Abstract: A method and apparatus for connecting two strand ends such as those found on jewelry pieces such as necklaces, chains and bracelets. The method and apparatus involve fastening the two strand ends using a connecting member attached to one strand and a receiving member attached to another strand end, wherein the connecting member may be removably fastened to the receiving member using a predetermined sequence of simple movements and rotations.

Abstract: A holding device comprises a clip, and a flexible cord. The cord is looped upon itself and its ends are received in a trough on a stem of the clip. The trough has laterally spaced tabs which are crimped over the ends of the cord to secure the cord to the clip. A metal tube is crimped over the trough and the cord ends, and shrink tubing is fitted over the metal tube.

Abstract: The invention includes several devices for readily transferring patients from one platform to another by one attendant. A first system of horizontal transfer of patients is adapted to use existing transfer sheets and cart appropriately modified. A transfer sheet is attached to a clamping device that has a releasable catch that holds the sheet in a cavity. A plurality of straps are attached to the clamping device. The other ends of the straps are attached to reels that are part of a winch. Activation of the winch winds the straps onto the reels. The invention also includes improved bed jackets that can be attached to a winch for lifting a patient either to re-position them on a surface or to transport them. The invention also includes devices with very low friction surfaces to assist with the transfer process.

Abstract: A metal locking clasp for securing the free ends of watch bands, bracelets and the like, having a hook and bar joining mechanism that is held in place with a first pivoting lock plate and depending lock element, is provided with a second locking mechanism that is pivotally mounted for rotation from an open position that is displaced from the closed lock plate to a locked position. The second locking mechanism consists of a cover plate and a pair of depending pivot arms, the arms being mounted in the clasp frame sidewalls at the end oppose the free end of the band. The second locking mechanism is secured by engagement of projecting elements, such as bosses, which extend between the sidewalls and pivot arms and engage openings or recesses in the adjacent surface.

Abstract: A plastic handle about two inches long has a longitudinal slot sized to receive a rubber band. After the rubber band is inserted into the slot, a locking pin is inserted into the first end of the rubber-band loop which has been inserted in the slot. The rubber band is then pulled back through the slot, thereby locking the plastic handle, rubber band, and locking pin into a bundle tie assembly. The second end of the rubber band is wrapped around an extension cord, rope, or the like and snapped around the plastic handle of the first end of the rubber band. The bundle tie assembly self-tightens to quickly and neatly secure the extension cord.

Abstract: A clasp with a locking flap (8) hingedly mounted between the arms (3a, 3b) of a yoke-shaped member (3) by means of a pin (9) extending through one portion (8a) of said flap (8). Said portion (8a) is shorter than the distance between the two arms (3a, 3b) so that the flap (8) is transversely translatable. The pin (9) has a straight portion (9c) partially inserted into a correspondingly shaped recess (13) in one arm (3b). The pin (9) is thus prevented from rotating about its own axis. The passage (14) in said portion (8a) of the flap which receives the pin (9) has an inlet (14a) shaped to fit said portion (9c) of the pin (9). A coil spring (15) on the pin (9) biases the flap (8) towards said portion (9c) of the pin (9). When the flap (8) is in the folded down or locking position, said portion (9c) of the pin (9) is inserted into the inlet (14a) of the passage (14), thereby locking the flap (8).

Abstract: A jewelry clasp has a first and a second clasp member connected to one another for closing the clasp. At least the first clasp member has a spring-weighed element for achieving a fixation of a closed position of the clasp. The first clasp member has a first end portion with a first end face and further has a first receiving opening extending transverse to the longitudinal extension of the first clasp member. The second clasp member has a second end portion with a second end face and further has a second receiving opening extending transverse to a longitudinal extension of the second clasp member. The first receiving opening is oriented oppositely to the second receiving opening. The first and the second end portions are insertable into one another such that in a closed position of the clasp the spring-weighed element is forced against the second end face of the second clasp member.

Abstract: An attachment device and method of operation is described for securing an article of clothing, such as a pair of suspenders, to a pair of pants or a skirt. The attachment device is connected to the suspenders by a loop of flexible material. An embodiment of the attachment device uses a gripping mechanism having a rotatable flap that is adapted to pass through an opening in the flexible loop. The opening in the loop is alternatively used for attachment to a button affixed to the article of clothing.

Abstract: An attachment element is made up of a middle part and two lateral movable parts linked to this middle part. In the middle part, a slot-like recess is provided in order to receive a belt, strap or loop. Using the lateral parts it is then possible for the attachment element to be connected with the flat piece of material. In this respect the middle part is arranged parallel to the edge of the flat piece of material, whereas the two lateral parts fit respectively around the flat piece of material, such as sheeting laying on opposite sides of the flat piece of material. The attachment element is able to be attached adjacent to the flat piece of material in different ways.

