Stored Material-movement-derived Energy Provides Moving Force Patents (Class 226/121)
  • Patent number: 10376108
Abstract: A rolled product dispenser for dispensing a web of rolled product is described. The rolled product dispenser comprises a dispensing assembly, a return mechanism, and a blocking mechanism. The dispensing assembly includes a rotating drum assembly having a peripheral wall configured to be contoured at least partially by the web of rolled product. The rotating drum assembly is rotatable in a dispensing rotation direction and a counter dispensing rotation direction along at least 90 degrees. The return mechanism biases the rotating drum towards a stationary configuration by rotating same in the counter dispensing rotation direction. The blocking mechanism is engageable with the rotating drum assembly to prevent rotation thereof in the counter dispensing rotation direction beyond at least one predetermined angular position.

  • Patent number: 5650028
Abstract: A label for a glass container is preprinted with inks and adhesive on a separable substrate and cured, and the printed label is then transferred to the container. The labelled container is then coated with a protective material. The label application apparatus includes a mechanism for indexing the label web in such a manner as to minimize starting and stopping of the supply and take-up reels when labels are applied to plural containers simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 4775088
Abstract: An intermittent web feeding apparatus for intermittently feeding fixed length of a web of material during one cycle of a feeding operation by the cooperative operation of a pair of feed rollers for unwinding a web of material from a roll of web material and feeding the web of material to a web processing machine such as a bag-forming and packing machine, and for feeding the web of material to a processing position within the web processing machine, is disclosed. The intermittent web feeding apparatus is equipped with a single servomotor for driving the feed rollers through means of a first transmission mechanism, and the feeding units through means of a second transmission mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4562947
Abstract: Treatment apparatus for continuous web for producing diecut blanks (for example) has two sets of treatment rolls and the speed of these is adjusted so that although driven at web speed during the treatment portion of each cycle they are accelerated and retarded (or vice versa) during the non-treatment portion of each cycle so as to synchronize the treatment forms on the rolls with the required web areas and avoid wastage. The speed variation is by control of the drive motors for the rolls, but using roll-carried cams connected to gas springs so that energy can be absorbed during retardation and released during acceleration to supplement the motors and thus enable smaller motors to be used.

  • Patent number: 4451834
Abstract: In a transfer type heat sensitive recording device a recording section is provided in which the thermal transfer of data is effected by applying thermal pulses to an ink donor sheet having a recording sheet superimposed thereon. Upon leaving the recording section, the recording sheet is separated from the ink donor sheet and upon completion of the separation, the drive for the ink donor sheet is terminated. A recording sheet discharge device is operatively driven from the ink donor sheet conveying device through a drive force accumulating mechanism so that upon stopping of the ink donor sheet conveying device, the torque accumulated by the drive force accumulating mechanism will be sufficient to continue the operation of the recording sheet discharging device until the recording sheet is fully discharged.

  • Patent number: 4431126
Abstract: When feed stock is pulled from storage and a portion cut off for use by an operator, such as a builder of tires, the remaining portion of feed stock not used by the operator for the tire he is building ("unused stock"), interferes with the tire building process. Therefore, the tire builder must take the time, and make the additional effort to move the unused stock out of his way, usually by pulling the end of the unused stock into a retaining clip on the tray of the `servicer` which presents appropriate stocks to the tire builder. To avoid the inconvenience to the tire builder who must move the unused stock out of his way, and to save the time required for him to do so, a spring actuated cam roller is used to release the feed stock to the tire building machine when the operator pulls on the stock. After the operator cuts off a predetermined portion, a controlled reverse rotation of the cam is automatically spring actuated so as to retract the end of the unused stock and keep it out of the operator's way.

  • Patent number: 4175687
Abstract: The accurate and uniform indexing of paper business forms with line hole punched margins. The index drive overcomes any possible accumulation of errors. A pawl and ratchet device is employed in the feeding of the paper form. The ratchet is rotated approximately one-half tooth beyond the ultimate desired stop. A spring urged arm then pulls the ratchet wheel back that one-half tooth turn so the pawl rests solidly in a single ratchet tooth. It is this same spring arm that pulls back the over-fed paper form. The form pull back is permitted by reason of a magnetic one-way clutch being momentarily released at the end of the mechanical feed-out. The present device is a combination of a mechanical drive with a magnetically releasable clutch to effect a constantly accurate feed out of paper forms resulting in identical positioning of each of the series of continuous paper forms.
