Abstract: The present invention relates to a container having consumer friendly sides. The container has a front panel and a back panel, each having an exterior surface. A side sealed portion of the container is folded over and secured to the exterior surface of container. The side sealed portion having at least one angled portion. Securing the side sealed portion to the exterior surface of the container forms a smooth side with the portion of the container that is folded over, or flexed, to allow the side sealed portion to be secured to the front or back panel. A method for forming the container assembly, and a machine for manufacturing the container assembly are also disclosed.
Abstract: The easy open envelope comprising a front panel and a back panel hingedly connected to one edge of the front panel; a sealing flap connected to the opposite edge of the front panel at a fold line and having on an outer side of the sealing flap in one corner section thereof a legend or indicia indicating where to pull on the corner section of the sealing flap to open the envelope; and a strip of adhesive sealing material extending longitudinally across the envelope on one of the sealing flap or back panel of the envelope in the area where the sealing flap overlies the back panel, but not in the area of the corner section, whereby, once the sealing flap is sealed by the strip of adhesive material to the back panel, the sealed envelope easily can be opened by pulling on an edge of the corner section of the sealing flap having the legend to create an opening in the sealed envelope where a finger or tool can be inserted to open the envelope along the fold line.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for an envelope that includes a first portion of material, forming a first surface, a second portion of material, forming a second surface, the second portion being connected to the first portion at selected regions and a third portion of material, connected to the first portion and adapted to contact the second portion, the third portion having a flap that is removable to provide access to an aperture. The flap is fabricated from the same material as the third portion of material. A perforation located in proximity to the flap and adapted to facilitate opening of the envelope.

Abstract: A packaging, preferably a bag of a flexible material, provided with an opening device for facilitating opening of the packaging. The opening device comprises a plate being more brittle and rigid than the packaging material and provided with a transverse weakened line formed of a groove-like portion of reduced plate thickness dividing the member into two halves, each of which may gripped between the thumb and forefinger of a person. The opening device is dimensioned in such a manner in the area of the weakened line that without any difficulty a person can break the device along said line by rotating the two halves towards each other about said line. In close proximity of the groove, a perforation edge is formed in at least one of the halves. The plate member is attached to the packaging with the sharp edge facing the interior of the packaging.
