Abstract: A measuring scoop and its method for fabrication. In one embodiment, a planar element is fabricated of a foldable material. The planar element is generally circular, and is scored with three generally linear scores each having a first end substantially at the center of the element and a second end proximate an outer edge of the element. Folding the element about the scores produces a generally conically shaped object that can be used as a measuring scoop for food and other things. A handle protrudes into the interior of the scoop. In some embodiments, the two portions comprising the handle are held together securely by a tab in one portion that locks into a slit in the other portion.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure include an insulated drinking vessel comprising an inner wall surrounding an interior for containing a liquid beverage and an outer wall spaced from the inner wall to form an air space which acts to insulate the vessel interior in order to maintain the temperature of the liquid beverage contents within a desired range throughout a period of time which is normally required to consume the entire beverage contents. The insulated drinking vessel also includes a removable/resealable lid comprising at least one integrated tamper-evident sealed content dispensing opening which, when breached, allows the beverage contents to be removed while the lid remains attached to the vessel.

Abstract: The invention relates to a lid for closing a container, preferably a cup, the lid being made from a paper- or a cardboard-material, wherein the lid comprises a topwall which covers the opening of the container and a sidewall directed at an angle relative to the topwall, wherein one end of the sidewall can engage sealingly with the top end of the container. The present invention further relates to a set comprising a lid and a container.

Abstract: A lid for securing to the brim of a container, the lid including a container closure having a disk shaped member with a periphery for mating with the brim of the container. The periphery includes annular inner and outer side walls with at least one annular rib disposed on each of the inner and outer side walls. The ribs of the annular walls form a gripping area to secure the lid to the container for preventing leaks and accidental spillage. A top wall interconnects the inner and outer side walls and includes visual cues for viewing the brim of the container when the lid is affixed to the brim. The lid additionally includes a pronounced wedge shaped sipping spout projecting upwards from the container closure. The container closure includes a circular indented channel for stacking one lid covered cup over another with additional stability provided by the sipping spout.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a container (1) comprising a wall (2) having a closed base (4) at one end and a generally circular or oval rim (5) of at an opposite end, the rim defining a top opening (6) of the container. The container (1) further comprises an arrangement of flaps (70, 80) whereby the counteracting forces between a rim of a first flap (70) and the inner face of a second flap (80) are sufficient to push the respective rim and the inner face together into a tight contact. A closure arrangement (300a, 300b) is provided to restrict flap openings (100a, 100b) formed at or below the rim (5) of the container between the flaps (70, 80) to prevent splashing and reduce the rate of spillage if the container is knocked over. The present invention thus improves the spill-resistant properties for the container (1), whilst, if required for drinking or pouring, permitting the container to allow the passage of a liquid when tilted for drinking and pouring.

Abstract: A substantially crimpless and monolithic paperboard container lid and method of making same is provided. The lid comprises a single contiguous molded paperboard body configured to conformingly couple to a top periphery of a container for covering the container's opening. The body includes a sealing ring located adjacent the body's periphery. The sealing ring includes a sealing channel composed of a radiused cross-section that extends to a tangent ring terminating with a tab ring. The radiused cross-section and tangent ring assist providing a snug fit between the lid and the container. Despite being made from paperboard, the lid does not include one or more substantial crimps in the sealing ring. Having no substantial crimps, the lid fits onto the container and prevents fluid from leaking between the container's periphery and the lid.

A pair of arcuate crease lines (7, 8) is formed at the opposing sides of the wall (2) of the cup below the rim defining a pair of flaps (70, 80) for closing the top opening of the cup by folding the flaps along the crease lines. Due to the resilience of the cup material, each flap can toggle between two stable positions on application of an initial external force on the flap, namely an open upright position in which the flap is convex and forms part of the wall of the cup, and a closed slanted position in which the flap changes its shape to concave. In the closed mode, the rim of one flap impinges against the inner face of the second flap and forms a spill-tight seal between the flaps. The seal is maintained due to static opposing forces acting between the flaps.

The flaps are pushed down one onto the other to close the top, leaving a drink opening at the distal side, corresponding to the square cutout.

A main reservoir access channel can be provided to bypass the cooling reservoir when the contents of the beverage cup are no longer hot. The apparatus of the invention holds and cools a portion of the hot contents of a beverage cup to prevent a user from a very unpleasant burning of the lips and tongue from the hot beverage in the beverage cup.

Abstract: A hermetically sealed paperboard container with enhanced barrier and seal performances is disclosed that may be produced by a more effective and economical process for the in-plant system. The container includes a container body component, a bottom, and a top lid hermetically sealed to the body component. The container body is formed from a blank comprising a paperboard (201) having one surface coated with a first sealant layer (202) and the opposite surface coated with a barrier layer (203), and a second sealant layer (204) applied over the barrier layer (203). One longitudinal end of the blank is skived to a predetermined thickness for a predetermined width, folded over onto the blank, and sealed to form a folded longitudinal end. Then, the folded longitudinal end of the blank is overlapped inside the other longitudinal end of the blank to form a body seam that is subsequently sealed to provide the hollow container body.

Abstract: By creating a slurry of biodegradable material, forming it in a mold under a vacuum, a channel may be created in the lid which can be release-ably connected to a traditional rolled lip coffee cup, among other common liquid holding vessels but be made out of biodegradable material. The resulting lid may be elastic enough such that the lid will give to allow a complementary cup to fit into the channel to create a seal between the cup and the lids. It also will be firm enough to withstand the weight and pressure of the liquid inside the container and from pressure from consumers while using the container. The lid also may be sufficiently heat resistant to withstand desired temperatures and liquid exposure for a time long enough for a consumer to enjoy the contents of the container but also be biodegradable.

Abstract: A filter paper cup for making a beverage pod. The filter paper cup includes a cover and a base (or receptacle). The filter paper cup is formed by forming pleats in walls and a rim around the tops of the wall. Preferably, a heat seal filter paper is used and the pleats in the walls and rim are adhered by the heat to retain the shape. The base in inserted into a pod holder and brewing material is placed into the base. The cover is folded over the rim, and a lid is attached to the pod holder to sandwich the cover and rim to seal the pod. The cover is held taut by the lid of the pod holder to facilitate penetration of the cover by a needle to inject water into the pod.

As assembled, the domed member and closure panel are configured such that the opposed engagement edges of the closure panel are slidingly mounted in the engagement tracks for generally radial displacement.

Abstract: A reclosable cup lid thermoformed from a polymeric material. The lid includes a closure panel and a lid member having a sidewall and a top wall. The top wall can have an upper and lower side and a drinking aperture at a periphery of the top wall. The top wall can define a pair of engagement tracks disposed on the lower side of the top wall. The engagement tracks can include a scalloped configuration and an undercut depth. The closure panel can be insertable into the scalloped engagement tracks by application of a bending force to the lid member suitable to widen the distance between the tracks.

Abstract: The invention relates to tear-back thermoformed high impact polystyrene lids having from at least 10% to about 15% of filler and the specified configuration of the tear-back portion. In particular, the tear back lid comprises a tear back portion defined by two sets of tear back indentations and a left and a right notch cut into a skirt defined by the outer diameter of the lid. The combination of the filler amount and tear-back configuration allows an improved tearability for the filled polystyrene lids.

The decoction unit may be used without having to remove the lid from the beverage container.

A folding lip is arranged on the front of this protuberance and has a sealable hole formed therein.
