  • Patent number: 11697120
Abstract: An impact crusher for grinding and separating solid material has a base and a rotor on the base having an upright shaft defining an upright rotor axis about which the rotor is rotatable and a plurality of vertically spaced and radially horizontally outwardly extending plates each having an outer periphery. A drum fixed on the base spacedly surrounds the rotor. An array of axially extending and angularly substantially equispaced replaceable ribs is provided on an inner surface of the drum. A respective plurality of impact hammers are angularly substantially equispaced around the outer periphery of each of the disks. Respective mounting pivots support the hammers on the outer peripheries of the plates for pivoting about respective hammer axes parallel to the rotor axis so that rotation of the rotor grinds material between the hammers and the ribs. Formations between the mounting pivots and the respective disks enable radial adjustment and fixing of the hammer axes relative to the rotor axis.

  • Patent number: 5829692
Abstract: A modularly tiered clear-trajectory impact commuter apparatus that comminutes rock, drilling materials and other comminutable by impact rather than by grinding or crushing. The invention creates a comminution environment which maximizes the establishment of a clear essentially tangential trajectory for the material between the orbit of each spinning blade and a single rectangular breaker bar. The modular vertical series coupling of the modularly tiered clear-trajectory impact comminuter apparatus may be adjusted to accommodate the material throughput for any environment whereby, for any given size of comminution chamber and rotary blade configuration, any number of tierable, modular comminution chambers may be vertically tiered for achieving the desired material throughput in relation to the load of comminutable material.

  • Patent number: 5732894
Abstract: A micronizer includes a housing having a chamber in which a vertical array of impeller discs is disposed. Impact members are disposed on the impeller discs. One, or more, of the impellers have impact members that overhang circular peripheral edges of the impeller discs. The rotational speed of the array of impeller discs may be varied by adjusting the speed of a variable drive motor. The rate of air flow through the array of impeller discs may be varied by adjusting the speed of a fan, which is independent of the speed of the array drive. A plurality of air deflector plates mechanically cause downward force vectors to deflect a combined pulverulent air-material mixture downwardly toward said rotating impact members.

Abstract: A mill (10) for grinding garbage or like material is disclosed including grinding rotors (48-50) rotatably fixed to and longitudinally adjustable on a shaft (44) rotatable in a grinding chamber (26). Each of the rotors (48-50) include a multiplicity of arms (64) extending radially from a circular disc (54). The arms (64) have replaceable tips (284) including first and second legs (288, 290) forming an L-shaped body portion. First and second bolts (308) extend through apertures (310) in the arm (64) and are threaded into apertures (312) in the first leg (288). A third bolt (314) extends through a counterbore (320) and an aperture (316) in the second leg (290) and is threaded into aperture (318) of the radially outer end of the arm (64). Material anti-wrap provisions (140) in the form of wing plates (240) oriented to extend generally radially from the shaft (44) are provided between the top plate (28) and the first rotor (28) and also between the rotors (48-50).

Abstract: A mill (10) for grinding garbage is disclosed including an octagonal shaped grinding chamber (26). Grinding rotors (48-50) are rotatably fixed to a rotatable shaft (44). An impeller rotor (51) is also rotatably fixed to the shaft (44) below the grinding rotors (48-50). The impeller rotor (51) discharges a stream of air, entrapped material, and projectiles into a projectile deflection device (182) which includes an upwardly sloping bottom plate (202) which deflects the projectiles into an end plate (204) to reduce the kinetic energy thereof. The air stream and entrapped material pass from the projectile deflection device (182) into a plenum (210) which reduces the velocity of the air stream to release much of the entrapped material, with the material release being enhanced by baffles (224) providing a tortuous path for the air stream in the plenum (210) before it enters a cyclonic material separator (216).
