Specific Scanning Detail (e.g., Scanner With A Specific Scanning Field Of View) Patents (Class 235/462.32)
  • Patent number: 7520433
Abstract: A method for intelligently controlling the illumination and imaging of objects while being moved through a 3D imaging volume. As an object is being moved within the 3D imaging volume of a digital image capturing and processing system projecting a plurality of field of views (FOVs) through the 3D imaging volume, and prior to illumination and imaging. A projected trajectory is determined for the object through the 3D imaging volume. The FOVs which intersect with the projected trajectory of the object, passing through said 3D imaging volume, are determined. Only the determined FOVs are selectively illuminated as the object is moved along its projected trajectory through the FOVs, while digital linear images of the object are formed and detected, for storage and subsequent processing of information graphically represented in the digital linear images.

Abstract: A method of selectively generating one or more scan lines from a multi-scan line scanner involves measuring the pulse widths of the pulses in a signal output of a motor driving the polygon mirror of the scanner wherein the signal relates to the position of the polygon's mirror facets. By measuring and distinguishing each of the pulses in the signal, the illumination of the scan beam can be synchronized with the rotation of the polygon mirror to only generate a desired number of scan line patterns that is less than the full complement of the scan line patterns capable of being generated by the multi-scan line scanner.

Abstract: Apparatuses, methods and systems used to reduce the time needed to process images of a bar code or optical code captured by a image bar code scanner. Inage bar code scanners read bar codes or optical codes by capturing digital images of the codes using an image capture device and then processing the captured images to decode the optical code or bar code. The processing time is reduced by rotating the images to align the axis of the codes contained in the captured images with the rows of photo detectors in the image capture device.

Abstract: A tag reader and the tag are disclosed. The tag comprises a barcode pattern layer and horizontal line segments, which are connected to form an RF antenna. The antenna is further electrically connected to an RF chip, wherein an RF chip data is recorded in the RF chip. The tag reader comprises an RF signal transmitter for transmitting an RF transmitting signal to detect a tag. When an RF reflecting signal has been received, a light source module is enabled to shoot a scanning light source for scanning the tag; therefore, a tag comparing signal can be obtained. Thus, the advantages of the barcode and RFID tag can be integrated, the application field of the tag will be broadened, and the reliability of tag data reading is enhanced due to the double check mechanism.

Abstract: A digital imaging-based bar code symbol reading system comprising: an area image formation and detection subsystem having a CMOS area image sensing array with an image capture mode; a LED-based illumination subsystem for producing narrow-band illumination; and a narrow-band transmission-type optical filter subsystem integrated within the hand-supportable housing of the device. During the image capture mode, and only when substantially all rows of pixels on the CMOS area image sensing array are enabled and simultaneously ready for photo-integration, the LED-based illumination subsystem is activated so as to produce narrow-band illumination into the FOV of the area image formation and detection subsystem while the automatic light exposure measurement and illumination control subsystem automatically measures the light exposure incident upon a central portion of the FOV, and controls the time duration that narrow-band illumination is produced from the LED-based illumination subsystem.

  • Patent number: 7209271
Abstract: A display apparatus includes a scanning assembly that scans about two or more axes, typically in a raster pattern. A plurality of light sources emit light from spaced apart locations toward the scanning assembly such that the scanning assembly simultaneously scans more than one of the beams. The light sources are positioned such that their beams each illuminate discrete regions of the image field that are substantially non-overlapping with respect to the other discrete regions. The image is thus formed from a set of “tiles”. By activating a first light source during a forward sweep of the mirror and activating a second light source during a reverse sweep of the mirror, two halves a common line can be written during a single sweep of the mirror. Shifting the position of the sources such that the two halves are aligned reduces raster pinch. In alternative embodiments, the same approach is used for imaging.

  • Patent number: 7204424
Abstract: A portable electo-optical scanner for reading a target bar code having a plurality of bar code elements. The portable scanner includes: a housing supporting a scanning module and an exit window. The scanning module scans the target bar code with a scanning beam and collecting reflected light returning from the bar code. The scanning module includes: a beam source emitting a scanning beam; photodetector circuitry; and a retro-reflective oscillating mirror including a light collection mirror and an integral scanning or beam directing mirror. The scanning mirror is positioned to intersect the scanning beam and direct the scanning beam through the exit window. Oscillation of the oscillating mirror causes the scanning beam to be repetitively scanned along a scanning direction across the target bar code. The light collection mirror has a field of view that follows the scanning beam.

  • Patent number: 7204422
Abstract: Systems process an input signal, derived from a binary optical code, having a series of multiple successive local peaks of the same given polarity. The circuit comprises a peak detector, a node in the peak detector, and a set-reset flip-flop. The peak detector has an input receiving the input signal and produces an output that approximately tracks the input signal while it is sloping in the direction of the given polarity and that approximately holds near those local peaks having successively larger magnitude. A node in the peak detector has a voltage indicative of whether the peak detector is in a tracking or holding state. The set-reset flip-flop has a set input connected to the node, whereby the output of the flip-flop is high when the peak detector is in a tracking state. The circuit is useful for qualifying optical edges in a bar code.

  • Patent number: 7198195
Abstract: An optical system and method for data reading. A preferred system is directed to a scanner which includes a laser diode and a beam splitter for generating first optical beam and a second optical beam, the first optical beam being directed toward one side of a scanning optical element such as a rotating polygon mirror and to a first mirror array, the second optical beam being simultaneously directed toward a second optical element such as another side of the rotating polygon mirror and then to a second and a third mirror array. The first mirror array is configured to generate a scan pattern through a vertical window and the second and third mirror arrays are configured to generate scan patterns passing through a horizontal window. In combination, the three mirror arrays generate three sets of scan lines so as to scan five sides of a six-sided item (e.g., the bottom and all lateral sides of an object) being passed through the scan volume.

Abstract: A scanning unit for a position measuring device for scanning a measuring graduation thereof, includes a scanning structure provided on a carrier and formed such that, by interaction of electromagnetic radiation, with the measuring graduation and the scanning structure, a periodic stripe pattern is generated. A detector arrangement includes detector elements of different phases that generate output signals having a phase shift. The detector elements form a periodic pattern, and each detector element is assigned exactly one region of the scanning structure referred to as a bar. The detector elements are combined to form two detector groups. Detector elements of the same phase belong to the same detector group, and the detector elements within one detector group are interconnected. The bars of each detector group cover an active area of equal size. The area center of gravity of the area covered by the bars of the detector groups coincide.
