Publication number: 20030160092Abstract: A shipping container for liquids is described. This consists of an outer corrugated paperboard container containing an inner corrugated liner forming corner posts. A flexible or semi-flexible bladder or jug generally conforming in cross section to the inside of the corrugated container contains the liquid. It is desirable for the inner corrugated liner to be bonded to the outer container, especially along the margins of the corner posts. It has been found to be critical that the ratio of the length of the outside face of the outer container to the corner post length should be no greater than about 8:1. This is essential to prevent face bulging, especially when the inner plastic container is filled with a high density material such as a paint. Where the inner plastic container has an upstanding handle or spout it is useful to have filler pieces that bear between the plastic container and upper flaps of the outer corrugated container.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 26, 2002Publication date: August 28, 2003Inventors: Nicholas A. Patent number: 6427906Abstract: A box made from sheet materials such as corrugated cardboard has two sides, two ends connected to the sides at foldable corners and each with a central fold line and a bottom connected to the sides at foldable corners but not connected to the ends. A center partition running from one end of the box to the other is hingedly connected to the ends and is not connected to the bottom. The bottom has a central fold, enabling it to fold away from the partition when the ends are folded about the side corners in the same direction, the ends folding in the middle relative to the partition, to collapse the box. The partition is made from two panels which are attached back-to-back to one another and each panel has end flaps at each end which make up the ends of the box.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2001Date of Patent: August 6, 2002Assignee: Menasha CorporationInventor: Bevan E. Patent number: 6305597Abstract: A folding carton is described that includes a hang tab that is slidable between a first position in which the hang tab is tucked behind a first carton panel, and a second position in which the hang tab extends out of the carton for hanging the carton on a display. The carton further includes a hang tab restraint for preventing the hang tab from being pulled entirely out of the carton. The hang tab is initially held in its first position by breakaway nicks that attach the hang tab to the carton. According to further aspects of the invention, the hang tab restraint comprises a yoke flap folded over the hang tab or, alternatively, a tongue member that fits into a central slot of the hang tab.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2000Date of Patent: October 23, 2001Assignee: IMPAC Group, Inc.Inventors: Barbara Vollmer Donegan, Richard Mazurek
