The system includes a hydraulic lubricant pump that is actuated by the main hydraulic control system by means of which the jaws of the shears are opened and closed, and may include a sequential valve to distribute lubricant to various wear portions in sequential fashion. The lubricating system may lubricate one or more wear surfaces of the lateral blade stabilizers, primary and secondary blade(s) on the upper and/or lower jaws, pivotal connections between jaws and/or between the upper jaw and the hydraulic cylinder, and a forward wear plate. The lubricating system may be retrofitted onto a conventional non-lubricated shears by replacing a conventional upper jaw with a lubricated upper jaw and lubricating system.

  • Patent number: 7306177
Abstract: A cutting implement (1) includes a plurality of sets of jaws (3) which cut a single length of material at a plurality of separate positions along the length of the material. A single actuation of the implement (1) causes each of the jaws (3) to at least partially and consecutively close. The consecutive closing of adjacent jaws (3) places a first jaw in a cutting configuration and a second, immediately adjacent jaw in a clamping configuration. The cutting implement (1) is connected to and actuated by the actuator arm of an excavator (9).

  • Patent number: 7284718
Abstract: A heavy-duty demolition apparatus for attachment to the boom structure of an excavator, the apparatus having interchangeable jaw sets. The apparatus includes a unitary jaw assembly, having a pair of pivoting jaws connected by a main pivot pin; a first adaptor on the boom structure; a second adaptor on the jaw assembly, the second adaptor engaging the first adaptor, so that the jaw assembly can be easily removed as a unit from the boom structure and another jaw assembly installed on the boom structure; and a lock pin fixed to the first adapter and engaging the second adapter to maintain the jaw assembly in locked relationship to the boom structure. Because of the structure of the apparatus, the distance between the attachment point of the hydraulic ram on the boom structure and the main pivot point of the jaw assembly can be varied between interchangeable jaw assemblies.

  • Patent number: 7237738
Abstract: A demolition cutter which can smoothly cut an object while eliminating the possibility of any gap being formed between mating surfaces having cutting edges. The cutter includes an arm pin 8 extending between a pair of side plates 6 of a movable bracket 3. Two arms 9a and 9b are mounted on the arm pin 8 so as to be pivotable about the pin 8 between open and closed positions. Cylinders 14a and 14b are connected to the arms 9a and 9b, respectively. The arms 9a and 9b have mating surfaces 11 formed with cutting edges adapted to cut an object when they cross each other. The cylinders 14a and 14b have their axes offset outwardly from the mating surfaces 11 so that when the cylinders are extended, the arms 9a and 9b are closed with their mating surfaces 11 in close contact with each other. This prevents the formation of a gap between the mating surfaces during cutting.

  • Patent number: 7234659
Abstract: An automatically swiveling crushing apparatus has a swiveling motor in a bracket, and branches diverged from charging and discharging paths that constitute the hydraulic piping leading to a cylinder for closing or opening distal crushing arms. One of the branches extends from one of the paths then operating to open the end arms, so that a portion of the hydraulic fluid is fed to the hydraulic motor if and when internal pressure in this branch has exceeded an upper limit. The other branch extends from the other path leading to the cylinder so as to close the end arms, and this branch prevents any amount of hydraulic fluid from flowing back to the motor. The branches render dispensable a discrete or independent hydraulic piping in a self-propelled platform having a proximal working arm to be connected to the apparatus, saving cost and labor in connecting this arm to the apparatus.

Abstract: A bucket for crushing and screening stone and similar materials. The bucket has a scoop-shaped body defining an inlet opening for the stone to be crushed and an outlet opening for the crushed stone, between which a direction of flow of the stone is defined. The bucket further has a stone-crushing mechanism including a first jaw and a second jaw housed in the scoop-shaped body and movable relative to one another. The bucket still further has an element for moving the first jaw relative to the second jaw. The element imparts to the first jaw a combined rotational and translational movement relative to the second jaw in which a first component of the movement is away from and towards the second jaw and a second component of the movement is substantially parallel to the direction of flow.

Abstract: A heavy-duty demolition shear for attachment to the boom structure and hydraulic system of an excavator, has a rigid lower jaw and an upper jaw and pivot interconnecting the jaws together. The shear is attachable to the boom structure of the excavator. The upper jaw has upper shear blades, while the lower jaw has at least one lower shear blade. The lower jaw also has a rigid guide blade lying along the lower shear blade and in spaced relation therewith. The outer ends of the shear blade and guide blade are co-extensively opposed to each other so that a tie plate secures the outer ends of the lower shear blade and the guide blade together. There is an open slot between the lower shear blade and the adjacent guide blade to receive the upper shear blade and upper jaw therein. The upper jaw has a cylinder attached to the hydraulic system of the excavator for closing and opening the upper jaw relative to the lower jaw.
