Patent number: 5629509Abstract: An axle counter which compares axle passage pulses generated in an electromagnetic rail contact with a predetermined threshold value and, when this threshold value is exceeded, feeds an axle counter pulse to presence-of-trains indicating equipment, is equipped with overwritable memories (SMA, SMI) for storing this threshold value. In response to a setup command entered manually by depressing a key or transferred from a distant control facility (STW), the memories can be overwritten with a current axle passage pulse value or a statistically determined value corresponding to an average axle passage pulse. This eliminates the need to reposition the rail contact at regular intervals and permits this repositioning to be replaced by an adaptation of the threshold value to the axle passage pulses, which change as a result of rail wear, for example.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1995Date of Patent: May 13, 1997Assignee: Alcatel Sel AktiengesellschaftInventor: Helmut Uebel

Patent number: 5422466Abstract: This invention relates to a revolution indicator housed inside a casing. The indicator has a plurality of wheels with the numerals 0-9 on the outer periphery of the wheels. The numerals are viewed through a window from the outside of the casing. Each wheel is also encoded magnetically such that each wheels' rotational position can be determined electronically. The rotational position of each wheel can be displayed electronically at a remote location outside the casing.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1994Date of Patent: June 6, 1995Assignee: Wako Seiki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masahiro Saitoh, Hiroshi Katoh

Patent number: 5331388Abstract: A counter assembly which can be used in a toner cartridge has a generally circular rotatable actuator member fixedly mounted on one end of a shaft having a screw thread on its surface, a magnet made of a molded compliant magnetic material mounted on the screw thread surface of the shaft adjacent to the actuator member. The magnet is secured against rotational movement but is permitted longitudinal movement along the screw thread surface of the shaft. The actuator member is rotated in a direction to transport the magnet along the screw thread surface of the shaft away from the actuator.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1992Date of Patent: July 19, 1994Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Joseph J. Patent number: 4711991Abstract: A counting apparatus comprising a drum counting mechanism and a step motor for driving the drum counting mechanism. A housing for the drum counting mechanism includes a wall which forms a part of the housing for the step motor, the step motor including a rotor with a rotor shaft, which shaft extends through the wall. The step motor includes a stator coil which is supported on an extending portion of the housing for the step motor. Alternatively, a bearing and flange unit may be provided which extends through an opening in the common wall and which may have an extending portion on which the stator coil is mounted in surrounding relationship.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 1987Date of Patent: December 8, 1987Assignee: IVO Irion & Vosseler Zahlerfabrik GmbH & Co.Inventors: Andreas Haller, Werner Pfundstein, Heinrich Hall

Patent number: 3999705Abstract: A device adapted for special use in a reset timer/counter unit to return various digital counting subwheels to their reset condition after a timing or counting cycle. The device includes a first ring formed from a permanently magnetizable material having a generally circular first pole surface with a set of opposite polarity magnetic poles arranged in a selected pole pattern on the first pole surface and means for securing the first ring onto one of the subwheels or other device to be returned to a selected position. The second ring formed from a permanently magnetizable material is provided with a generally circular second pole surface generally facing the first pole surface and having opposite polarity magnetic poles arranged in a pole pattern matching the selected pattern of the first surface with poles of the first surface generally facing opposite polarity poles of the second surface when the members to be controlled are in a selected angular returned, or known, position.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1975Date of Patent: December 28, 1976Assignee: Gulf & Western Industries, Inc.Inventor: Max Baermann
