Recirculation Within Nozzle (e.g., Burner Nozzle Cooling) Patents (Class 239/125)
  • Patent number: 4261513
Abstract: A fuel injection nozzle includes a fuel pressure actuated valve member slidable in a bore and engaged by a piston slidable in a cylinder of smaller diameter than the bore and connected thereto the space defined between the piston and valve member communicates by way of a non-return valve with the end of the cylinder remote from the bore. In operation fuel is displaced from said space past the non-return valve and the pressure in the end of the cylinder remote from the bore rises to increase the force acting to maintain the valve member in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4235375
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuated fuel injection valve and its utilization in a dual plane, single point fuel injection system are disclosed. The single point injection system includes a throttle body having an air induction bore controlled by a throttle assembly for each plane of the internal combustion engine manifold. An integrally formed fuel injector jacket mounts an injector valve above the throttle blade and concentrically with each bore of the throttle body without a hard fuel connection to the valve. The injection valve includes a movable valve needle attached to the armature of an electromagnetic solenoid. The needle seats between an inlet orifice and a metering orifice of a valve housing which is inserted into the accumulation chamber defined by the inner wall of the injector jacket. A flexible or soft connection is maintained between the valve housing and injector jacket to seal the accumulator chamber and to provide for quickly mounting or removing the valve from the system.

  • Patent number: 4215820
Abstract: An injection device having at least one injection nozzle arrangement for intermittent discharge of a prescribed quantity of fuel. The nozzle arrangement is actuatable in response to an increased fuel pressure in the nozzle arrangement, and has an inlet communicating with the nozzle arrangement for supplying fuel. An outlet communicates with the nozzle arrangement for partial return of the fuel to provide a flow of fuel through the nozzle arrangement and thus uniflow scavenging and cooling of the injection device. The flow of fuel is limited between the inlet and outlet at least temporarily to allow an increase in fuel pressure required to actuate the nozzle arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4193546
Abstract: A dispensing gun for mixing, then pouring or spraying reactive components, many of which have high viscosity. The gun consists of a material or mixing head or body having a plurality of chambers or canals connecting input ports through passageways and valves in close coupled relationship to a mixing chamber. Valves for purging or flushing the mixer body are also closely coupled to the input parts and mixing chamber. A rotatable mixing grid and mixing sleeve are removably retained in the mixing chamber and can be easily removed for adapting the gun for use with a static or motionless mixer. A high torque pneumatic motor located on the mixer center line drives the mixer grid in the mixing chamber. The mixer body has three or more material inlets, four valves, and a connection for the pneumatic motor all closely coupled to the mixing chamber. The arrangement of valves and pneumatic motor connections permits the device to be easily adapted for completely automatic operation.

  • Patent number: 4179069
Abstract: To maintain the pressure with which fuel is injected from a fuel injection valve uniform during the injection period and to provide for atomization of the injected fuel by delivering the fuel through a nozzle adjacent a swirl chamber from a valve in which a continuous fluid flow is maintained from an inlet opening to a drain opening, an auxiliary valve is located adjacent the nozzle and coupled to the nozzle opening member, typically a needle valve cone, to interrupt return or drain fluid flow so that the full pressure of fuel delivered to the swirl chamber is available during injection time and the swirl action maintained, thus atomizing fuel being injected.

  • Patent number: 4062492
Abstract: A nozzle for applying adhesive or other liquid to a surface comprises a box-like member with a slot in one of its faces, and an internal partition separating first and second components in the box-like member. One or more projecting portions of one edge of the partition extend into the slot, while other portions of the partition's one edge are recessed to form a weir over which liquid may flow between the components. The slot, through which liquid passes for application to the surface, is thus an interrupted slot, applying a series of short lengths of liquid to the surface, which is of advantage in obtaining a clean separation of the nozzle and the surface after liquid application. The box-like member may be in two parts, one on each face of the partition, and these three members may be bolted together to allow easy replacement of the partition if a change of slot configuration is required.

  • Patent number: 3985300
Abstract: This invention discloses a self-purging injection valve comprising at least one supply port, at least one purging waste port, an injection port and an injection port barrel, the injection port barrel projecting from the injection port through the valve in communication with said supply port and purging waste port, and a valve stem having an internal passage and being adapted to slide within the injection port barrel between a purging position and an injection position, to seal the injection port, to block the direct flow of materials within the injection port barrel external to the valve stem between the supply port and the purging waste port, but to otherwise permit the flow of purging fluids from the supply port along the internal passage and about the valve stem within the injection port barrel to the purging waste port when said valve stem is in the purging position and to open the injection port and to permit the flow of materials from the supply port within and without the valve stem to the injection po

  • Patent number: 3968931
Abstract: A pressure jet atomiser of the centrifugal swirl type wherein a forced vortex is gradually accelerated, by being directed through a smoothly converging passage, and is thereafter refined and thinned. Refining of the vortex occurs in a constant diameter nozzle throat section and thinning is achieved by passage through a smooth diverging diffuser downstream of the throat. A constant spray angle for the thinned vortex is achieved by providing the diffuser with an abrupt set-back.
