  • Patent number: 7255294
Abstract: A three part housing for a battery powered spray head includes a left half shell, a right half shell and a hinged top. The batteries are located in the upper portion of the housing below the hinged top (battery cover). The inner front of the top is provided with a downward depending latch member and a spring biased latch member is provided inside the housing. The spring biased latch member is actuated by inserting a pin (or stylus) through a hole in one of the half shells. This prevents accidental opening of the battery cover.

  • Patent number: 7219848
Abstract: An electrically-powered fluid sprayer employs a piezoelectric fluid pump that includes an inlet port, an outlet port, a pump chamber, and a piezoelectric element that is deformed and displaced by electrical signals supplied thereto to vary the volume of the pump chamber. Such displacement pumps fluid into the inlet port and into the pump chamber and discharges fluid from the pump chamber out the outlet port. The inlet port is in fluid-communication with a fluid reservoir. Spin mechanics may be disposed downstream from the outlet port of the fluid pump and upstream from the discharge nozzle. The piezoelectric fluid sprayer may be extended to include a dual chamber piezoelectric pump that pumps different fluids (e.g., a liquid and air). The output of the dual chamber pump is mixed in a manifold and supplied downstream to the discharge nozzle. Spin mechanics may be employed in the fluid stream upstream from the discharge nozzle after the mixing.

Abstract: An indexing nozzle assembly for a trigger sprayer has a manually rotatable cap mounted for rotation on a base of the nozzle assembly. Rotation of the cap relative to the base changes the nozzle assembly between an off condition where the nozzle assembly prevents liquid discharge from the trigger sprayer, and a combination of a spray condition, a stream condition, and/or a foam condition. The indexing nozzle assembly is provided with a child resistant feature in the form of a lock mechanism that prevents rotation of the nozzle cap relative to the nozzle base from the cap off condition position. The lock mechanism can be manually manipulated with one hand to disengage the lock mechanism, thereby permitting rotation of the nozzle cap from its off condition position relative to the base.

Abstract: A side-handle mist sprayer has a mist-liquid container (3) with a side handle (1) vertically above a container base (2). A finger aperture (4) is positioned between a front container extension (5) and the side handle. A spray-trigger pump (6) having a spray trigger (7) is contained in the side handle. The spray trigger is positioned forwardly from the side handle for being finger operable with one or more fingers of a user inserted into the finger aperture for simultaneously holding the side-handle mist sprayer in a use orientation and squeezing the spray trigger to mist-pump liquid from the mist-liquid container through a mist nozzle (9) on a top-front side of the front container extension. A soft-blade fan (10) extended from a fan-power pack (11) is positioned on a front side of the front container extension. The mist nozzle is positioned to direct mist onto back sides of soft blades of the soft-blade fan for being fanned by rotation of the soft-blade fan.

Abstract: The invention comprises, in one form thereof, a sprayer apparatus that includes a disengageable pressurized fluid source, a pressure chamber in fluid communication with the fluid source, a backflow valve, a sealed vessel, and a sprayer outlet. The backflow valve has two one-way valves separated by a weep mechanism and is positioned between the fluid source and the pressure chamber such that the two one-way valves allow fluid flow from the fluid source to the pressure chamber. The sealed vessel is in fluid communication with the pressure chamber. The sprayer outlet includes a shutoff valve in fluid communication with the pressure chamber. The shutoff valve normally prevents fluid flow from the pressure chamber to the sprayer outlet and is operable to allow fluid flow from the pressure tank to the sprayer outlet.

Abstract: A device for preventing the rotation of a power drill attachment relative to a power drill is provided and is described in combination with a liquid sprayer. The device having a container (10) with a supply tube (12) extending downward into the container (10) and upward into a pump inlet (14) which is open to a pump (16.) The pump (16) has on the rearward side a pump seal (18) and a pump drive (20) and on the forward side a pump outlet (22) and nozzle (24). The pump has a rod (26) affixed to it by means of a rod attachment (28). The rod (26) extends rearward and includes an ergonomic rod pillow (30). Also included is a power drill (36) including a power drill trigger (32) and a power drill chuck (34). When energized the power drill (36) imparts rotational energy to the pump (16). Rotation of the pump (16) relative to the power drill (36) is prevented by the communication of the rod (26) the rod attachment (28) and the housing of the power drill (36).

  • Patent number: 6796510
Abstract: An aerosol tip mechanism for an aerosol-type dispenser for dispensing liquid content has a flexible outer shell, a rigid cap portion composed of lower and upper portions, and a rigid nozzle portion having a rigid shaft received within the outlet portion of the flexible outer shell. The rigid shaft interfaces the outlet portion of the outer shell, forming a first normally-closed one-way valve. The lower and upper portions of the rigid cap portion form boots adapted to receive an outlet portion of the flexible outer shell, the boots thereby constraining a lateral motion of the outlet portion of the outer shell, and symmetrically centering the outlet portion around the rigid shaft of the nozzle. The rigid nozzle portion includes a plurality of liquid channels for delivering liquid from a reservoir to a swirling chamber defined within the rigid cap portion, which liquid channels are configured to minimize energy losses of the liquid and promote a more homogeneous fluid particle size in the dispensed aerosol.

  • Patent number: 6776312
Abstract: A actuating head of a double-acting or lift and force pump for ejecting a product from a container includes an outlet duct leading to an ejection opening, wherein a valve closing piece is arranged in the outlet duct. Together with the outlet duct, the valve closing piece forms a check valve which, when the actuating head is actuated, is opened by the pressure of the product and allows the product to flow into a space defined by the inner side of the outlet duct and the circumference of the valve closing piece. This space is connected through at least one transverse groove to the ejection opening. The valve closing piece is elastically deformed by the product pressure when the actuating head is actuated and opens the check valve. The valve closing piece borders against the transverse groove and rests with its rear side against a radially inwardly protruding shoulder of the outlet duct.

Rotation of a cap changes the nozzle assembly between an off condition, a spray condition, a second off condition, and a stream condition of the liquid discharged from the nozzle assembly.
