Patent number: 4507549Abstract: A reset mechanism for an odometer is provided. The reset mechanism operates by means of manually rotatable structure which causes rotation of a reset shaft provided in an odometer. Means are provided for permitting manual rotation of the odometer reset shaft through an angular distance of more than 360.degree. before a stop structure is encountered. Spring means are provided to urge the reset mechanism to a start position after each resetting of an odometer. The reset mechanism requires only about half as much manual rotation as the necessary reset rotation for the convenience and ease of the operator.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1984Date of Patent: March 26, 1985Assignee: Chrysler CorporationInventor: Nelson W. Patent number: 4221327Abstract: A counter comprising a U-shaped frame, a plurality of digit wheels each having a heart-shaped cam, pinions respectively located between adjacent digit wheels for shifting the digit, a zero resetting bracket which supports the pinions and including a plurality of press members for pressing the heart-shaped cams, a reset button for operating the zero resetting bracket to disengage the digit wheels from the pinions and to press the heart-shaped cams with the press members thereby resetting the digit wheels to zero and drive means for driving the digit wheel. A plurality of slots are provided in the frame at positions beneath respective digit wheels for receiving respective heart-shaped cam push members. A cover including a magnifying lens for reading the numerical data displayed by the digit wheels is mounted on the frame to cover the digit wheels. The reset button is supported by the cover.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1978Date of Patent: September 9, 1980Assignee: Tamura Electric Works, Ltd.Inventors: Susumu Sato, Koji Hamada

Patent number: 4197452Abstract: In a counter reset to zero by a push button and adapted to be mounted on a tape recorder or the like, there are provided a U shaped frame including a bottom plate, a pair of side plates, a spacer parallel with the side plates, a plurality of pinion aligning resilient members secured to the bottom plate, a digit wheel shaft supported by the side plates, a plurality of digit wheels rotatably mounted on the digit wheel shaft, and a driving gear rotatably mounted on the digit wheel shaft for driving a digit wheel of the lower most order. Each digit wheel comprises a heart shaped cam and a gear on one side and a carry pin gear on the other side. A zero resetting bracket is pivotally mounted on the frame and is provided with actuating members for actuating the heart shaped cams. The digit wheels are rotated by the source of drive of the tape recorder through the driving gear and each time a digit wheel of the lower order completes one revolution, a digit wheel of the higher order is rotated by one digit.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1979Date of Patent: April 8, 1980Assignee: Tamura Electric Works, Ltd.Inventor: Susumu Sato
