Abstract: A suture system for closing a wound defined by tissue portions includes an elongate suture having a pair of ends adapted for threading relative to the tissue portions leaving the suture ends free. A securing mechanism has a first position for capturing the suture ends and a second position for permanently holding the suture ends in a fixed relationship, with the suture tensioned to maintain the tissue portions in close proximity. In a third position, the securing mechanism frictionally engages the suture ends in a sliding relationship. In an associated method, continuous tension is placed on the suture ends during operation of the securing mechanism.

Abstract: A molded metal member has an opening to receive the end of a leather belt. The front face may be embossed or engraved decoratively, and the rear face is formed with a V-shaped slot oriented to achieve a locking action with the leather belt when upset inwardly at assembly with the belt.

Abstract: A clasp for cloth neckwear and the like including a first clamping member designed to substantially encircle a first end of the neckwear and fixedly clamp the first end in a retained position, a second clamping member designed to substantially encircle a second end of the neckwear and fixedly clamp the second end in a retained position, and clasping means mounted on the first and second clamping members, the clasping means being manually engageable and disengageable for forming the neckwear into a continuous loop about the neck of a wearer. The neckwear is tied with a standard knot and severed in the back to provide the two ends and the clamping members are affixed to the ends after stretching the cloth slightly.

Abstract: Device for affixing the extremities of elastic straps to the interior lining of an article of luggage, said strap used for compacting clothing tightly together.Each extremity of the strap (1, 2) is fixed by a plaque (5), said plaque provided with two lateral edges, said edges provided with notches (6) that are pushed in by force into the corresponding lodging to which they are coupled within the lining of the article of luggage.

Abstract: The closed loop cable system was designed for preventing the theft of coats, but could be used for many other applications. When used for theft prevention, a length of cable is passed through one or both sleeves of the coat to form a loop, and the cable ends, which are provided with mating ferrules are then mated together and then crimped. The cable loop through bath sleeves prevents anyone from trying the coat on, and through one sleeve enables customers to try the coat on, but alerts clerks that it has not been paid for, and thus prevents anyone from putting a coat on and walking out without paying for it. A specialized tool is used to crimp ferrules on the ends of the cable together, and the same tool can be used to cut the cable.

Abstract: An overlapped end of a strap is secured to a member such as a hook by an attachment device comprising a substantially U-shaped clamp made of deformable material such as metal plate and having a flat bottom formed with a series of transverse recesses and a securing member including a plate body formed with a series of transverse spiny protuberances. Said overlapped end of strap extends between the securing member and flat bottom of the clamp for connection by press to flatten side walls of the clamp and plunge the protuberances of the securing members into corresponding recesses with spikes piercing the overlapped strap.

Abstract: An overlapped end of a strap is secured to a member such as a hook by an attachment device comprising a substantially U-shaped clamp made of deformable material such as metal plate and having a flat bottom formed with a plurality of openings, a securing member including a plate body formed with a plurality of openings and rivets. Said overlapped end of strap extends between the securing member and flat bottom of the clamp for connection by press to flatten side walls of the clamp and plunge the rivets into corresponding openings in the securing member and clamp member by piercing the overlapped end of the strap with bottom ends of the rivet being hammered flat under the flat bottom of the clamp member to prevent slipping.

Abstract: A clip and process for its manufacture includes feeding a strip into a cutting and bending machine. The strip is formed into blanks such that one end of the blank has two prongs. The border of the area between the prongs on the first end matches the outline of the prong on the second end. The clip is then bent into a C-shape and the prongs are bent inwardly.

Abstract: The harness comprises a carrying strap and a gripper. The carrying strap is formed from a soft material. Another strap formed from a stronger, less resilient fabric is attached to the soft strap at uniformly spaced intervals and in such a way that the second strap forms loops at its points of attachment to the soft strap. With this arrangement, the soft strap can only stretch until the loops become taut. Thereafter, the stronger second strap carries the load and this prevents the soft strap from tearing when heavy loads are carried. The gripper is formed from a resilient material and comprises a first plate and a second plate which are connected together by an arcuate web. One of the plates of the gripper has a flat body contacting surface and a loop is positioned in the arcuate web between the first and second plates for connection to a device to be carried. A plurality of pins are formed on at least one plate of the gripper.

Abstract: A belt buckle attachment clamp for connecting a buckle to an end of a belt. The attachment clamp comprises a metal piece defining a top wall having integrally formed a pair of spaced apart fingers extending from a forward edge thereof. A space is defined between the fingers for accommodating a buckle swivel pin hingedly secured to a buckle arm. The fingers are deformable to clamp about the buckle arm. A clamping flange is formed integrally with a respective one of opposed side edges of the top wall. Gripping prongs extend above an inner face of at least one of the clamping flanges. The flanges are bendable rearwardly of the top wall and spaced therefrom to define a belt end receiving throat to attach the attachment clamp to a belt end by pressing the clamping flanges on the belt end to cause the clamping flanges and the gripping prongs to grip the belt end.

Abstract: A method and article for use in making a high strength positive solderless electrical connection using a strap conductor anchored to a clamping bolt by a tempered spring clip formed with sharp crested projections. The article and method have widely varied applications including the grounding of the thin shield of a shielded cable as a mechanical tie and electrical tie around a splice between shielded cables thereby isolating the spliced connections from cable tension forces, and many other uses.
