  • Patent number: 5847739
Abstract: A method of carrying out ink Jet printing includes the steps of: introducing a cloth on which ink Jet printing is to be carried out onto a cloth feeding drum having a plurality of support pins for holding the cloth on the cloth feeding drum; and moving the support pins in the radial direction of the cloth feeding drum at least when the cloth is introduced onto the cloth feeding drum. Further, the method may also include the step of moving the support pins in the axial direction of the cloth feeding drum to apply a tension to the cloth held by the support pins on the cloth feeding drum after the cloth is introduced onto the cloth feeding drum.

  • Patent number: 5593078
Abstract: A rotary film advancement apparatus for use in a motion picture camera or projector which uses film having pairs of evenly spaced perforations located near the edges of the film having a steering channel which defines a closed loop path having a pre-selected contour. A rotor is mounted on the stator and rotates at a selected angular velocity in a given direction of rotation about a rotor axis which extends through the interior of the closed loop contour. At least one claw is pivotally mounted to the rotor about a pivot axis which is radially spaced from the rotor axis and has a claw tip dimensioned to engage a film perforation. The claw tip rotates with the rotor at a claw tip rotational speed. A steering pin spaced from the claw tip and the pivot axis follows the path of the steering channel thereby pivoting the claw tip both forwardly and backwardly, and inwardly and outwardly.

  • Patent number: 5188270
Abstract: A sheet conveyor for conveying a sheet by engaging an engaging member with openings formed in a sheet and conveying the sheet by displacement of the engaging member. The conveyor includes a holding device for holding the engaging member so as to be movable between an operative position and a retracted position retracted from the operative position, a device deformable to move the engaging member provided on the holding device between the operative position and the retracted position, and a drive device for driving the holding device to displace the engaging member.

  • Patent number: 4605209
Abstract: To permit easy threading of a plurality of paper webs through rollers which have projecting pins thereof to provide for positive feed of the paper webs by perforating the paper webs, the pins are located such that they can be selectively positioned below a cylindrical generated outline defined by the largest radial dimension of at least one of the engagement rollers, for example by being selectively retractable (FIG. 1) within the outline of the cylindrical roller, or by being located (FIG. 2) in flutes or depressions of fluted rollers. If the pins are selectively retractable and projectionable, preferably, a positioning cone (5) is located within a hollow roller (1), the axial position of the cone being determined by an external hand wheel (23) which, over a rod (4), axially positions the cone, while including a rotation-isolating coupling (14-22) between the hand wheel and the rod (4).

  • Patent number: 4417680
Abstract: Apparatus for feeding pieces of lumber along a path with the center lines of the pieces extending along a preselected datum plane in the direction of the path. A plurality of spaced apart, upper and lower transverse members are mounted for rotation about horizontal axes at opposite sides of the datum plane with the lower side of each upper transverse member and the upper side of each lower transverse member traveling in the direction of the path of movement of the lumber to provide oppositely disposed transverse members at opposite sides of the datum plane. Outwardly projecting lumber engaging members carried by the oppositely disposed transverse members are yieldably urged toward the adjacent sides of the pieces of lumber therebetween with substantially equal force to maintain the center line of the pieces of lumber along the preselected datum plane.

  • Patent number: 4162032
Abstract: A continuous form pinwheel, having pins and a platen formed of a durable plastic material, the pins being closely fitted in their seats for the exclusion of foreign matter, having a unique cam follower and radiused at their lower end. The tips of the pins may be formed of steel, thereby eliminating wear on the two major wear areas of the pin. The plastic material contributes to a low coefficient of friction and thus long life.

  • Patent number: 4136809
Abstract: A paper transport device utilizing pins for indexing with paper having perforated margins. Pin carrying rings are eccentrically mounted at the ends of a platen and project radially through circumferentially spaced slots in platen end portions with the pins projecting beyond the platen surface for only a portion of the platen's circumference.

  • Patent number: 4087165
Abstract: A film tension absorbing mechanism is provided on a motion picture projector for absorbing film tension shock in the film strip. The tension absorbing mechanism includes a first system comprising the combination of a pivotally mounted, biased film exit guide roller for absorbing a portion of the tension and a tension absorbing sprocket drive to permit relative movement between the film strip and the sprocket. The tension absorbing sprocket includes a sprocket wheel and a relatively movable sprocket tooth ring rotatably mounted for generally conjoint rotation. The sprocket tooth ring is biased in a direction opposite the rotation of the sprocket wheel so that film tension shock can be absorbed as the sprocket tooth ring rotates relative to the sprocket wheel in a direction against the biasing force. A second system also is provided and includes a bi-directional tension absorbing drive sprocket for absorbing film tension shock in two directions.

  • Patent number: 4033493
Abstract: A pin wheel feeding device includes a housing capable of being rotated about an axis. A plurality of substantially identical pins are disposed within the housing in respective alignment with a plurality of openings. Each pin includes a pair of opposing guide members. A cam member disposed within the housing is capable of being fixed in position relative to the housing. The cam member has a track formed thereon with which each of the pins is engaged with the pair of guide members thereof being located on either side of the track. The width of the track at first, second and third segments thereof is substantially coextensive with the locus of points traced by the closest adjacent points on the pair of guide members of each pin during movement of the pins along the first, second and third segments of the track.
