Abstract: A display mailbox for displaying text or graphics on an exterior surface thereof comprising a mailbox enclosure having a recess positioned on its exterior surface bounded by a perimeter wall and a backing wall. At least two flanges are located on the sides of the recess, each flange having an inwardly facing surface projecting over the recess. An insert of sheet material having the text or graphics printed thereon fits into the recess and behind the inwardly facing surfaces of the flanges whereby it is securely held and can be seen on the exterior surface of te mailbox.
Abstract: A mailbox is disclosed which comprises a housing having flanges located at the bottom, outside periphery thereof and defining holding grooves for peripheral edges of a decorative overlay. Sides of the housing have holes therein which align with corresponding holes of the decorative overlay when the peripheral edges are inserted into the grooves. The decorative overlay is attached to the mailbox by inserting removable fasteners into the aligned holes, thus allowing the overlay to be readily attached to and removed from the housing.

Abstract: A roadside mail box formed of an L-shaped tubular member erected with the "L" inverted and having a mail compartment in its horizontal leg. In a preferred embodiment, a closure sleeve, closed at one end, is coaxially, rotatably disposed on the horizontal leg. Respective elongated openings on the side of the horizontal leg and in the sidewall of the sleeve, register at one rotational position of the sleeve to permit access to the mail compartment and, in other rotational positions of the sleeve, are out of registration to close the compartment. Detents establish open and closed positions of the sleeve which is pendulously urged to the closed position. In alternative forms of construction the closure sleeve is absent and a sliding or hinged door closes the opening to the mail compartment.
Abstract: An extendable support is provided for selectively supporting a mailbox in either an extended or unextended position. The support generally comprises a hollow, elongated support member, and an extension arm which carries the mailbox and which is slidably extendable out of and retractable into the hollow interior of the support member. The extension arm includes a proximal pivotable mounting for mounting the mailbox into an extended position when the arm is slidably extended out of the interior of the support member and pivoted. The extension arm also includes a distal pivotal mounting for maintaining the mailbox in a horizontal orientation after the arm is slidably extended out of the hollow interior of the support member and pivoted.
Abstract: A door for gaining access to a rural mailbox. The door is hinged adjacent to the roof of the mailbox to permit its swinging movement both into and out of the mailbox and, if desired, the door may be weighted to assure its automatic closure when left unattended. A continuous seal composed of a resilient, flexible material is provided around the outer edge of the door to provide all-weather protection for the contents of the mailbox.
Abstract: A support unit comprises a ground base unit made of a sturdy pipe having annular washers. The holes in the washers are aligned and adapted to receive a support pipe which extends above the ground base unit for supporting an object such as a mailbox. The object is rotatably attached to the support pipe with elastic elements which return the object to a predetermined orientation after displacement. Also, if the support pipe is damaged, it is easily replaced.
Abstract: A mailbox comprises a hollow, closed body having an open end with a door pivotally mounted therein. A rigid mounting sleeve, formed integrally and in one piece with the body, depends from the base of the mailbox and is shaped to telescopingly receive a support post therein to securely mount the mailbox and its contents at a desired location. The door preferably has a recessed handle and a recessed signal flag pivotally mounted in the exterior face of the door.
Abstract: A dustless container for ashes or the like, comprising a receptacle having a bottom wall, a semicylindrical front wall portion extending upwardly therefrom, a flat vertical rear wall extending upwardly from the bottom wall opposite the front wall portion, and side wall portions extending between the front wall portion and the rear wall, and a cover for opening and closing the top of the receptacle, the flat vertical rear wall being adapted to stand close to a wall of a room in which the container is kept.
Abstract: An improved mail box structure incorporating existing Postal Service mail boxes for facilitating collection of mail contents thereof in a dry condition even in stormy weather and is comprised of an existing mail box of the self standing type and having internally thereof a mailbag holding frame for holding the mailbag in open position for receiving mail deposited through the existing mail receiving pivotal door chute, baffles extending downwardly from the mail box wall toward the mailbag holding frame for deflecting all received mail into the open mailbag held on the mailbag holding frame which is carried on a horizontally disposed slide structure fixed to the side walls of the mail box and positioned for slidably moving the mailbag holding frame with the mailbag held thereon forwardly through the existing mail collection door opening when the mail collection door is in open position.
Abstract: Having a base defining an inner pair and an outer pair of upperwardly-facing channels, a transparent cover having opposed edges received within the outer pair of channels, and a picture having opposed edges received within the inner pair of channels. The mailbox is mounted to a support in conventional fashion and includes a hinged door.
