Patent number: 7740183Abstract: The disclosure relates to a thermostatic mixer, including a device for the dynamic regulation of the cold water flow which supplies the mixer. A resistance is generated to the flow of cold water supplied to the thermostatic mixer when small flows of mixed water are required, and said resistance is lifted or reduced when large flows of mixed water are required. Said operation is automatically carried out by devices for dynamic regulation of flow, whereby the flow cross-section provided for the incoming cold water is reduced when the drawn flow is reduced and a larger flow cross-section reestablished when a larger flow is required.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2007Date of Patent: June 22, 2010Assignee: Masco Corporation of IndianaInventor: Alfons Knapp

Patent number: 7673808Abstract: A thermostatic cartridge regulates hot and cold fluids to be mixed, and a mixer tap one such cartridge. The cartridge includes two disks which are used to adjust the flow of hot and cold fluids and which each include a passage for hot fluid, a passage for cold fluid, and a passage for a mixture of both. The disks are movably joined to one another. One of the disks is connected in rotation to a member for controlling the flow of the mixture, while the other is fixed. In order to do without a turbulator in the cartridge, the flow section for the mixture through the disks, which is defined by stacking passages for the mixture in the joining plane of the disks, varies according to the configuration of the control member. The majority of the thermo sensitive part of a thermostatic regulation element is positioned upstream of the disk joining plane in the direction of flow of the mixture.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2005Date of Patent: March 9, 2010Assignee: Vernet S.A.Inventors: Christian Mace, Gérard Le Clanche

Patent number: 7669776Abstract: A thermostatic mixing valve for hot and cold water has two-stage inlet chambers for the hot and cold water flows respectively. The inlet chambers distribute the flows uniformly with respect to porting for admitting the flows to the mixing chamber to reduce asymmetric flow patterns and promote thorough mixing of the flows within the mixing chamber.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2007Date of Patent: March 2, 2010Assignee: Kohler Mira LimitedInventors: Nicholas John Beck, Sean Patrick Conway, Bruce Lewin John Hayward, Kevin Taylor Peel

Publication number: 20090308939Abstract: The invention provides a thermostatic mixing valve for use within a water discharge fixture. The mixing valve comprises a cover defining an interior region, a stationary lower disk residing within the interior region, and a moveable upper disk. The lower and upper disks each have a central opening and at least one peripheral groove, wherein the grooves are alignable to form a peripheral water outlet. The mixing valve also includes a spindle assembly extending through the cover region and operably connected to the upper disk to enable alignment of the grooves and formation of the water outlet. A pressure relief cavity is formed between the spindle assembly and the cover, and wherein water flows through an opening in the spindle assembly and into the relief cavity.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 17, 2008Publication date: December 17, 2009Inventors: Keping Li, Jusheng Xiong

Patent number: 7597270Abstract: A mixing valve has a valve housing, a thermostatic valve in the housing having a collar extending outward along an axis from the housing, and a stem axially shiftable in the collar. A sleeve surrounds the collar. A retaining part and interengaging screwthread formations between the part and the housing press the part against the sleeve and collar and thereby secure the collar and the sleeve on the housing against axial and angular displacement relative thereto. A handle is rotatably supported on the sleeve and threaded on the stem.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2005Date of Patent: October 6, 2009Assignee: Grohe Water Technology AG & Co. Publication number: 20080121282Abstract: A single lever valve for mixing hot and cold liquids has a mixer which can internally impose an upper limit on the temperature of any liquid emerging from it. The means used may enable the upper limit to be changed by exchange of a component so that the mixer can be used in any location in an installation even though different locations might have different upper limit requirements. The mixer may take the form of a cartridge able to be exchanged with an existing cartridge to convert an “unsafe” mixer to a “safe” one.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2004Publication date: May 29, 2008Inventors: John William Green, Ian Moran
