  • Patent number: 4493133
Abstract: Locking means for truck platform flaps (6) comprises a base plate (1), a handle (2) pivotably journalled in the base plate, a substantially U-shaped locking yoke (3) which is connected to the handle and pivotable in relation thereto on an axis substantially parallel to the pivot axis of the handle and which in its locking position is adapted to engage a hook (11) for holding the flap, and at least one spring (24) which actuates the handle and the locking yoke and whose one end is secured to the base plate (1). To make one and the same spring fulfill three essential functions, viz. ensuring resilient appliance of the locking yoke (3), rotation of the handle in the direction towards the base plate (1) at locked as well as unlocked (when the handle has an opening angle which is not substantially more than about 50.degree.

  • Patent number: 4385423
Abstract: An over-center latching device for coupling two members by the operation of a handle with the use of one hand. The device has a rod having a T at one end for engaging a hook, the other end of the rod being pivotally engaged intermediate the ends of the handle. One end of the handle is pivotally engaged on a support member adjacent and spaced from the pivot point of the rod. The other end of the handle is adapted to be gripped by the operator for completing the latching and unlatching operation. The support member which is adapted to be secured to a fixed member has a concave cam surface facing the pivoted end of the rod. The pivoted end of the rod has a leaf spring extending therefrom toward the concave cam surface. To engage the latch, the operator grips the handle and rotates it on its pivot so that the leaf spring is moved into engagement with the end of the cam surface.

  • Patent number: 4049301
Abstract: A toggle latch for joining together two members. The latch includes a fixed engageable keeper element adapted to be secured to one of the members and a lever assembly adapted to be secured to the other member. The lever assembly includes a bracket, an operating lever secured to the bracket by a fixed pivot and an intermediate portion of the lever, and a drawbar secured to one end of the lever beyond the fixed pivot by means of a movable pivot. The opposite end of the lever forms a handle. The movable pivot is positioned relative to the fixed pivot so that when the drawbar is engaged with the keeper and the handle is shifted to the latched position the movable pivot will be shifted around and into a latched position behind the fixed pivot. Finally, spring means is on the lever assembly to facilitate engagement of the drawbar and the keeper element, and shifting of the lever assembly to the latched position where the members are maintained in tight joined condition.
