means for minimizing bunching of the paper while it is being dispensed so that it can be easier to tear. The dispenser further has means making it easier to dispense the paper. These means can include means for locating the paper outlet opening in a more accessible position, and means for making the locating of the paper end easier.

Abstract: A toilet roll holder includes a frame and a cover rotatably mounted to the frame by a rotary shaft. The toilet roll holder further includes a support mounted within the cover and supporting a toilet roll thereon, an operating plate located below and adjacent to a rear edge of the support and rotatably mounted to the cover by a shaft, a brake plate rotatably mounted within the frame by a shaft extending parallel to the shaft, and converging holding frames arranged on opposite sides of the brake plate. The operating plate is inserted into the holding frames through their upper ends when the cover is moved to a closed position, and is normally fit loosely between the brake plate and the holding frames so as to permit the toilet paper to freely pass between the operating plate and the brake plate.

Abstract: The new free end formed when a portion of flexible sheet material is severed from a roll contained in a box is prevented from retracting into the box by frictional engagement between the free end and a strip of abrasive material near the cutting edge mounted on the box. Abstract: A dispensing cabinet for strip material, such as paper towel, has a relatively large handwheel extending through a slot in the front face. A roll of the material is engaged by a boss member on the wheel so as to be rotated by rotation of the handwheel. The edge of the handwheel is provided with radially-extending protrusions constituting both finger engaging members to help the user rotate the handwheel and ratchet teeth engageable by a ratchet member mounted on a pivoted plate mounted adjacent the horizontal cabinet slot through which the strip is dispensed. The ratchet member is normally clear of the ratchet teeth, but any attempt to pull the strip from the roll engages the ratchet member with a tooth so that the roll cannot rotate; the strip can therefore only be dispensed by operation of the handwheel, reducing the tendency to dispense a wastefully long strip.

Abstract: A dispensing nozzle for serially dispensing flexible plastic bags is disclosed, and which includes a generally circular plate and a depending tubular mounting sleeve. Two elongate zigzag slots of differing size extend through the plate, and a thread-up opening is positioned at each end of each slot. Each thread-up opening is of a size to permit the free end of the leading bag of a package of bags to be manually threaded therethrough and such that the bag may then be moved into the slot. The differing sizes of the two slots permits bags of differing size to be efficiently received in respective ones of the slots. When the bag is pulled upwardly from its associated slot, its movement is resisted by the zigzag configuration of the slot, and the resistance facilitates the severance of the pulled bag from an immediately following bag joined thereto along a severance line. The bags may be withdrawn in either lateral direction with equally effective results.

Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a preselected length of strip material from a roll in which the dispenser has a housing with a cover member pivotally connected to the housing. The cover member has an elongated transversely extending slot with a bracket member extending therethrough and pivotally supported intermediate its edge portions to the cover with a portion extending into the housing and a portion extending outside of the housing through the slot. The bracket member rear edge portion is arranged to pivot upwardly against the inner surface of the cover and abut the inner surface of the cover to frictionally engage the paper therebetween. The bracket front edge forms a knife edge for severing a preselected length of strip material from the roll when the material is pulled downwardly against the knife edge portion of the bracket. The bracket member is arranged to be pivoted upwardly by the strip material to release the back edge of the bracket member and permit the withdrawal of a length of paper from the roll.

Abstract: A dispenser adapter to improve the dispensing of thin webs from rolls of material contained in conventional dispensing boxes is specially configured to provide its benefits of antirecoil and risk free tearing to a wide range of dispensing boxes. The adapter is particularly suited to being retrofitted to commercially available dispensing boxes containing a wide range of materials such as plastic wrap, aluminum foil, and wax paper, while allowing the user to dispense these various materials by a single consistent, positively controlled, feeding and tearing action. In a preferred embodiment, a pressure plate loaded by one or more metal springs allows the user to easily exert a proportional braking action, and alternate embodiments teach the use of low cost resilient materials in various arrangements to provide the desired dynamic spring action. Additionally, a complete dispensing unit is disclosed which incorporates the teachings of the improved adapter.

The paper can be easily pulled out downwardly. After a desired length has been pulled out, the paper is pulled forwardly. A working plate is pivoted under tension of the paper so that the paper will be pressed and braked between the working plate and a braking member of a resilient material. Simultaneously, a cutter coupled with the working plate will project out of the body so that the paper can be cut cleanly with a single hand.

Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing closure tags, includes a support structure on which is mounted a channel member defining first and second channels through which to feed a strip of closure tags. The forward end of the second channel is disposed slightly ahead of the forward end of the first channel to enable placement of a bag into the first tag while a substantial portion of the lower edge of the first tag is still disposed within the second channel. A guide member attached to the channel member defines a surface disposed generally ahead of and facing the second channel that includes a first portion extending from a first position that is generally directly ahead of the forward end of the second channel a distance slightly less than the tag width to a second position that is disposed sideways from the longitudinal axis of the second channel.

In a second embodiment of the dispenser, the top and two sides are made of one piece of material and are hingeably connected to the bottom and front, which are made of one piece of material. In the third embodiment, an axle and wheel rotate within the curl to advance the tickets from the inside of the dispenser to the outside of the dispenser. In all three embodiments, various mounting methods are provided.

A retaining member adjacent each chamber engages a portion of the tape extending from the roll and prevents the tape extent from rolling back onto the tape roll. Abstract: Described is a mechanical device designed to dispense tissue paper or cloth web by gravity-actuated release gear system. The release gear system is activated by pressing a lever that is connected to the unidirectional gear release system. The gear mechanism is supported on the inside of the dispenser and has the lever extending through a side opening of the cover of the cabinet. The gear train, connected to this lever, is also connected to the axle of the towel roll through a square butt end.

Abstract: An improved tape dispenser/receptacle having complimentary oblong-shaped top and bottom portions adapted to mate with each other, wherein the improvement consists of: first and second spool-dispensing axes, each axes composed of ten pegs; longitudinally-oriented inner and outer sets of ridges, extending downward from underneath the device's top portion; a plurality of tape exist and flattening apertures; resilient tabs extending outward from the device's side walls, in one-to-one correspondence with the exit/flattening apertures; and a cutting surface. The spool-dispensing axes hold rolls of tape or other material which may be marked with identifying indicia. The inner ridges touch the radial surface of the tape rolls to keep the rolls from wobbling during dispensing, while the outer ridges act as means to keep the tape straight en route through the exit/flattening apertures.

The storage space (3) of the case can be designed to hold a continuous, accordion-folded strip.

Abstract: A device for dispensing serial numbers, which have been attached consecutively in the longitudinal direction on a strip of paper being brought in the shape of a roll, said strip of paper being provided between each two numbers with an incision line formed in such a way that by a transverse portion and two longitudinal portions of it a central lip is obtained which projects from an output edge of the device after the tearing off of a serial number, the tearing means being formed by composing the output edge of a central part parallel to the plane of the strip and transverse to the longitudinal direction of it and two lateral parts connected with the ends of the central part and constituting an angle therewith such that the lateral edges of the strip are pulled on the lateral parts of the output edge and are shifted away from each other.

Abstract: A dispenser for a roll of strip comprising a casing in which is disposed a roll of strip. Pivotally connected to the casing is a cover. At the strip exit opening is a passage through which advances the free end of the roll of strip. Disposed in the passage for the advancing free end of the roll of strip is an upwardly extending indexing member. The indexing member is formed with a curved tip and tapered side walls that are directed outwardly and downwardly. The roll of strip is formed with curved slits. The curved slits are alternately convex and concave. The indexing member penetrates each slit successively. The convex slit forms a convex opening upon entering the ticket exit passage which is penetrated by the indexing member. The convex slit forms a concave opening upon entering the ticket exit passage which is penetrated by the indexing member. The convex slit, when opened, forms a tongue contacting the penetrating tip of the indexing member.

Abstract: A dispensing nozzle comprising a plate overlying a bore defined through a countertop for the passage of bags therethrough from a subjacent storage position. The plate defines an elongate zig-zag slot for the restrictive movement of bags therethrough upon a manual pulling of a leading bag. Each manually pulled leading bag is automatically severed from a following bag secured thereto along a line of severance by slot-developed resistance. Introduction of the forwardmost bag of a bag package is facilitated by an enlarged opening laterally of one side of the slot and communicated with the slot through a relatively narrower neck portion. The nozzle may include a tubular sleeve receivable in the countertop bore, with the plate secured to or integrally formed with the sleeve across one end thereof.
