Abstract: In a tie including an elongated tongue with a locking head at one end of the tongue, a tip at the other end of the tongue, a first set of ratchet teeth extending along one broad side of the tongue and a second set of ratchet teeth extending along the other broad side of the tongue, wherein the locking head has sides defining an opening for receiving the tip of the tongue, a movable pawl that is hinged at one side of the opening and an abutment surface that is across the opening from the pawl, wherein the pawl has pawl teeth disposed for engaging the first set of ratchet teeth, and wherein stationary teeth are disposed on the abutment surface for engaging the second set of ratchet teeth, the stationary teeth on the abutment surface have a greater lateral extension with respect to the direction of insertion of the tongue through the opening than do the pawl teeth and the second set of ratchet teeth have a greater lateral extension with respect to the direction of insertion than do the first set of ratchet teeth

Abstract: Chorded lines such as ropes, electrical cords, etc. may be maintained in an orderly, untangled, coiled line bundle arrangement by a unique portable harnessing device. The harnessing device includes a flexible strap (such as a leather, woven fabric, etc.) fitted with an adjustable buckling assembly which may be looped about and adjustably sized so as to tautly harness a variety of different coiled line bundle sizes. Unbuckling the buckling assembly unharnesses the coiled line bundle so as to permit its removal from the harnessing strap. The device is equipped with an auxiliary harness which permits separate harnessing of a segmented portion of the line from the main coiled line bundle.

Abstract: A strap for securing a bundled power cord for convenient storage and a power tool having a power cord to which the strap is substantially permanently secured. The strap has fastening elements on two extended surfaces and a pair of slots through which the cord is passed to attach the strap to the cord. The slots, shown as slits, are sized relative to a plug on the cord so that the plug resists withdrawal of the cord from the slots and the flexible strap remains permanently on the cord without impeding the use of the power cord or tool. The attached strap is wrapped around the bundled cord, with the fastening elements on one side of the strap engaging the fastening elements on the other side of the strap to form a fastening and secure the cord. In preferred forms the strap is a flat strip of material carrying molded hooks on one side, synthetic resin integral with the hooks serving to secure loop material defining the opposite side of the strap.

Abstract: A quick connector for joining pipes having grooved ends has a circlip which is contracted circumferentially and locked in the contracted condition, the inner diameter of the circlip, when in the contracted condition, being less than the outer diameter of the pipe, the inner diameter of circlip and the bottom wall of the pipe groove including surface configurations that are interfitted in the contracted condition of the circlip, and which inhibit relative rotation between the quick connector and the pipe in addition to locking the connector against axial removable from the pipe.

Abstract: A rectangular band disposed in a closed loop about a cable coiled in a hank to facilitate the handling and storage of the hank when the cable is not in use. The band has two adjacent longitudinal slits through which a cable end is projected to hold the band on the cable when it is used and also so it is readily handy to again bind the cable after its use into a hank. In its position on the hank, the band holds the end of the cable projected through the slits in the same plane as the hank and thus provides a flat, compact condition in the hank and in the cable end that is favorable for handling and storage.

Abstract: A horse blanket keeper consists of only two pieces: a strap consisting essentially of a substantially elastic fabric material having integral hook and loop material of one gender on one side, away from the horse, traction enhancing rubber ribs on the opposite side, facing the horse, and a connector piece of the opposite gender affixed at one end of the strap, with its fastening surface facing opposite that of the strap, so that when the strap is passed around the horse, the piece can be adhered at any position to the strap.

Abstract: An induced-draft fan pipe mounting device for mounting an induced-draft fan pipe to an electric soldering iron, including a mounting strip mounted around the handle of the electric soldering iron and having a series of through holes along the length, two connecting plates connected together by a screw to hold the mounting strip on the handle of the electric soldering iron, each connecting plate having a first lug at one side inserted through one through hole on the mounting strip and overlapped on a back side of the mounting strip, and two opposite second lugs respectively covered over the back side of the mounting strip; and an induced-draft fan pipe holder having two lugs at one end respectively fastened to either two adjacent through holes on the mounting strip, a holding device at an opposite, which receives the induced-draft fan pipe.

