  • Patent number: 8746593
Abstract: A liquid chemical dispenser for an irrigation system comprises a removable supply container for the chemical which, in a first embodiment, comprises a valve for preventing spillage of the chemical during attachment of the container to the dispenser. This feature allows the container to be mounted in an inverted position on the dispenser without loss of its contents. In a second embodiment, the chemical container comprises a membrane which is pierced by a dip tube when the container is attached to the dispenser. A section of the dip tube produces an annular vent passage in the membrane around the dip tube to provide vacuum relief. The configuration of the containers substantially reduces the chance of inadvertent contact with the contents and the simple design permits the containers to be disposable.

  • Patent number: 7757966
Abstract: A device is disclosed that uses a flow-control methodology to control sprays at very high precision and frequency. The device is based on an enhanced Coanda effect. The control flow is selectively applied to the region in which we desire the jet to vector and control the profile (width) of the jet. In one embodiment, the control flow is applied at the desired circumferential location by the action of a rotting disk with a flow passage of a size that spreads the jet the desired amount. The size of this flow passage may be controlled by using two overlapping disks with large holes in each. By rotating one disk relative to the other, the size of the resultant passage can be modified.

  • Patent number: 7384005
Abstract: A spray head assembly is provided for use in RV's, motor homes, campers and the like having gray and black water waste tanks. The spray head assembly allows for easy and thorough cleaning of the tanks to rid the tanks of sludge and debris that accumulates therein potentially causing unsanitary and unsafe conditions. Different forms of the invention are described for either retro-fitting or for factory installation on new RV's. The preferred form of the spray head assembly includes a mount having a planar flange for attachment to the outside wall of an RV waste tank. An aperture formed in the tank wall allows the spray head assembly to penetrate therethrough. By attaching a water conduit to the spray head assembly the nozzle of the spray head assembly will rapidly rotate by the pressurized water directed therein and will forcefully spray water through a plurality of channels in the nozzle. The sprayed water strikes the interior tank walls with great force, dislodging the sludge and debris buildup.

  • Patent number: 7246756
Abstract: A water sprinkler for irrigating lawn and garden areas has two axes of movement, one transverse to the other. A barrel moves or oscillates on one horizontal axis to direct water spray from nozzles carried on the barrel across the length of the area, and the nozzle outlets also simultaneously move or oscillate on axes transverse to the barrel axis to spray water across the width of the area. As the nozzle outlets move or oscillate in the two transverse directions, the ground area is irrigated uniformly over time by application of water in a criss-cross pattern. The area sprayed can be surprisingly large compared with single-axis oscillators, or the area may be limited to a single row or a narrow rectangular area, by adjustment of the barrel and outlet movement and/or the water pressure.

  • Patent number: 5725002
Abstract: A dish washing machine having upper and lower spray assemblies with separate spray arms and separate water supplies for washing and rinsing dishware. A spray base for each spray assembly segregates recycled wash water from clean incoming rinse water. A hollow drum mounted to each manifold has side discharge openings. A ball bearing assembly mounts the wash spray arms for rotation about the drums. A conduit for the rinse water extends through each drum and connects with a spindle on which the rinse spray arms are mounted for rotation. The upper and lower spray arm assemblies are interchangeable. The bearing assembly is uniquely constructed such that it is automatically flushed with clean rinse water during each cycle of operation.

  • Patent number: 5697392
Abstract: A spray assembly for a dishwasher includes a fluid pump and a spray tower. The spray tower includes a lower stationary member and an upper rotatable member and includes a fluid cavity therein. The rotatable member has at least one spray opening adjacent its upper end. A spray nozzle directs a stream of washing fluid upwardly into the spray tower and moves the stream of washing fluid in a circular pattern. The stream of water engages the upper rotatable member of the spray tower and the upper rotatable member rotates in response thereto. One form of the invention uses a deflecting surface on the rotatable member for causing rotational movement of the rotatable member and for causing precession of the rotatable member. Another modification of the present invention utilizes a pair of intermeshing gears for causing precession of the rotatable member.

  • Patent number: 4760963
Abstract: An agricultural spray device comprising rotationally reciprocating spray heads moving in opposite directions relative to one another, provides for delivery of a liquid spray in a uniform pattern with little or no drift from the target zone. The spray heads which each carry one or more spray nozzles are set in rotationally reciprocating motion by eccentric drive connections from a common rotating drive. The spray nozzles are fed from a remote liquid supply tank through a liquid distribution system in which all joints between component parts are fixed relative to each other to eliminate the need for liquid seals between parts which move relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 4741351
Abstract: A parts washer and a method of washing parts. The parts washer has a cabinet having a rotatable turntable for carrying parts in a circular path and an oscillating spray manifold has spray nozzles directed toward the top, bottom and side of the parts and is caused to oscillate in an advancing movement counter to the direction of travel of the parts on the turntable and a return movement. The rate of travel of the spray nozzles varies in the two directions of movement with slower travel in the advancing movement and fast return movement to insure that successive sprays delivered by the spray nozzles in the advancing movement overlap on the parts to avoid any striping effect on the parts.

  • Patent number: 4509687
Abstract: A dishwashing machine including upper and lower dish supporting racks and a liquid wash spray assembly having a rotating arm for spraying water upwardly on the lower dish load and an extendable top wash tube which sprays liquid at an intermediate level between the upper and lower dish supporting racks in the machine. A liquid diverting system provides means for automatically alternating the flow of water between the rotating spray arm and the extendable top spray tower. Water is directed continuously to a jet port on the spray arm which insures that the arm will continue to rotate independent of the liquid diverting system when the water is diverted to the top spray tower. The spray arm and tower each deliver effective water flow on an alternating basis while the overall flow rate and the total water consumption is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4503811
Abstract: A method and apparatus for deslagging boilers and the like while steaming, wherein a quenching-type stream of water is first applied to the outer surface of the hot slag to induce the formation of fissures by embrittlement and contraction of the slag and thereafter while the fissures are still present the fissured surface of the slag is impacted by a high velocity pulsed jet which drives water into the fissures, whereby dislodging of the slag is aided by the expansive force of water which vaporizes in the fissures. A generally conventional blower is illustrated, equipped with dual liquid supply and projecting means, and pulsing mechanism for interrupting the flow of blowing medium to one of the projecting means, to create the pulsed jet.
