Cooled Element Patents (Class 236/97)
  • Patent number: 11445642
Abstract: An information handling system includes at least one air mover configured to cool a device of the information handling system. An air mover control system may control a speed of the air mover at or below a first air mover target speed to maintain a temperature of the device at or below a target temperature that includes a first target temperature and a second target temperature. If the air mover speed is greater than a second air mover target speed and the temperature of the device is greater than the first target temperature, then the target temperature may be set to the second target temperature. If the air mover speed is less than the first air mover target speed and the temperature of the device is less than the first target temperature, then the target temperature may be set to the first target temperature.

  • Patent number: 8893980
Abstract: Various methods related to air moving devices in electronic systems are disclosed. Various electronic systems including controlled air moving devices are also disclosed. Thus, one example electronic system includes an air moving device, a sensor for monitoring an operating parameter of the electronic system and generating a signal representative of the operating parameter, and a controller for controlling the air moving device. The controller is configured to selectively control a rotational speed of the air moving device, to receive the signal representative of the operating parameter, and to delay changing the rotational speed of the air moving device in response to the signal representative of the operating parameter.

  • Publication number: 20080251589
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for managing the temperature implemented in a speed controller (1), said speed controller comprising: several semiconductor power modules (M1, M2, M3); a heat sink (2) to dissipate the heat generated by each module (M1, M2, M3); a temperature sensor (SN) mounted on the heat sink (2); said method being characterized in that for a module (M1) it consists in: estimating the case temperature (TC—U) of the module based on a predetermined thermal model of the sink (2), a temperature (TSN) measured by the sensor (SN) and average power losses (PAV) that the module undergoes; determining a junction-case temperature (TJC); and limiting the junction-case temperature (TJC) obtained to a predetermined limiting value (TJCmax) of the junction-case temperature.

  • Patent number: 5656493
Abstract: There is disclosed herein a machine for performing nucleic acid amplification under computer control. The machine utilizes any one of a number of heating and cooling systems under control of a host computer which directs the heating and cooling systems to heat and cool a reaction-chamber-containing heat exchanger at appropriate times in the process. The reaction chambers are pre-loaded with the nucleic acid(s) to be amplified, a thermostable enzyme to catalyze polymerization, specific oligonucleotide primers, and four different nucleotide triphosphates. Also disclosed is the process for the amplification chain reaction implemented by the machine, which utilizes a thermostable enzyme.
