Including Means To Facilitate Severing The Wrapper (e.g., Cutting, Tearing, Etc.) Patents (Class 229/87.05)
  • Patent number: 11858195
Abstract: A flexible packaging laminate has built-in opening/reclose and tamper-evidence features by forming the laminate from an outer structure joined in face-to-face relation to an inner structure. Score lines are formed in both structures to enable an opening to be formed through the laminate by lifting a flap or the like out of the plane of the laminate. The score line through the outer structure defines a larger opening than the score line through the inner structure, such that a marginal region of the outer structure extends beyond the edge of the opening portion of the inner structure. A pressure-sensitive adhesive is used to re-adhere the marginal region to an underlying surface of the inner structure adjacent the opening through the laminate. The outer score line includes at least one tear portion that is torn through upon initial opening, thus indicating the package has been at least partially opened.

The seal in the sealed configuration flexibly provides package integrity with an air-tight seal and connection. In the operated configuration, the seal separates the package into two sections, allowing the package to assume a size that is suitable for the volume of material remaining. In one embodiment, the mid-package separable seal includes a sealing strip that is adhesively attached to the outside of the package and covers a tear line/strip formed in the material of the package. Removal of the sealing strip allows the tear line to separate the package into two sections. In another embodiment, a connecting strip is attached to two sections of the package and the connecting strip has an integral tear line.

  • Patent number: 8506165
Abstract: An easily openable packaging bag according to the present invention does not produce an opening piece resulting in a small piece of waste when opening, and facilitates opening even with a single hand. Furthermore the easily openable packaging bag of the present invention can be also applied to a packaging bag provided with barrier characteristics. The easily openable packaging bag joins both ends of a packaging material into a tube shape. Both of the joined ends are heat sealed to form a bonded rear portion in a rear portion of the tube portion and solid contents are contained in an inner section of the tube portion. A weakened portion is formed in a portion not occupied by the contents in the tube portion along a circumferential direction of the tube portion and the weakened portion is not provided in at least a portion of the bonded rear portion.