Abstract: A bundling strap for bundling various objects, such as newspapers (40). The strap consists of a tongue (2) (optional) on one end the strap, a locking portion (16) on the other end of the strap, a serrated portion (6) located between the tongue (2) and locking portion (16), and a smooth section (10) between the locking portion (16) and the tongue (2). The serrated portion has teeth (5 and 8) on both of its longitudinal sides, and the serrated portion has a pair of parallel holes (22 and 23) which are in line with the teeth, so that the teeth (5 and 8) can be inserted into the respective holes (22 and 23). The locking portion (16) has two bendable flaps (18 and 20). The flap (18) has a longitudinal slot (34) and the flap (20) is formed with a pointed tab (30). Bendable ears (32 and 33 ) are formed on the tab (30). In order to tie an object, such as the bundle (40), it is placed on section (10) of the bundling strap, which is laid flat on the ground.

Abstract: An adjustable document and file organizer is provided in the nature of an adjustable band which forms a continuous loop for securing a stack of such documents and files in an organized and secure manner. The band is formed in the nature of a flexible strip which may be die stamped or blanked from suitable materials such as stiff paper, cardboard, sheet plastic material and the like. The ends of the flexible strip are constructed and arranged to be cooperable with each other to provide relative sliding engagement therebetween to vary the girth of the band which is faciliated by a locking scale. The overlapping end portions are formed with cooperating elements in the nature of a locking tab and slits to prevent expansion of the organizer when in use. A plurality of score lines formed in the flexible strip allows for the convenient adjustment of the organizer to accommodate stacks of documents of varying thickness.

Abstract: A tamper-proof bracelet is disclosed, which comprises an elongated band having at least one opening at one end, and a fastener at the other end. This fastener is in the shape of a housing having circumscribing walls, two of which are transverse to the band, a top wall and a bottom wall. At least one of the transverse walls is formed, close to the bottom wall, with a through aperture size to allow snug insertion of the one end of the band into the housing. Above the aperture and solid with the transverse wall is a locking tongue extending lengthwisely in the housing and gradualy tapering down into a thin edge, the tongue being resilient at least in the area of the thin edge and having a length sufficient to engage the opening in the one end of the band when the same is pushed into the housing through the aperture.

The first and second end portions have a locking means for securely fastening the strap around a stack of paper recyclables. The center portion may include means for cross-linking two identical bundling straps.

Abstract: A spoke holder comprising a pair of identical structural members which attach to the frame of a bicycle in a variety of locations. The spoke holder, in addition to bicycle frame attachment means, has multiple channels passing therethrough, each channel being capable of securely and removably holding a single spoke. Two different embodiments of the spoke holder are described which may be securely attached to the bicycle frame by the adjustment of either a screw or a plastic tie.

Abstract: A fastening means for fastening a protective or covering sheet material, such as plastic film or textile material, to a scaffold or another frame structure is formed like a strip or band having a film-piercing pointed end and an adjacent barb-like member. The opposite end portion having aplurality of resilient, longitudinally spaced barb-like projections may be passed through an opening or slot in the band-like member. When the sheet material is to be fastened to the scaffold the sheet material is punctured by means of the pointed end. The head formed by the pointed end by the barb-like member is then passed through the opening thus formed in the sheet material. Thereafter the strip member is passed around an adjacent element of the scaffold and inserted through an opening formed in the strip member. The connection thus formed between the sheet material and the scaffold may now be tightened up by pulling the free end of the strip member in the direction indicated by an arrow.

Abstract: A loop clamp is provided for binding a wire bundle together or for attaching such a wire bundle to a support member. The loop clamp includes a base and a flexible strap having first and second surfaces on opposite sides. One surface includes a plurality of upstanding hook elements and the other surface a plurality of upstanding loop elements, each extending over a substantial area of the strap. One end of the strap is attached to the base and the other end may be passed through an opening formed in the base, thereby providing a size-adjustable loop. Respective upstanding hook and loop elements of the guided length of strap and an outer portion of the loop may be engaged, thereby fixing the size of the loop and binding wires or the like therein.

Abstract: A flexible case hanging device for hanging and extending a flexible case such as an inner bag for a container comprises a belt member one end of which is fixed to a side edge along one edge of a corner of the inner bag and a free end of which is anchored by a buckle provided on a side edge along the other edge of the corner, and an annular body provided at a vertex of the corner. Part of the belt member passes through the annular body to form a loop of the belt member. The loop is adjustable into smaller sizes by pulling the free end of the belt member. The loop is fixed to an inner wall of the container. The free end of the belt member is fixed by the buckle. When the free end of the belt member is pulled to make smaller the loop of the belt member, the side edge and the vertex of the corner of the inner bag can be pulled to eliminate or prevent slack of the bag.

Abstract: An emergency drive belt is provided formed of an elongate elastomeric member whose ends are coupled by a resilient plastic strap in the form of an adjustable loop which can be ratcheted to tension the belt device.

