Abstract: A stitching device for producing stitching wire staples for stitching stacked sheet materials, includes a stitching head base body and a cutting box fixed to the stitching head base body. The cutting box includes a movable knife slide. A control device controls the movement sequences of the stitching head, in particular of the knife slide, for cutting off the stitching wire automatically. The stitching head base body, the cutting box and the knife slide are configured in such a way that, during interaction, the movable knife slide can be displaced relative to the stitching base body in order to cut off the stitching wire. The cutting box and the knife slide are provided with at least partly aligned openings in such a way that, during interaction between these openings and an operating device, it is possible to cut the wire off manually.
Abstract: A device for stitching collated printed products, in particular signatures, with staples, includes a stitching head base body, a former, a clincher, a staple support and a driver. The former has a supporting projection and a control projection. The supporting projection extends beyond a contour of the control projection. A saddle stitcher having a stitching device is also provided.
Abstract: A stapler unit has a staple section, a cutter section, and a receiving section. A stapling device further includes a staple recovery box which is disposed at a staple discarding position and which recovers the tip ends to be discarded from the receiving section; and a staple discarding mechanism which delivers the tip ends received in the receiving section of the stapler unit to the staple recovery box. One of the plural stapling positions is identical with the staple discarding position.
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for supplying, centering, and cutting a stapling wire in a stapling device, the subsequent formation of a staple, and stapling a stack of sheets. According to various aspects of the invention, methods and apparatus for feeding a wire to a lever assembly having a horizontally moveable cutter, moving the moveable cutter in a direction transverse to a stapling direction by actuating the lever assembly with the wire, and cutting the wire with the cutter, forming a staple from the wire, and driving the staple into sheets.

Abstract: A stapling device includes a wire fed in the casing of the device and a staple-bending member is movably connected to a base in the casing and has two protrusions extending from a lower end thereof. An ejecting member movably connected to the base. A mechanism is driven by an activation member and lowers the staple-bending member and the ejecting member to deform a section of the metal wire to be a staple which is ejected through an aperture to staple a pile of document.

Abstract: A pneumatically operated fastener-driving tool, particularly adapted for nailing drywall to the framing of a building, includes a housing, a reciprocator assembly mounted within the housing, and a piston mechanism mounted within the reciprocating assembly for axially driving the fastener into the drywall and underlying framing member. Upon actuation of the tool, the piston is pneumatically driven through a fastener-driving stroke and the reciprocator is reactively driven in an opposite direction. The oppositely driven reciprocator assembly absorbs recoil energy during the piston's driving stroke without transmitting an appreciable amount thereof to the housing, thereby substantially precluding housing recoil during driving of the fastener. At the end of the driving stroke, the reciprocator engages and is decelerated by the piston, thereby reducing housing recoil subsequent to the driving of the fastener.
Abstract: An apparatus for simultaneously forming a plurality of terminals from a plurality of lengths of wire and inserting the terminals simultaneously into preformed openings in a plastic part. The apparatus includes a mechanism for simultaneously moving a plurality of lengths of wire which are held in spaced relation to one another to a severing position. The wires may be arranged in both horizontal and vertical planes. At the severing position, a shear is provided for simultaneously severing end portions from the lengths of wires to form a plurality of short wire terminals. The shears and an anvil support the terminals and maintain them in spaced relation to one another after severing for insertion into the preformed openings in the plastic part. The apparatus further includes a tool which supports the plastic part. A slide moves the plastic part and the terminals into engagement with one another to thereby embed the terminals in the preformed openings of the plastic part.

Abstract: A fastener cartridge of the throw-away type including a housing enclosing an elongated continuous wire wound in coil formation on a spool and mounting the spool for rotation about its axis in response to an outward pull on a free end portion of the strand extending outwardly of the housing and a holding pawl within the housing for preventing movement of the strand free end portion into the housing and a cooperating portable power-operated device lockingly securing said cartridge in operative relation thereon having power driven means for cutting off successive lengths from the free end portion of the wire and driving the same into a workpiece. The dimension of the lengths cut off from the wire can be varied within a range as desired by an adjustable power-operated feed pawl which cooperates with the holding pawl of the cartridge.
Abstract: The apparatus includes a conveyor table having press heads mounted on opposite sides. Coils of connector plate stock having prepunched integrally extending teeth feed upper and lower press platens movable toward one another to substantially simultaneously cut the connector stock to predetermined lengths to form connector plates and embed the teeth of the connector plates on opposite sides of joints formed by wooden frame members disposed on the conveyor between the press heads. Upon completion of the pressing operation, a feed mechanism locates predetermined lengths of connector stock between the press platens for the next cut and embedment operation. Selectively extensible and retractable stops are provided on the conveyor table and press heads against which respective webs and chords of the frame being fabricated are butted to locate the same in position forming a completed frame. Clamps on the conveyor press the chords against the web ends while the connector plates are embedded in the joints.
