Toy Cash Registers Patents (Class 235/1E)
  • Patent number: 4366375
Abstract: A coin register toy bank adapted to accept and totalize coins of different size. Each coin is deposited in the receiver of a rotary drum mounted above a coin box, the drum being operatively coupled by an intermediate clutch plate to a register wheel having a circular series of teeth on the side thereof facing the drum. The drum is manually turned by a pull-down lever from its normal coin-receiving angular position to an extreme position at which the receiver is aligned with the entry of the cash box into which the coin drops. As the drum turns, the register wheel is caused by the clutch plate which engages the teeth thereof to advance incrementally to an extent depending on the size of the received coin, thereby indicating the deposit. To prevent the advancing wheel from overshooting and misindicating the deposit, an interlock mechanism is provided which is triggered when the drum assumes its extreme position and then acts to detent one of the wheel teeth to prevent any further wheel advance.

  • Patent number: 4311901
Abstract: A cash register mechanism has targets swingable up and down between a lowered concealed horizontal retracted position and a raised visible position close to and behind a window by means of pushrods actuated by key levers. The pushrods have latchable keeper lugs which when the pushrods move up, bear laterally against a flange on a pivoted latch plate, and move to a position above the flange where the flange can underlie the keeper lugs to maintain the pushrods and targets raised. The latch plate is spring biased toward latching position. The keeper lugs tend to cam the latch plate toward the released position and bow the pushrods in the opposite direction. The latch plate is pivoted at the bottom and the flange inclines upwardly and laterally therefrom toward the pushrods. The pushrods are relatively flexible. When a keeper lug overlies the flange, spring biases oppose releasing movement of the latch plate, permitting additional targets to be raised without camming the latch plate to released position.

  • Patent number: 4307534
Abstract: A toy having a chassis generally configured to simulate a cash register and a mechanism for numerically displaying a price of specific merchandise depicted on a card, is disclosed. The mechanism includes a first and a second panel of the chassis which define a slot wherein the card is at least partially positioned for pictorially displaying the merchandise. A member or plate positioned in the slot supports the card in its position wherein the merchandise is pictorially displayed. The member or plate may be removed through a child actuated lever mechanism to allow disposition of the card behind a plurality of transparent portions of the first panel. The transparent portions of the first panel are configured and adapted for displaying a plurality of numerals when reflection of light is blocked in predetermined parts of the transparent portions.

  • Patent number: 4282674
Abstract: A toy cash register for young children and the like includes a housing having an indicia display window formed on a portion thereof with an indicia display disc mounted behind the window having a plurality of different indicia thereon for selective display through the window. An electric motor is provided for driving the display disc and a plurality of push button controlled, momentary contact switches are provided for connecting the motor with an electric power source for rotating the display disc for random periods of time when the contacts are closed. The cash register includes an indexing system for automatically indexing the nearest set of indicia on the disc with the window after the disc drive motor is deenergized. A sound generator is activated by rotation of the display disc and the cash register also includes a weighing scale, a credit card facility and a manually controllable cash drawer along with a remote, hand held implement simulating an electronic tag reader.

  • Patent number: 4195423
Abstract: A toy cash register device which closely simulates the operation of an actual real life cash register having a plurality of program plates depicting thereon various items of merchandise and monetary values therefore with each plate having a total value for each grouping of items thereon. The device is entirely actuated and operated by tensioned springs and no other source of power is required for actuating thereof. An OPEN button releases a cash drawer for positive opening under other spring mechanism. Coordinated with a program plate inserted into the device are latching pawls associated with respective monetary keys. Each program plate is provided with precoded channels along respective edges thereof which in cooperation with the latching pawls require operation of correct keys before a "ring up" occurs and simultaneously therewith a ding of an internal bell occurs.

  • Patent number: 4164319
Abstract: A toy cash register for displaying sales amount indicia including a plurality of corresponding indicia legs, which when manipulated cause a sales amount indicia display to be shown at the top of the register. The actuation mechanism for translating the above manipulation into a display includes a lower leg portion for each leg which defines a pawl mateable with a corresponding rotatable holding cam, each holding cam defining a cam opening for mating with the pawl. A spring biases the holding cam in a clockwise rotational direction and each such cam controls motion of a display indicia arm connected to a sales amount indicia display.

  • Patent number: 4093848
Abstract: A toy cash register including, in one embodiment, a plastic case having a drawer compartment at the bottom and main mechanism and target display compartments above the drawer compartment. A horizontal metal frame plate defines the top of the drawer compartment and the bottom of the main mechanism compartment. The targets and their operating and release mechanism are supported on the top of the metal frame plate by a plastic target frame carried thereby. In one embodiment a bell and clapper are supported by the target frame below the metal plate and above a cash drawer slidable in the bottom compartment. In another embodiment the bell and clapper are located under the drawer. The means for opening the drawer consists of a wire spring formed as a simple loop of generally circular form which reacts outwardly against the drawer and inwardly against the case. In one embodiment the spring is carried by the case, and in another embodiment by the drawer. The drawer is guided by a portion of its operating mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4025756
Abstract: A toy cash register having vertically slidable plastic indicator targets and plunger-type actuating keys which are integral with the targets and with interconnecting parts including hinging portions. When raised, the targets are held up by resilient fingers formed on and integral with a rockable plastic latch plate which is swingable to release the targets. The working and locating parts, formed primarily of plastic, interlock with each other and with supporting portions of a metal housing structure so that the need for separate fasteners is virtually eliminated.
