Abstract: A sprinkler includes a turbine, a nozzle, a gear train reduction and a reversing mechanism that rotatably couples the gear train reduction and the nozzle. The gear train reduction includes an input stage and a planetary gear drive output stage that includes a first portion of the reversing mechanism. A second portion of the reversing mechanism is located outside of the gear train reduction. The second portion of the reversing mechanism includes a pair of arc tabs. At least one of the arc tabs is adjustable to establish an arc of coverage of the sprinkler when the water flowing past the turbine causes the gear train reduction and the reversing mechanism to oscillate the nozzle back and forth between a pair of arc stops. The arc stops are defined by the locations of the arc tabs. The input stage of the gear train reduction includes a mechanism that allows manual rotation of the nozzle between the arc stops without having to back drive the gears in the input stage.

Abstract: A water-powered multi-mode waterway oscillator has a main conduit directing a main fluid flow. The main conduit has a fixed end, and a driven gear coupled to a rotatable end. Control conduit redirects a portion of the main flow to turn a waterwheel, drive shaft, and main drive gear. A rotatable engagement arm with first and second ends has a center of rotation concentric with the drive shaft, a continuous drive gear is rotatably pinned to the first end and configured to engage the main drive gear and the driven gear, and an oscillating drive gear is coupled to the drive shaft, rotatably pinned to the second end, and configured to engage the driven gear. The engagement arm may be manually rotated between first and second positions. Abstract: Improvements in a sprinkler head where the sprinkler head can deliver a single stream of water droplets in a three dimensional direction and then precipitate equally onto any selected terrain area which minimally scatters the water droplets. The solid stream nozzle can shoot the water stream in a preset partial arc as well as 360 degrees while the sprinkler head rotates in a horizontal circular direction to cover an equal precipitation on an entire irrigation area. The 3D Rotor consists of the vertically swivel turret which is moved vertically to change the trajectory angle by the rotating cam integrated with the turbine and reduction gear. The solid stream nozzle can deliver the water stream in a radial direction range which is changed by the angle of the trajectory which is then changed by the rotating cam containing a calculated curve.

  • Patent number: 8011602
Abstract: Many areas watered by prior art oscillating sprinklers are substantially rectangular. However, prior art oscillating sprinklers typically produce generally or substantially elliptical water distribution patterns. This geometric incompatibility causes problems and inefficiencies. Embodiments of the current invention include an oscillating sprinkler that automatically produces a substantially rectangular water distribution pattern. The substantially rectangular water distribution pattern may be produced by automatically controlling the distance from the sprinkler that streams of water travel before impacting the ground. This is accomplished by automatically and sequentially opening and closing and/or restricting flow to select nozzles at select points and within select portions of the oscillation cycle. A current invention oscillating sprinkler may reduce waste water, may reduce run-off waste water, and may automatically provide water to the corner areas of typical substantially rectangular areas to be watered.

Abstract: A multi-stage swing horticultural watering appliance comprises: a base, a water-dispensing basin, a swing device, a spraying cover and a swing outlet pipe. The base is formed in a center thereof with a circular receiving recess for accommodation of the water-dispensing basin, an inlet hole and an outlet connector are arranged at two opposite sides of the receiving recess of the base, a plurality of inlet apertures is formed in an outer periphery of the water-dispensing basin, and in the water-dispensing basin are provided with a water-supplying pipe and a plurality of water-separating boards. In use, water flows through the inlet hole of the base and into the water-dispensing basin via the inlet apertures. When the water-dispensing basin is full of water and the pressure therein reaches to a certain level, the water will flow into the swing outlet pipe via the inlet hole thereof and will be sprayed out via the spraying apertures.

Abstract: A water shutoff and discharge control apparatus for sprinklers comprises a water intake apparatus mounted to a support seat and swung back-and-forth by a sprinkling control assembly. The water intake apparatus has a tube with a platform and multiple outlets thereon, and both end sections of the tube have multiple control channels each connecting to the interior of the tube for the extension of a control rod there-through. Each control rod has a flat surface with a water-sealing member and a water-sealing area disposed thereon to match to the outlet, permitting the water-sealing member to abut watertight against an internal plane surface of the platform and slide along with the movement of the control rod to correspond to the outlet for water shutoff/discharge control thereby. Besides, the contact area between the control rod and the platform can be reduced, facilitating easier and more efforts-saving operation of the control rod thereby.

  • Patent number: 7255291
Abstract: A multifunctional sprinkler structure comprises a water motor having an outlet seat and a top cover mounted to a top-end side, and two adjusting seats and a water supply seat assembled onto a bottom-end side. The bottom-end side of the water motor has a guide groove with a restrictive hole for the extension of a switch shaft there-through. The outlet seat has a water-discharge chamber with multiple barriers extending thereon corresponding to an impeller of the water motor, and an oblique-extending central guide port matching to a spray nozzle having multiple water-guiding ribs obliquely extending towards the same direction therein. Therefore, the barriers of the outlet seat and the water-guiding ribs of the spray nozzle are utilized to correspond to the direction of the water flow so that the water discharge can be easily switched to eject either in more direct and forceful column-like spray or in more expanding spray.

Abstract: A rotary sprinkler having an adjustable arc segment whose angular extent and absolute direction relative to the ground are represented by an arc indicator, which arc indicator may comprise a band whose visible length represents the angular extent and whose position on the sprinkler points to the direction. The sprinkler may have the arc segment adjusted by a movable arc limit stop that is coupled to a toggle member only at drive reversal, and the sprinkler may be converted to full circle operation by raising the arc limit stop relative to a cooperating trip tab. A buckling spring assembly used to shift the drive comprises a compression spring held between two spaced pivot members, and the drive can be built in continuous and intermittent drive versions by replacing a few normal rotary gears with multilated gears. A friction clutch having asymmetric teeth for smooth operation prevents damage to the drive during forced nozzle rotation.
