Abstract: The clamping collar comprises a metal belt (10), two tightening lugs (12, 14), and a bridging plate (20) for bridging the gap between the lugs. The belt includes an overlap portion (22) that has its inside face provided with a setback (24) into which a first end (20A) of the plate penetrates during tightening of the collar. The setback is defined by a first joggle (26) having an end wall that forms two surfaces on either side of the longitudinal midline of the belt, which surfaces are disposed substantially symmetrically about said midline, and are inclined both relative to the longitudinal direction and relative to the transverse direction of the belt, and each of which surfaces extends over a substantial fraction of the half-width of the belt.

Abstract: A wood joint is disclosed which comprises a first heading having a first profile comprising an upper lobe, a lower lobe, and a valley section intermediate the lobes, a second heading having a second profile comprising an upper socket, a lower socket, and a ridge section intermediate the sockets, and the first profile for engaging the second profile for securing the headings together.
Abstract: A wood joint is disclosed which comprises a first heading having a first profile comprising an upper socket, a lower socket, and a flat section intermediate the sockets, a second heading having a second profile comprising an upper socket, a lower socket, and a flat section intermediate the sockets, and a spline member having a pair of tongue portions with each of the tongue portions having an upper lobe and a lower lobe, the spline member for fitting within the first profile and the second profile.

Abstract: An image display craft (10) for outdoor advertising. The craft is lighter than air, such as a dirigible airship (12), and has flat projection surfaces (16) on each of its sides. Variable static or moving images, such as advertising images or other messages, are projected onto the sides of the craft by projectors (30) which are positioned on booms (22) that extend laterally from the craft. As the airship moves around the sky the image is visible on the exterior of the craft to observers on the ground.

Abstract: A process for the handling of a tow of fibers during manufacture and subsequent processing prior to splicing is described. The process includes the step of applying a clip to the free end of the tow, prior to transport of the tow. The fiber is preferably a carbon fiber precursor, and the clip is preferably removed and the tow spliced prior to the steps of oxidation and carbonization to form the carbon fiber.
Abstract: The closing device for a closing and a repeated closing of a bag consists of a strap which is bent to form a loop by a permanent connection. The strap has an inner portion and an outer portion. The inner portion and the outer portion are connected to each other by a design rupture line and a permanent connection. The strap may be opened by partial severing of the inner portion from the outer portion and by folding out the inner portion so that an opening is produced in the outer portion. In order to close the strap again, the inner portion is inserted into the opening in the outer portion.