Abstract: A clip assembly for gripping a sheet of material. The assembly includes first and second jaw members having ramp portions which are joined along a common hinge. The ramp portions form divergent inclined planes, and are surrounded by a sliding collar. As the sliding collar is moved from the hinge area toward the grip portions of the jaws, the latter are forced together against the sheet of material. A releasable ratchet pawl locks the sliding collar against reverse movement. The clip assembly is suitable for fabrication from injection molded plastic.

Abstract: A support plate includes a support loop extending from an uppermost end of the support plate for securement relative to an individual garment, wherein a second end support plate has extending therefrom a keyhole slot arranged to receive a projecting boss and secure the projecting boss within a narrowed portion of the keyhole slot between an associated boss head integral with the projecting boss and a support web mounted to the projecting boss spaced from the head, with the sock captured within the keyhole slot by the projecting boss and boss head. For use in sporting events, a modification of the invention includes an illumination housing arranged for mounting to the keyhole slot for identification and delineation of various players relative to a sporting event such as hockey and the like.

Abstract: A combination suspenders for use with button and buttonless trousers includes interchangeable clip ends and button strap ends connected to the suspender straps via a clip carrier. The clip carrier is formed of a horizontally folded flexible material forming a channel which engages a button strap end or a connector on the clip end having a pair of horizontally extending opposed arms. In one embodiment, the clip connector is T-shaped with outwardly extending arms and engages the channel via a slit which vertically bisects the channel into opposed halves. In another embodiment, the clip connector is C-shaped and engages the channel from the outside with inwardly extending arms.

Abstract: A transferable bookmark which can be clipped to one or more pages, or to the cover, of a book. The bookmark includes a ribbon, one end of which is mounted between a flexible clip and a ribbon cover. The clip includes an inner clipping member which is hinged to an outer clipping member, allowing resilient displacement of the inner and outer clipping members relative to one another. The ribbon cover is mounted on the back side inner clipping member, over the ribbon. The inner clipping member can have a name plate adhered to the front, displaying a letter or symbol thereon.

Abstract: A child safety belt for attachment across a seat having an attaching side rod element for releasable securement of the belt thereto. The belt comprises a strap having elastic properties and a detachable securing buckle is secured to at least one end of the strap. The securing buckle has a pair of jaw members pivotally interconnected on a pivot axis to move from a closed to an open position. A first of the jaw members has a throat portion to receive the side rod element therein. A second of the jaw members has a strap attaching end rearwardly and offset from the pivot axis in a direction toward the first jaw member whereby tension on the strap urges the second jaw member against the first jaw member when the side rod is received in the throat portion and the jaw members are brought to the closed position.

Abstract: The device to secure belts and similar parts to resin structures is provided with (Ref. FIG. 4) a block B in elastically yieldable molded material is inserted by snap action in a seat 24 in helmet A engaging forcibly by means grooves and projecting parts 22 in the block itself. One of the ends of the latter is fitted with a flange 12 which engages a recess 26 in the wall of the helmet.Belt C is conveniently and directly secured to block B by folding. The end of said belt, and which is associated with a pin 20. The whole is then inserted into an aperture-slot 18-16 provided in block B and this latter is then introduced in aperture 24.

Abstract: A belt buckle construction is disclosed which has a keeper with a frame and tongue pivotably disposed on the outer end thereof for interengagement with the longitudinally perforated end of a flexible belt strap. The keeper also includes a rearwardly opening sleeve to receive the inner end of the belt strap, which may be of the reversible type. The sleeve includes an upwardly opening undercut slot which exposes a surface portion of the inner end of the belt strap. A combination belt loop and belt clamping member transversely engageable within said slot and including a projecting portion for engaging and releasably clamping the inner end of said belt within the sleeve of said keeper. This construction enables the belt to be cut to any desired length and/or reversed from one side to the other. The belt loop portion of said clamping member serves to receive and retain the outer end of the belt flat against the underlying end of the belt for a neat appearance.

Abstract: A watch strap, the two strap portions whereof are formed of a core of plastics material with a clip embedded therein. The clip has a hook-shaped end which projects from the core and forms with the core an attachment means for attaching to a watch case. That part of the core vicinal the hook-shaped end is provided with incisions to impart ease of deformability thereto so that each watch strap portion can be readily attached to and detached from its respective securing point on the watch case.
