  • Patent number: 6115891
Abstract: In manufacturing a continuous surface fastener tape on an injection molding machine, a male engaging portion is injection molded on one surface of a continuous substrate sheet of thermoplastic resin at one longitudinal margin, and an adhesive agent is applied to the other surface of the substrate sheet at the other longitudinal margin to form an adhesive layer. The surface fastener tape is stored in superposed form, such as in roll or in stack, and can be out into individual surface fastener pieces for use as it is demanded. In production, molten resin is continuously injected to the die wheel from an injection nozzle to mold the continuous surface fastener tape, and the adhesive layer is formed on the surface fastener tape using an adhesive-agent applicator.

  • Patent number: 5964399
Abstract: A reclosable fastener having first members on a first side of the separation of an envelope, package, box or the like caused by the removal of a tear strip. In a first embodiment, a base is connected by a tether to a movable element. A similar base is placed on the other side. When the movable element is caused to engage the second base the tether acts to seal the separation. In a second embodiment, individual non-connected bases are set transverse to the separation. A series of locking members joined to form a band are connected to the other side of the separation by adhesive materials. The band is positioned across the separation to close it and the locking members are joined to the non-connected bases. As many non-connected bases and locking members as needed to close a particular separation can be used.

  • Patent number: 5769683
Abstract: A method of attaching a tether to a balloon is described. The method comprises pinching or flexing a metalized sheet balloon attached to one or more adhesive layers, or one more double-sided adhesive strips. The flexing causes outward-facing pressure sensitive adhesive layers disposed on the balloon, or on the strips, to oppose each other in a pincers movement, so as to surround and grip the tether. The strips themselves are previously attached to the balloon by inward-facing adhesive layers through a simple slapping motion. The removable sheet is easily peeled away prior to the flexing. The invention is also a fastener for attaching a balloon to a tether, and a balloon system including the fastener.

  • Patent number: 4097627
Abstract: Diaper tab stock comprises a unitary substrate extending, transversely to machine direction, along first and second endward length portions separated by a third intermediate length portion, with adhesive on its topside at the first endward length portion, on its bottom side at the second endward length portion, and on neither side at the third intermediate length portion which separates the other two. A release coating on the bottom side of the first length portion extends partly onto the intermediate third length portion but stops short of the second length portion. In a preferred method of manufacture and use, a release coating on the top side of the second length portion serves as a releasing support both for the adhesive which ends up on the bottom side of the second length portion and then for the adhesive on the first length portion when the first length portion is folded onto the second length portion.

  • Patent number: 4051853
Abstract: A disposable diaper comprising, an absorbent pad assembly, and a tape fastener comprising an elongated pressure-sensitive tape strip having a first section attached to a surface of the pad assembly and a second securement section extending from the first section in a longitudinal direction of the tape strip for securing the diaper about an infant. The tape strip has a backing of a non-reinforced, extensible polymeric film, with the film having an ultimate elongation of greater than 50% in the longitudinal direction of the tape strip, and having modulus properties such that the film has an elongation of 50% at 5-10 lbs./in. width of force as applied to the second section of the tape strip in the longitudinal direction thereof.

  • Patent number: 4049001
Abstract: A disposable diaper has an improved tape tab fastening means in which a first securing tape ribbon has a free end and a fixed end which is attached to the diaper. A second securing tape ribbon has a free working end, and a fixed end which is adhesively but releasably attached to the free end of the first securing tape ribbon. One face of the second securing tape ribbon is provided with an adhesive coating. The free end of the first securing tape ribbon is adapted to secure the diaper about an infant by adhesive attachment via the adhesive-coated face of the second securing tape ribbon. The free end of the first securing tape ribbon is separable from the fixed end of the second securing tape ribbon to permit the opening of an applied diaper for inspection, and to make the adhesive coating on the free end of the first securing tape ribbon available for use in refastening the diaper about the infant.
