  • Patent number: 6082789
Abstract: A seal for use with a flexible wire for providing visible evidence of tampering therewith includes a housing and a wire retaining key. The housing has two passageways for passage of the ends of the flexible wire therethrough so that the ends of the flexible wire extend beyond the boundaries of the housing. The housing also includes a keyway for receipt of the wire retaining key. The wire retaining key is inserted into the keyway and intersects the passageways so that the flexible wire passing through the housing is intercepted and bears against the wire retaining key. In this manner, the wire retaining key intercepts and deforms the flexible wire, whereby removal of the flexible wire from the housing is prevented. The key also preferably includes a detent which snaps into an engaging position within the housing when fully inserted therein. An audible snapping sound may preferably be heard to indicate that the detent is in the engaging position.

  • Patent number: 6058575
Abstract: A cable clamp may be constructed from a hollow body, a wedge-shaped member and a means for dislodging the member from the body. The body includes a tapered channel that is sized and shaped to accommodate the member and round, flat or rectangular cable sections. The means for dislodging the member include an aperture extending from one side of the member to the other, at least one cylindrical bearing surface positioned at the upper end of the body, and a camshaft. The camshaft has at least one cylindrical end with an inward facing end and an outward facing end. A cylindrical shaft in orthogonally and eccentrically mounted to the inward facing end. The camshaft is positioned so that the cylindrical shaft will bear against the inner surface of the aperture and the end portion will bear against the bearing surface. When the camshaft is rotated, the cylindrical shaft will cause the aperture and the wedge-shaped member to be displaced upwardly from the body.

  • Patent number: 5988929
Abstract: A cable socket wedge has two wedge halves held apart by at least three blocks, such that cutting the blocks allows the wedge halves to collapse inward, loosening the wedge and cable in the socket. Crushable inserts are located in the spaces between adjacent pairs of the blocks, between the wedge halves so as to provide sufficient crushable volume to allow the wedge halves to move toward each other when the blocks are cut. The wedge is employed with a socket having a window therein. The window is positioned in the socket such that, with a properly sized cable and wedge, the central of the three blocks is accessible through the window in the socket when a cable is secured and tightened with the wedge in the socket.
