  • Patent number: 5730348
Abstract: A fastening for securing an apparatus, such as a pager or a mobile telephone, to a belt is disclosed. The fastening includes a body, a board and a flexure strip attached to the apparatus. The body defines a recess in a front portion thereof for receiving the flexure strip and has a plurality of ratchet teeth uniformly distributed at two opposed sides of a rear portion thereof. The board is movably received in the rear portion of the body and has pawls integrally formed thereon for engaging with respective pair of the ratchet teeth. The pawls has a press bar integrally formed therebetween and a hook is integrally formed at a rear end of the board for abutting the belt. By this arrangement, a space is defined between the board and the back of the apparatus, which can be adjusted and adapted for receiving different belts with various widths. Also, the direction of each ratchet tooth is configured to enable the board to move only toward the front portion of the body so that the belt can be securely gripped.

  • Patent number: 5519893
Abstract: A flexible belt has a single male engagement member at one longitudinal end portion and a plurality of closely spaced female engagement members at its other longitudinal end portion. A belt keeper is supported near one longitudinal end portion of the belt to align the longitudinal end portions transversely when the single male engagement member engages one of the closely spaced female engagement members when the belt is tightened against the waist of a wearer. The belt composed of an inner lamina and an outer lamina to support a base member for each engagement member and for the belt keeper is constructed and arranged to hide from view the engagement members and the belt keeper when the belt is tightened around the waist and is free of any bulk increasing mass or localized folding that increases the bulkiness of the belt. If the belt has a buckle, the latter is used for belt ornamentation rather than connecting the longitudinal end portions of the overlapping end portions of the belt.

  • Patent number: 5333361
Abstract: A keeper clip for attachment to a belt or strap which is formed as a single piece from a plastics material. The clip includes a pair of arms which are connected at one end through a flexible bight portion and are connectable at their other end through a releaseable locking means. When the locking means is operative, the clip is in the form of a closed loop and a section of belt or strap is receivable in the space surrounded by that loop. When the locking means is released, a gate can be opened so that a section of belt or strap can be moved into or out of the aforementioned space. The locking means is operated or released by relative movement of end portions of the clip arms in a direction which is substantially transverse to the direction of relative movement of those end portions during opening or closing of the gate.

  • Patent number: 4986457
Abstract: The closed loop cable system was designed for preventing the theft of coats, but could be used for many other applications. When used for theft prevention, a length of cable is passed through one or both sleeves of the coat to form a loop, and the cable ends, which are provided with mating ferrules are then mated together and then crimped. The cable loop through bath sleeves prevents anyone from trying the coat on, and through one sleeve enables customers to try the coat on, but alerts clerks that it has not been paid for, and thus prevents anyone from putting a coat on and walking out without paying for it. A specialized tool is used to crimp ferrules on the ends of the cable together, and the same tool can be used to cut the cable.

Abstract: An article injection molded from a thermoplastic material, e.g., a polypropylene or acetal polymer, for use as a belt loop stay. A first strip is provided at each end with a flange. When unstressed, the first strip is straight, except for the flanges. A second strip, which is thinner so as to be more flexible, is joined integrally to the flanges, so as to form a closed loop. When unstressed, the second strip is bowed toward the first strip, between the flanges. The first strip has a stiffening rib, which stiffens the first strip against flexing on lateral axes. The second strip has several stiffening ribs, which stiffen the second strip against flexing on longitudinal axes but permit the second strip to flex on lateral axes. Beveled edges on the first strip facilitate insertion of a belt from either side of the first strip.
