  • Patent number: 9038926
Abstract: An attachment to be employed with any spray device is disclosed. The attachment includes four vanes which are radially attached to an air hub with a central aperture, the central aperture adapted to receive the front portion of the spray device therethrough which when activated dispenses an atomizable substance in a pattern toward a workpiece. At the distal end of each of the four vanes, the vane is angled forward such that it generally points toward the workpiece. At the terminal end of each vane is a plurality of compressed air exit apertures. A compressed air source is attached to the air hub which guides the air through air conduits interiorly disposed within each of the vanes, where the compressed air is forced to exit each of the compressed air exit apertures forming an a second pattern which surrounds the atomizable substance pattern, and further boosts or pushes the atomizable substance onto the workpiece.

Abstract: Disclosed is an ultrasonic spray coating system comprising an ultrasonic spray head with integrated fluid delivery system (IFDS), which consists of an ultrasonic transducer with a spray forming tip, an ultrasonic generator, an external liquid applicator, a precision liquid delivery system and air directors. The coating liquid is delivered to the spray forming tip on the ultrasonic transducer from an external liquid applicator. The liquid is stored in a pressurized reservoir and fed to the liquid applicator by a precision liquid delivery system. The ultrasonic vibrations of the spray forming tip break up the liquid into small droplets and propel them from the tip in the form of a spray. The spray produced with ultrasonic energy alone is a very narrow “sheet-like” pattern. The width of the spray pattern produced is equal to the width of the spray forming tip (2 mm to 4 mm). Air directors are used to produce air streams to further shape and accelerate the ultrasonically produced spray.

  • Patent number: 4927080
Abstract: A field spraying device comprises an elongated spray beam provided with a plurality of spray nozzles (12). The field spraying device comprises an at least partially inflatable hose (18) connectable to a compressed-air source. The hose comprises a slotted discharge opening (13) extending in the longitudinal direction of the hose. The spray nozzles (12) spray the liquid into the air flow approximately 200-300 mm below the slotted opening which results in a uniform discharge of material. In this manner the spray beam can be situated close to the ground and the crop, respectively, with the effect that a possible wind movement is reduced. The slotted discharge opening (13) is pivotally mounted by utilizing the fact that the at least partially secured hose (18)is made of a resilient material. In other words the invention utilizes the feature that the resilient top portion allows a turning movement in such a manner that the discharge opening can be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 4905899
Abstract: A device for gas atomising a liquid stream, such as a stream of molten metal or metal alloy, has an atomising device including, for example, an annular opening for receiving the stream. The atomising device is arranged for applying atomising gas to the stream so as to form a spray of atomised particles. At least a part of the atomising gas, and preferably all, is applied by means movable relative to the stream whereby movement is imparted to the spray to achieve improved uniformity or control of deposition by moving the spray either by moving the atomising device with a symmetric gas flow field relative to the stream or by oscillating or rotating a rotor mounted within the atomising device and arranged to produce an asymmetric gas flow field.

  • Patent number: 4324361
Abstract: An atomizer has a channel through which material to be atomized, preferably comprising a transport gas and a powder, liquid or granular material, flows in a first direction. At or slightly downstream from the downstream end of the channel, preferably an atomizer gas is injected into the stream to be atomized, the injection occurring at an angle to the first direction. Preferably the atomizer gas is injected to impart a rotary motion to the stream. At the downstream end of the channel is a funnel-shaped outlet whose surface is so shaped that the stream can adhere to the interior surface of the outlet under the Coanda effect, producing an atomized cloud of transversely uniform density. A gas jacket may be used to control the shape of the cloud. The flow of both the atomizer gas and the gas forming the gas jacket is preferably adjustable in speed and direction.
