The bridge joint includes a fixed point having a forward integral accepting portion with a point and flanges rearward of the accepting portion. The joint also has a moveable body having a forward interface portion adapted to be slidingly accepted in the accepting portion. The moveable body has a notch adapted to accept the point. Clamping lugs are positioned on the accepting portion and the interface portion. The fixed point and the moveable body are clamped to base plates and quick release fasteners are positioned to engage the flanges of the fixed point, moveable body, and a flange of each of the standard rail sections and secure all to the base plates.

    Abstract: An expansion joint for part of a railway track arranged on a foundation has a stock rail with a stock rail head and a tongue movable with respect to and along said stock rail head, upon which at least one fastening device acys for pressing it on the stock rail. This expansion joint enables the rail foot to be lingitudinally moved with little friction and excludes tipping of the stock rail or tongue. For that purpose, the tongue is not bolted, but pressed only against the stock rail by the fastening device, and the force thus transmitted is decomposed into components that act, on the other hand, in the direction of the foundation and, on the other hand, in the direction of the stock rail head. The force is transmitted by a rolling element extending from a shaft which is anchored to the foundation.

    Abstract: A sliding joint of the type designed to permit expansion and contraction between adjoining ends of rail sections in a single or double track system is characterized by having a rail point defining an extension of one adjoining end which is both lengthened and reinforced along the area adjacent to its juncture with the one adjoining end to more effectively absorb and distribute stresses imparted under wheel loading. A limit stop for the curved end of the rail section is mounted on the base of the joint ahead of the juncture of the rail point with the one adjoining end of the rail so as to further alleviate stresses imparted by the curved rail to the rail point when the curved rail undergoes maximum expansion.