Abstract: An audio equipment carrier with built-in speakers for personal portable radios, tape players and the like. The carrier is adapted to be clamped or otherwise mounted on the handlebars of vehicles such as bicycles, tricycles, mopeds and motorcyles. The speakers project rearwardly from the handlebars toward the rider and are on opposite sides of a front control arm or stem. The carrier has a generally flat top and the audio equipment is held thereon by a releasable strap. A plug and leads provide electrical communication between the audio equipment and the speakers. The carrier may be equipped with a battery and audio amplifiers to enhance the sound produced by the audio equipment. A novel strap and buckle combination is also disclosed.

Abstract: A strap device for luggage, bags, cartons or the like to prevent the luggage from opening when subjected to rough handling. The strap device includes a pair of straps which encircle the luggage and pass on either side of a handle on the luggage. A pair of cross straps are secured between the encircling straps and confine and surround the handle such that the device cannot be slid off or pulled off the luggage. No additional connection or attachment between the strap device and luggage is required. Various mechanical and hook and loop fasteners can be used to secure and tighten the encircling straps.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a locking mechanism for locking an endotracheal tube to a respirator, and the method of using the same. The locking mechanism comprises two clamp mechanisms and a strap interconnecting them. One of the clamp mechanisms is tightened around the endotracheal tube, and the other clamp mechanism is a quick-release clamp that is clamped onto the respirator connector in a quickly releasable manner.

Abstract: A rope guard and rope bundle keeper includes an elongate, flexible body having lateral edges extending between two ends. The body has a slit at each end; the slits extend inwardly away from the lateral edges in directions perpendicular to the length of the body. The body is made of a flexible, protective material, such as thick leather. As a rope guard, the body is placed between the tie down rope and the item to be protected in a region where the rope changes direction. The rope lies against the top or outer surface of the rope guard in the region between the two slits but passes through the slits to help maintain the rope guard in place. As a rope bundle keeper, the body is wrapped around the rope bundle so that it circumscribes the bundle. The two slits are inserted one into the other so to maintain the body in a ring-like, rope bundle keeper orientation.

Abstract: The bracelet clasp comprises a sleeve attached to one of the bracelet tongues. The sleeve includes transversal teeth on a part of the sleeve wall contiguous to the wrist. Such teeth cooperate with complementary teeth arranged on the other tongue of the bracelet. The sleeve is elastically deformable in the transversal sense in order to allow disengagement of the meshing teeth and thereby opening of the bracelet.Such a bracelet may be formed as a single piece from a plastic material such as polyurethane.

Abstract: A unitary plastic material cable strap fastener having a flange with a plug member on one side for engaging in a hole in a panel to hold the fastener in position. The plug having a stem with a head at its end and rows of radial wings arranged along its length. A stud extends from the opposite side of the flange coaxial with the plug. A flexible strap member is attached to the flange by a bifurcated end having a pair of legs formed by an opening in the strap end. The strap extends from the flange in the same direction as the stud with the stud extending into the opening with the legs straddling the stud. The strap is provided with a series of stud receiving openings for engaging the stud when the strap is formed into a loop. The flexible legs of the strap permit the strap to be rotated or folded relative to the longitudinal axis of the plug and stud so that it extends perpendicular thereto to permit the stud receiving openings to engage the stud.

Adjacent pairs of links are movable between a first position of mutual alignment and a second position at right angles to one another about a pivot. Abstract: A bowling aid device and method are operative to circumferentially compress the knuckle portion of a bowler's digit and reduce the same prior to insertion of the digit into the corresponding digit hole of a bowling ball. The device comprises a flexible and inextensible strip-like or ring-like compression member adapted to be applied completed around the knuckle and adjustable locking means operative to tighten the compression member in wrap-around compressive engagement with the knuckle for a preselected period of time. The resultant circumferential reduction of the knuckle provides optimum sliding engagement of the reduced digit within the corresponding digit hole in the bowling ball and improved bowling performance.

Abstract: Mounting means for mounting a printing plate on a printing plate cylinder are provided. The mounting means include a mounting member or sheet made of a plastic sheet material which is solvent resistant, strong, dimensionally stable, conforms truly to the printing plate cylinder, and is of uniform thickness. The leading edge of the mounting member is turned back to form a structurally-integral lip thereon which is readily connected to a mounting flange on the printing plate cylinder. The mounting means further include a mounting strap which affixes the mounting member on the cylinder with the lip engaged with the flange of the cylinder. The mounting strap has a first portion received in an opening of the mounting member and a second portion having an integral lip which engages another mounting flange of the printing cylinder.
