  • Patent number: 5946776
Abstract: Wristlet clasp including first and second elements (1, 2), respectively mechanically connected to strands (5, 6) of a wristlet. A third element (3) mechanically connects in a hinged manner the first and second elements (1, 2). A cap (4) is rigidly and removably fixed to the first element (1). This cap includes two wings. The first element (1) is pierced by two transverse holes (15, 16) in which two pins or screws (35, 36) are engaged. One of these two transverse holes (35) is covered by the wings of the cap. The adjustment of the length of the wristlet is effected by connecting the first element and the third element to each other either via the first pin or screw (35), or by the second pin or screw (36).

  • Patent number: 4670947
Abstract: A bracelet or wrist watch clasp which is completely hidden when closed. Studs having enlarged heads project from a central body which engages the wrist. Side legs are hinged to each end of a central body to swing to a closed position on the body. Each let has an annular radially elastic element retained in the thickness of its wall and positioned to receive and latch on a stud as the legs are swung to the closed position. Ends of the bracelet or watch band are connected to the free ends of the legs.

  • Patent number: 4619022
Abstract: A double-safety catch for a bracelet, for example a watch bracelet, has a first closure element pivotally mounted at one end of a first portion of the bracelet for swinging about an axis transverse to the length of the bracelet. The first closure element passes through an opening in the end of the second portion of the bracelet and has a projecting catch which prevents accidental withdrawal of the first closure element from the opening and serves for locking resilient engagement with a rib on the first portion to trap the end of the second portion. A second closure element is pivotable about an axis extending longitudinally of the bracelet to cover the first closure element and to engage with a spring locking device which is manually releasable.

  • Patent number: 4546522
Abstract: A hinge (7) is used to join two parts (5, 6) of a band or bracelet, the hinge enabling the parts to be attached and detached when the parts are positioned at a predetermined angle relative to each other. The first part (6) comprises an assembly formed of a pin (10) and a first cradle (11) which partially surrounds the pin, with which it is coaxial, wherein a space (12) is provided between the pin and the first cradle. The second part comprises a second cradle (14) which is designed to slide into the space (12) and to be articulated around the pin to keep the two parts attached together within a given angular range. The invention may be employed on a folding clasp of a band for a wristwatch.

  • Patent number: 4545095
Abstract: An extensible clasp is described for use with a watch strap of flat flexible material having at one end a portion formed with a loop fitted with a buckle and at the other end a portion providing apertures for the tongue of the buckle. The clasp comprises first and second elongated portions that are connected by a hinge pin. The outer end of the first elongated portion is pivotally mounted on one of two pins of a link element, the other pin being fitted in said loop after removal of the buckle. The second elongated portion consists of a flattened sleeve into which the apertured end portion of the strap is inserted and secured by a screw. The strap thus becomes continuous and is unlikely to slip off when being fitted round a wrist. To close the clasp, the two elongated portions are folded against each other and a hole near the outer end of the first elongated portion is pressed into locking engagement with a beak element on the second elongated portion.

  • Patent number: 4545094
Abstract: An extensible clasp is described for use with a continuous flexible wristlet, as for a watch. The clasp comprises first and second elongated portions that are connected by a hinge pin. The first portion is slightly curved to conform to the shape of a wrist and is formed of two parts that can slide along each other, with one part carrying the hinge pin at one end and being formed with a single hole near its other end, and the other part being formed with several aligned holes arranged selectively to register with the single hole. The second portion is also curved, but slightly more so, and carries a beak element which, upon the two portions being folded over each other to close the clasp, is pushed through a registering pair of holes to lock the clasp in a selected position.

  • Patent number: 4520537
Abstract: A gold jewelry clasp assembly is described, which includes a keeper for receiving a catch and retainer, wherein all of the elements are constructed to operate reliably over a long life time. The catch is formed of a tempered gold strip bent at its middle to form a folded leaf spring, and with one end of the strip bent into a loop around a pivoting wire retainer. The bending avoids a gold soldering operation on the strip which could degrade spring temper, and also permits welding of the retainer wire ends prior to attachment to the catch to facilitate heat sinking that minimizes loss of spring temper of the retainer. The keeper is formed of a drawn tub-shaped gold frame, with the edge that forms the opening of the tub-shaped frame, being cut away at opposite ends to leave a pair of projecting lips on opposite sides. A gold cover strip covers the opening of the frame, and the cover strip has a recess on either side that receives the frame lips in an interference fit.

  • Patent number: 4000542
Abstract: A three-element device for adjusting the length of a watchband having a main link larger than other length-adjusting links of the device and the watchband which is connected to two foldable-elements of the device foldable over one another to define a closure. The three elements form a three-element fitting normally connected to intermediate ends of a watchband. The main link is easily connectable to the watchband and can be disconnected thereto to provide for insertion of similarly constructed shorter length-adjusting links. Each of the links has a top and sidewalls opposite each other that are provided with openings through which a spring-loaded pin is inserted through a connecting extension on each link that is insertable on the underside of an adjacent link so that the pin is received through this extension and links adjacent length-adjusting links of the device. The links may be provided with a leading tongue that limits the relative movement of the links.
