Cam Adjustment Patents (Class 238/341)
  • Patent number: 11180893
Abstract: A rail fastening device comprises a clip (10) having a base (11) and a nose (12) for engaging a rail flange (F). The base (11) comprises circular aperture (14) in which a circular cam (13) is rotatably mounted, the cam (13) being provided with an eccentric aperture (24) for receiving a ground anchor (25), the cam aperture (24) being radially offset from the rotational centre of the cam (13) to define a cam lobe (15). The cam (13) may comprise a ramped circumferential shoulder (18) to engage a complementary shoulder (21) inside the base aperture (14) such that any rotation of the cam (13) under the applied load of the rail causes the cam (13) to move axially of the base aperture (14) thereby tightening the engagement of the anchor (25) on the cam (13) and preventing movement of the clip (10). The degree of rotation of the cam (13) may be limited so that it can only turn in the tightening direction under load.

  • Patent number: 8944340
Abstract: A mounting plate fixed to a longitudinally extending rail is secured by a plurality of bolts in a substrate. The mounting plate is formed at each bolt with an array of ridges. An adjuster plate formed with a vertically throughgoing transversely elongated slot through which the respective bolt extends has a lower face formed with an array of downwardly projecting generally complementary to the ridges of the mounting plate and an upper face formed with a central recessed seat defined between two longitudinally extending and parallel edges at a predetermined transverse spacing. A gauge plate formed with two parallel outer edges spaced apart by a distance substantially equal to the transverse spacing of the seat edges and with an eccentric circular hole of a diameter substantially equal to an outer diameter of the shank of the respective bolt that extends vertically through the circular hole fits in the seat.

  • Patent number: 6092735
Abstract: An adjustable rail anchorage device including a rail clip and a cam rotatable around a fixed mounting bolt for laterally moving the rail clip into anchoring position on the rail. The cam includes a passageway for the mounting bolt and a circular boss portion with an outer circular wall having a gap defined at projected wall positions where the projected perimeter of the wall approximately coincides with the projected perimeter of the passageway to transfer lateral loads from the rail to the mounting bolt. A welded platform base with a raised haunch for locating the mounting bolt can be used to transfer lateral loads from the rail to the raised haunch.

  • Patent number: 5344072
Abstract: An adjustable rail anchorage arrangement comprises: a support surface (24) for supporting a rail (26). A platform base (4) is fast with this support surface and a boss (9) is upstanding from the platform base. A passageway in the boss captively receives a threaded bolt and nut assembly (1/2/23) having a shaft (2). A rail clip (15) has a hole (17) that encompasses the boss and the shaft and there is a cam (18) having a hole (20) whereby the cam is fitted over the boss and the shaft. A cam surface of the cam engages the rail clip whereby rotation of the cam causes lateral movement of the rail clip, whereafter the cam can be clamped in position by the bolt and nut assembly.

  • Patent number: 5135165
Abstract: A rail clamping device is provided for aligning and clamping the flange of a rail to a support surface. A slotted clip is fitted over an anchor bolt or other suitable connector, a plate cam washer having an eccentric hole is placed upon the clip, and a nut threaded upon the bolt to secure the clip and washer to the rail flange. The clip has a slotted base portion which slidably engages the support surface in a loose condition and bears upon the support surface in a clamped condition. An abutment portion extends from the base perpendicular to the support surface to engage the outer face of the rail flange. A cantilever portion extends forwardly from the abutment portion and has a bottom surface to which a synthetic rubber strip is bonded to engage the upper surface of the flange to clamp the flange to the supporting surface. The cam washer slidably engages the top surface of the base portion in a loose condition. The cam washer has an outer flank for engaging a rearward face of the abutment portion.

  • Patent number: 4802624
Abstract: The present application describes a rail clip assembly, particularly but not exclusively for securing a crane rail to a flanged girder. The rail clip assembly comprises a body member (1) which has a base portion (2) for connection a rail support surface (3) and a lip portion (4) which can, in use, overlie an edge of a rail (5). The body member has a first surface (6) which, in use, extends parallel to the rail and abuts a lateral face of the rail, a second surface (8) facing away from the first surface and an elongate slot (9) for receiving a connector for connecting the body member to the rail support surface. The slot (9) extends in a direction which is generally inclined with respect to the first surface (6). The assembly further comprises a pivoting member (13) which pivots about a point which is located on the body member, the pivoting member including an aperture (14) for registration with the slot (9) and for receiving the connector.

  • Patent number: 3934800
Abstract: A track rail anchorage comprises a base member having projection flanges projecting from the two ends thereof, either of which may be placed so as to locate over the flange of a rail to be located in position. The base is provided with asymmetrical mounting means so that when one projection flange in location with the rail flange is exchanged for the other, the position of the new projection flange relative to the rail will be displaced towards or away from the rail, thus catering for possible displacements of parts of the rail due to distortion defects. Additional adjustment of the anchorage position may be achieved by employing a variable, eccentric, mounting in the base to receive a mounting bolt fixed in the ground.
