  • Patent number: 6523230
Abstract: The invention relates to a hose coupling comprising a clip consisting of at least two semi-cylindrical cups (1a, 1b) enclosing the hose and a clamping lever (3) which via a bolt (4) is articulated on the free peripheral end of one of the semi-cylindrical cups (1a, 1b). To create a force-fit connection between the hose and a sleeve (8) inserted into same, the clamping lever can be connected to the other free peripheral end of the corresponding semi-cylindrical cup (1a or 1b) via a closing spring (6). The clamping jaw (1) can be fixed on the sleeve (8) in an axial direction by means of a flange which is mounted on said sleeve (8) in such a way that it cannot be axially displaced. The aim of the invention is to provide such a hose coupling which has a simple structure, is economical to produce and can be used as quick-release coupling for corrugated flexible hose.

The hook closure has at least one element, such as a lever made out of flexible metal wire in the form of an open buckle whose lateral arms are of unequal lengths of a value "X", the curved ends of the said arms being affixed in corresponding holes formed on another element, such as a base, on which it is mounted. By virtue of the offset "X" of the curved ends of the element, any pivoting of the latter generates a certain elastic deformation of its arms, which automatically return to their initial position as soon as the lever is released thus assuring the elastic return function.

Abstract: An overcenter clamp comprises a flexible band having a hinge end and a hooked end. The hooked end is adapted to grasp a margin of a first member. The overcenter clamp further comprises a lever arm hingedly connected to the hinge end. The lever arm has a handle and a pivot link. The pivot link has an end adapted for insertion into a socket in a second member. This enables the first and second members to be clamped together by grasping the margin with the hooked end, inserting the pivot link into the socket, and rotating the handle away from the band to a point wherein the band is tensioned and bears upon the second member. The overcenter clamp includes a retainer connected to the band adjacent the hinge end. The retainer is engageable with the lever arm to resist rotation of the lever arm with respect to the band when the lever arm is in an open position wherein the angle between the lever arm and band is sufficient so that, when the hooked end grasps the margin, the pivot link is away from the socket.

  • Patent number: 4919453
Abstract: A device for coupling the peripheral flanges of a pair of pipes comprising a pair of retaining members, each having a V-shaped groove for receiving a portion of the peripheral flanges of the pipes. The retaining members are pivotally coupled at one of their ends by a single hinge and releasably coupled at their opposite ends by an over-center latch mechanism. The over-center latch mechanism employs a compression bolt and nut to maintain a low profile. The over-center latch mechanism also has primary and secondary link members, the latter preventing the coupling from completely separating should the primary link members fail.

Abstract: Rigid shell ski boot (1) comprising a quick-tightening, quick-release foot-retaining system operable by means of a lever (9) that is angularly pivotable about an axis of articulation (15) into two extreme positions that correspond to tightening and release, respectively. The lever (9) controls an assembly composed of a threaded sleeve (6) and a nut (7) joined to an element (8) for support of a skier's foot through a movable cam (10) that forms part of the lever (9). The relative position of the cam (10), which is a function of the angular position of the lever (9), determines the position of the sleeve-nut (6, 7) assembly and either grips or release the foot.

  • Patent number: 4823445
Abstract: An improved clip device provides releasable retention of an accessory object to a primary object. The storage clip comprises a shaped clasp member having a jaw portion for secure engagement of a mounting strap, a body portion adjacent said jaw portion, a shoulder portion adjacent said body portion, and terminates in a tab portion adjacent said shoulder portion. The jaw, body, and shoulder portions are each configured to form an obtuse angle relative to its adjacent portion, and in the direction of said mounting strap, thereby defining a void or cavity between the clasp member and the mounting strap. The terminating tab portion preferably forms an angle relative to the adjacent shoulder portion and away from the mounting strap, providing a manually engageable surface for lifting the clasp member away from the mounting strap.

  • Patent number: 4800627
Abstract: A load binder includes a lever and a clevis each being connected to respective securing members for securing to a load or a tie member such as a chain or a rope. Each of the securing members includes a retaining member for retaining a swivel bolt. The swivel bolts are cast in one piece with a head and a shaft. The retaining members are also cast with an opening of suitable size and shape to receive the heads of their respective swivel bolts. While the retaining members are still at an elevated temperature from the casting process, the head of the swivel bolt is inserted through the respective openings and the retaining members are then deformed while at an elevated temperature to capture the respective heads of the swivel bolts.

  • Patent number: 4650221
Abstract: A safety clamp system for securing the lever arms of a quick connect coupling to prevent the accidental movement of the arms which would cause a failure of the coupling mechanism for two coupling pipes. Once the pipes have been joined by a standard quick connect coupling, the clamp of the present invention is positioned to encircle the lever arms and hold them down secure against the body of the coupling. The safety clamp is separate from the coupling mechanism and is itself not an aid in the joining of the pipes. The clamp arms encircle approximately 270 degrees of the pipes circumference, making contact only at a few points about the coupling's periphery, some of the contact being flat, face-to-face surface area engagement with some "L" shaped hooking, and utilizes a resilient spring biasing hooking mechanism to prevent the separate, pipe coupling mechanism from accidently becoming undone but allowing relatively easily disengagement of the clamp from the coupling when so desired.

Abstract: A collar that fits on the bar of a barbell to prevent weights from sliding off the bar. Two semi-circular sections of the collar are hinged together at one end of the sections to permit closure of the sections about the bar and a toggle linkage is mounted on the other ends of the section to hold the collar closed about the bar. Neoprene pads are affixed to the inner peripheries of the sections to grip the bar and prevent movement of weights thereon when the collar is mounted on the bar. The collar can be mounted on the bar or removed therefrom without moving the collar over the end of the bar so that weights can be placed on the bar while the collar is in place and subsequently secured by moving the collar and a weight can be removed from the bar by moving the collar to a position in which the weight is between the collar and the end of the bar prior to moving the weight off the end of the bar.

  • Patent number: 4594752
Abstract: A rope or cable connection is made between first and second lengths of rope or cable by a clamp device including an upper jaw member and a lower jaw member which are hinged together. The upper jaw member defines an open ended engagement slot through which the lengths of cable or rope extend. The jaw members may be pivoted apart to an open position, or alternatively, pivoted together to a closed position. When in the closed position, the open end of the slot is bridged by the lower jaw member and the lengths of rope or cable are compressed within the slot. A latch means holds the upper and lower jaw members in their closed position while permitting quick attachment or disengagement of the clamp device without the need for tools. Slot inserts may also be provided with the clamp device which are dimensioned to be received within the slot. The slot inserts permit cable or rope lengths of different diameters to be clamped together.
