Abstract: A nozzle that produces an outlet velocity air, or other fluid jet, is provided with safety passages which achieve the safety requirement of automatically reducing the local exit pressure “dead end” limit to 30 psig or less when the nozzle outlet is partially or completely obstructed. The safety passages do not reduce the effectiveness of the normal function of the air, or other fluid, jet through the provision of a check valve to block undesirable reverse flow in the safety passage(s) thus avoiding ambient fluid flow to the nozzle exit that degrades the nozzle's normal operating air, or other fluid, jet. This is especially useful for supersonic air gun nozzles which have been adapted to digging in the ground, and other purposes, but it is also useful for sonic and subsonic nozzles that are used for other purposes such as cleaning, and other applications.

Abstract: A cleaning device for a vehicular lamp including a piston 3, which has a spray nozzle 5 and a nozzle cover 7 covering the spray nozzle, and a cylinder 2, which drives the piston into and out of an opening 91 formed in a vehicle body 9. The nozzle cover has a cylindrical shaft receiving portion 72 extending from the rear surface thereof and an engagement hole 73a provided at a position away from the shaft receiving portion. The distal end of the piston has an engagement shaft portion 82, which projects forward and fits with the shaft receiving portion of the nozzle cover, and an engagement tab 83, which engages with the engagement hole of the nozzle cover. The engagement shaft portion fits with the shaft receiving portion and the engagement tab engages with the engagement hole by moving the nozzle cover toward the distal end of the piston.

  • Patent number: 7429146
Abstract: A marking sphere dispensing apparatus for dispensing fluid-assisted marking spheres into pavement marking materials applied to a surface has a frame defining a marking sphere receptacle, a valve seat defining an opening between the marking sphere receptacle and an expulsion duct. A plunger is disposed coaxially to the longitudinal axis of the dispensing apparatus and defines an internal fluid passage for providing pressurized fluid. The plunger is moveable in a longitudinal direction within the marking sphere dispensing frame between a first position at which a plunger head of the plunger is seated against the valve seat to close the opening, and a second position at which the plunger head is axially offset from the valve seat to define a marking sphere inlet gap across the opening. A method for applying marking spheres uses the marking sphere dispensing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7246756
Abstract: A water sprinkler for irrigating lawn and garden areas has two axes of movement, one transverse to the other. A barrel moves or oscillates on one horizontal axis to direct water spray from nozzles carried on the barrel across the length of the area, and the nozzle outlets also simultaneously move or oscillate on axes transverse to the barrel axis to spray water across the width of the area. As the nozzle outlets move or oscillate in the two transverse directions, the ground area is irrigated uniformly over time by application of water in a criss-cross pattern. The area sprayed can be surprisingly large compared with single-axis oscillators, or the area may be limited to a single row or a narrow rectangular area, by adjustment of the barrel and outlet movement and/or the water pressure.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to a dispensing nozzle for dispensing a sauce containing particulates which is configured to reduce clogging of the nozzle by the particulates. In one embodiment, a dispensing nozzle comprises a nozzle body having a nozzle cavity with a nozzle inlet and a nozzle outlet. The nozzle inlet has a bore-shape cross section. The nozzle outlet is longitudinal in shape with a length substantially larger than a width. The nozzle cavity extends from the nozzle inlet to the nozzle outlet in a flow direction and has a cross-sectional area which is substantially constant extending from the nozzle inlet along the flow direction to the nozzle outlet.

Abstract: An improved spray through cap assembly (10) comprises separable base (11) and cover parts (13). The base part includes a hollow actuator (17) which is adapted to cooperate with an outlet of an aerosol or the like. The actuator is linked to a fluid flow channel (19) formed by correspond recesses in the base and cover parts, respectively, and a nozzle outlet (20). Depressing the cover part causes the actuator to actuate the outlet and causes the contents of the aerosol to be discharged through the nozzle outlet via the fluid flow channel. In order prevent accidental discharge, in one embodiment, the base part includes a projecting lip (22) and the cover part includes a nose (21), the lip and nose cooperating in an inoperative position to prevent the actuator actuating the outlet. In a further embodiment, the cover part is formed from two separable parts and the fluid flow channel and nozzle outlet are formed by corresponding recesses in the parts of the cover parts.

Abstract: A liquid dispensing nozzle beneficial in varying or controlling the quantity of a developing liquid dispensed onto various regions of a semiconductor wafer substrate during the photolithography step of semiconductor fabrication is disclosed. The liquid dispensing nozzle includes a nozzle housing which includes a bottom dispensing opening. A shutter plate in the nozzle housing is engaged by a shutter motor which displaces the shutter plate in the nozzle head and varies the position of the shutter plate with respect to the dispensing opening. The shutter plate opening narrows as the developing liquid is dispensed onto the edge of the substrate to prevent excessive application of the liquid onto those regions. The shutter plate widens the opening as the developing liquid is dispensed onto the central region of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 6511259
Abstract: When mounted to a vehicle, a dispenser ejects optical elements so that they have a component of movement that is parallel with the surface of the pavement to which the optical elements are to be applied. Preferably, the component of movement in that direction is more significant than a component of movement directly toward the pavement surface. A fluid assist causes the optical elements to be ejected from the dispenser nozzle at a velocity to at least partially counteract, and preferably match, the forward velocity of movement of the vehicle to which the dispenser is attached. Thus, in accordance with one specific aspect of the present invention, optical elements can be laid down upon marking material that has been applied to a pavement surface at a substantially reduced relative velocity to the road surface.
