With Brake Applied To Supply Package Patents (Class 225/79)
  • Patent number: 8381789
Abstract: An automatic drywall taper is provided. The automatic drywall taper has a securing device for securing drywall tape to the body of the taper during use. The securing device has an elongated bar which runs substantially parallel to the body of the taper. The elongated bar is spring activated to lock a hub on a bar which is attached substantially perpendicular to the body of the taper. The hub rotates thereby allowing the tape to dispense and be used on drywall. The hub has a braking mechanism which allows for the controlled release of the tape.

  • Patent number: 6450380
Abstract: A dispenser is described for dispensing plastic bags which are wound on a hollow cylindrical core. The dispenser is an integral molded plastic device having a bottom panel and upstanding sidewalls which are biased toward each other and which include stub axles adapted to receive the opposite ends of the core on which the roll is wound. The sidewalls apply a braking force to the ends of the core. The core fits tightly onto the stub axles to provide an additional braking force in order to prevent free wheeling of the roll as the individual bags are dispensed.

  • Patent number: 5813585
Abstract: A dispensing apparatus for serially dispensing plastic bags from a wound roll of continuous flexible plastic bags joined along perforated severance lines. A container is provided which is adapted to receive the wound roll of plastic bags. The container has a bottom, a pair of opposed sides having an inwardly facing flange extending therefrom, and a separating tongue projecting outward from the bottom. The flanges define a self-threading slide for threading the plastic bags from the wound roll along a predetermined path onto the separating tongue. The separating tongue separates the plastic bags from the wound roll as the plastic bags engage the separation tongue along a predetermined path of travel.

  • Patent number: 5788136
Abstract: The invention relates to a paper roll holder with a brake for dispensing use of paper rolls or the like. The paper roll holder comprises a heavy base to which two column-like parts are fixed, against which the paper roll rests and in between which the paper runs and which at their ends have suitably shaped cutting edges or serration, if the paper web is not perforated. A split ring member including ring and wedge-shaped parts as well as a cover with a spring fixed to it are mounted in bearings to the column-like parts and a spring fixed to the base are all pressing the paper roll against the column-like parts. The form, roughness and weight of the cover and column-like parts the split ring member and the the spring forces of the springs are chosen so that by pulling the paper it easily unwinds but the paper breaks off with a little jerk using only one hand.

  • Patent number: 5261585
Abstract: A plastic bag dispenser holds a continuous roll of bags, connected by perforated separation lines. The dispenser is provided with a tongue, which the bags are dispensed over, that engages the separation line between the bag at the end of the roll and the next bag. This begins the separation of the separation line, as well as holds the next bag behind the tongue. A finger is provided on the upstream side of the tongue, with a gap between the finger and tongue. As a bag is separated, a portion of the front edge of the next bag is held in the gap, holding the bag in position for the next user. The roll of bags rests in angled grooves in the dispenser that cause the roll to abut and frictionally engage an interior surface of the dispenser, preventing free-wheeling of the roll.

  • Patent number: 4961613
Abstract: A dispensing cabinet for strip material, such as paper towel, has a relatively large handwheel extending through a slot in the front face. A roll of the material is engaged by a boss member on the wheel so as to be rotated by rotation of the handwheel. The edge of the handwheel is provided with radially-extending protrusions constituting both finger engaging members to help the user rotate the handwheel and ratchet teeth engageable by a ratchet member mounted on a pivoted plate mounted adjacent the horizontal cabinet slot through which the strip is dispensed. The ratchet member is normally clear of the ratchet teeth, but any attempt to pull the strip from the roll engages the ratchet member with a tooth so that the roll cannot rotate; the strip can therefore only be dispensed by operation of the handwheel, reducing the tendency to dispense a wastefully long strip.

  • Patent number: 4760970
Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a web downwardly from a vertically arranged tubular roll of the web provides for preventing unwanted dispensing of the web under the influence of gravity. Each unwanted dispensing is achieved by applying a restraining force to an appropriate location on the roll or on the web, the force being of a magnitude such that the web is restrained against unwinding by gravity yet the web can be pulled downwardly from the roll without tearing. The restraining force can be applied in any of several ways including applying a strip of adhesive tape to one end of the roll, pressing a groove into one end of the roll, applying adhesive spots at spaced intervals along the web before it is wound into a roll or by providing a mechanical arm or the like which presses against the periphery of the roll.
