  • Patent number: 10556239
Abstract: An example method for operating a plant, which has at least one assembly with a rotating surface that wears to an increasing extent during the operation of the plant, may involve evaluating a wear state of the rotating surface of the assembly. Based on the wear state of the rotating surface, a manner in which the plant is operated may be modified to prolong the running time of the assembly until, for instance, a next-scheduled service or maintenance interval. The modified manner of operating the plant may be adapted to the wear state of the rotating surface. Several examples of such modifications include changing a quantity of water sprayed onto material to be comminuted, changing a quantity of grinding additive added to material to be comminuted, and/or changing a contact pressure of a grinding roll of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 4746070
Abstract: The two feed rolls of a roll refiner comprising at least four rolls for processing viscous materials, such as chocolate masses, are regulated with respect to their rotational speeds by means of a suitable regulating system. The two feed rolls rotate in a fixed speed ratio to each other at speeds determined by the prevailing operating conditions. The particle size and/or the output quantity of the processed material may be held constant by this regulation.

  • Patent number: 4635861
Abstract: A roller mill, in which the milling rollers are pressed together with high pressures, has a fluidic device for imparting the respective pressure. This fluidic device comprises piston-cylinder units and a pressure line for the fluid. In order to obtain a skewing of at least one roller in dependency upon the pressure exerted by the fluidic device, pressure sensitive means are interposed between the pressure line and a displacing device for the skewing angle. In this way, a pressure signal may be transferred to a converter for converting the pressure into a corresponding displacement stroke. Preferably, at least one roller has a basic camber or crown which corresponds to a pressure within a lower range of the occurring pressures.

  • Patent number: 4295614
Abstract: For use in a grain feed system at a grain processing plant, the preferred and illustrated embodiment discloses a pneumatically powered control system connected to a gate in the grain processing apparatus to open the gate and further discloses a pneumatically operated grain processing apparatus. The control system responds to the presence of grain. As the grain flows through the processing equipment, the gate and processing apparatus are maintained in an operative state. On sensing the absence of grain, the sensor triggers signals which close the hopper supply system for grain and disables the grain processing equipment.

  • Patent number: 4192471
Abstract: Crushing apparatus employs a pair of rotatable crusher drums mounted to rotate about vertical axes to crush material such as mineral ore, fed through a gap between the drums by means such as scraper-chain conveyor. The drums are mounted on pivoting rocker arms which are adjustable to vary the crushing gap. The drums are hollow and are driven in opposite directions by hydraulic drive motors located inside the drums. Conveniently, the hydraulic motors have rotors connected to radial flanges inside the drums and stators fixed to the rocker arms.

  • Patent number: 4187991
Abstract: In the case of overloading of a gyratory crusher the manometer 14 detects a mean effective pressure of the hydraulic fluid in the cylinder 7 greater than a first limiting value, which causes the opening of the maximum pressure valve 18. The hydraulic fluid then flows into the hydraulic accumulator 22, previously filled with a gas at a pressure substantially equal to the said first limiting value. When the overloading is terminated, the maximum pressure valve 18 re-closes and the hydraulic fluid returns by the return branch 24 into the pressure chamber of the cylinder 7. In the case of very substantial overloading capable of damaging the apparatus, the manometer 26 causes the opening of the safety valve 29.

  • Patent number: 4154408
Abstract: A device for normally maintaining a predetermined, set spacing between two associated flaking rollers of a flaking mill and for allowing the two rollers to spread apart from one another if unflakable material of a size larger than the predetermined, set spacing between the two rollers is fed therebetween. A hydraulic piston having a manually adjustable stop is mounted between the two rollers so as to maintain a predetermined, set spacing between the two rollers. A gas piston is associated with the hydraulic piston to act as a shock absorber if any unflakable material of a size larger than the predetermined, set spacing between the two rollers is fed therebetween to allow the two rollers to spread apart. The gas piston is preloaded to a pressure substantially greater than the pressure normally required to flake the material being fed between the two rollers.

  • Patent number: 4074866
Abstract: A conventional rolling or crushing mill is provided with a fixed roller and an adjustable roller carried in a pivotable support to allow adjustment of the size of a nip formed between the rollers. Adjustment of the nip dimension is accomplished by operatively connecting the pivotable support between an upper and a lower threaded nut carried on a pivotably mounted threaded rod. Between the connection between the pivotable roller support and the lower nut is a hydraulically actuated cylinder into which is introduced a hydraulic fluid at a selected pressure from a supply to maintain the support against the upper nut under pressure and thereby maintain the adjustable roller under a like pressure during the crushing operation. If a foreign object becomes engaged in the nip, whereby the crushing pressure is exceeded, the size of the nip increases forcing fluid from the cylinder and into an accumulator connected in the supply so as to allow the foreign object to pass without unduly damaging the rollers.
