  • Patent number: 7351188
Abstract: A reclosable package comprising a hooded zipper with a pair of off-center lines of perforations that are hermetically sealed by a layer of material. The lines of perforations facilitate tearing off the hood to gain access to the zipper. One method of manufacture involves joining the hooded zipper to respective web portions formed by folding a web and then slitting the folded web in two. Another method of manufacture involves joining the hooded zipper to respective web portions formed by slitting a web in two and then orienting the two web portions into mutually confronting positions. The package may be constructed to have a wicket flap.

  • Patent number: 7329217
Abstract: The apparatus applies a transverse zipper strip to a film (10) moving continuously in a direction (12). A continuous belt (18) is driven by sprocket wheels (16a, 16b) and carries upper seal bars (22a, 22b, 22c) which receive pre-cut lengths of zipper at station (3). The pre-cut lengths are attached to the film (10) by a lower seal bar (24) which moves towards the film (12) at position A when an upper seal bar carrying a zipper strip is located directly above the film. Sealing takes place as the upper and lower seal bars move at the same speed as the film (12) from position A to position B where the zipper is released from the upper seal bar (22c). The process then repeats for the next zipper strip length.

  • Patent number: 6612002
Abstract: The closure device (121) includes first and second fastening strips (130, 131) arranged to be interlocked over a predetermined length. The first fastening strip (130) includes a first flange (163) which extends from the first fastening strip in a transverse Y axis (104) towards the second fastening strip. The second fastening strip (131) includes a second flange (153) which extends from the second fastening strip in the transverse Y axis (104) toward the first fastening strip. A slider (132) slidably engages the first and second fastening strips (130, 131). The slider (132) includes a separator and the separator engages the first flange (163) and the second flange (153) during deocclusion of the fastening strips (130, 131).

  • Patent number: 6544245
Abstract: A bi-stable hook component of a touch fastener can bend into, and remain in, a stable concave position. Another stable position enables initial engagement with a mating component (e.g., a loop component). The concave position applies engagement-enhancing tension to the engaged loops, and in some cases forces end portions of the hooks into close proximity with one another to secure the fastening and to produce a curved touch fastener that, as engaged, can better conform to an underlying curved surface, such as the contour of a wearer's body. Absorbent articles having such a bi-stable fastening system are also disclosed.
