Including Plastic Patents (Class 241/24.18)
  • Patent number: 6629653
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for separating tenaciously elastic materials such as plastics and rubber from materials tearing and/or defiberizing under high mechanical stress, particularly paper, and to a device for performing said process. The process is characterized in that the mixture of materials to be separated is subjected to high radial, axial and tangential acceleration forces, whereby a mass flow of shredded fibrous material and a mass flow of substantially unshredded plastics is withdrawn separately. The device for performing the process consists of a screen basket which is cylindrical or preferably polygonal in shape and has borings in its jacket to let the defiberized material pass through, a rotatable driving shaft being arranged coaxially inside the screen basket, with blades being attached to said driving shaft, preferably in rigid connection.

  • Publication number: 20030106949
Abstract: The process applies to synthetic-grass floorings of the type comprising a sheet substrate with a plurality of filiform formations extending from the substrate to simulate natural-grass cover or turf, the substrate and the filiform formations being made of plastic material, as well as a particulate filling material or infill dispersed between the filiform formations so as to maintain the filiform formations in a substantially erect condition. The process comprises the operations of removing the synthetic-grass flooring from the laid condition and subjecting the sheet substrate and the filiform formations to shredding so as to produce a salvaged particulate material. This salvaged particulate material can then be used as component of the particulate filling material or infill in a synthetic-grass flooring that is to be newly laid.

  • Patent number: 6568612
Abstract: A waste disposal apparatus comprising a crushing means for crushing waste including a circuit board into fragments, and a circuit board sorting means for sorting fragments of the circuit board from the fragments of the waste crushed by the crushing means through eddy current sorting or gravity concentration so as overcome a difficulty in separation between nonferrous metals. With this arrangement, lead contained in the circuit boards can be sorted and separated without being diffused, and further, the volume of fragments of the circuit boards adapted to be mingled into fragments of other waste such as nonferrous metals and plastics can be decreased. Thus, even though waste including circuit board is directly crushed by the crushing means, thereby it is possible to enhance the quality of recovered valuables.

  • Patent number: 6527206
Abstract: A method for processing mixed waste in a continuously operating processing plant comprising a plurality of successive stations which are connected to each other by means of at least one conveyor segment and wherein the mixed waste material is processed in at least one step of the inventive method and/or conveyed along at least one conveyor section, whereby the particles in the stream of mixed waste are accelerated at least in one transfer site between a conveyor section or one transfer site between two conveyor sections. Also disclosed is a processing plant for implementing said method and buffer silos which are used in the plant.

  • Patent number: 6467708
Abstract: A method for processing municipal waste substantially reduces the volume of material to be disposed into a landfill by increasing the volume of materials of value collected from the municipal waste and by composting the remaining materials to create a salable product. The process includes the removal of materials of value by magnetic devices to extract ferrous materials, by an air classifier to extract light plastic materials, by an eddy current mechanism to extract aluminum materials, and by a plastic sort mechanism to extract large plastic materials. Composting can be accomplished with a composting vessel that is located in the process either before the materials of value are removed or afterward. A grinding of the materials before a final screening allows the commercial grade compost to be separated from the materials that are to be sent to the landfill for final disposal.

  • Patent number: 6372173
Abstract: Process for production of three-dimensional objects by stereolithography in which a laser hardens particular areas of constantly succeeding layers of resin fluid. Prior to or during laser light action, the particles, which define physical or mechanical qualities of the object-to-be-produced, will be added into, and/or alternatively, will be produced within the resin fluid, leading to a resin-fluid-particle-mixture. The particles are integrated into the resin and/or compound with resin and/or other particles by means of laser light action or ultrasonic mixing.

  • Patent number: 6306222
Abstract: A process for cleaning plastic materials is disclosed, in which foreign materials adhered on and internally intruded into the plastic materials are cleaned to recycle the plastic materials. The process for cleaning plastics to recycle them according to the present invention includes the following steps. (1) A first cleaning is carried out on roughly crushed plastics of a size of 2-3 cm by using a solvent within a dumbler. (2) The solvent is discharged out of the dumbler after the first cleaning. (3) A second cleaning is carried out on the plastics by using a solvent within the dumbler after the first cleaning. (4) The solvent is discharged out of the dumbler after the second cleaning. (5) The plastics are dried after the second cleaning by injecting a heated nitrogen gas into the dumbler. (6) The nitrogen gas is discharged out of the dumbler under a reduced pressure, whereby contamination materials adhered on surfaces and internally intruded are cleaned.

  • Publication number: 20010023903
Abstract: A process for recycling a material containing high-tenacity fibers impregnated with a resin matrix includes introducing the material containing the high-tenacity fibers and the resin matrix into a hammer mill having a shaft mounted with at least three series or stages of hammers and a substantially cylindrical sieve disposed substantially concentrically around the shaft, milling the material for a time sufficient to grind at least about 50%, and preferably at least about 80%, of the resin into small particles, and separating the small resin particles from the fibers by means of the sieve. This process allows a very high degree of separation and does not require additional process steps like cryogenical chilling.

  • Patent number: 6168642
Abstract: A recycling process for garbage containing a high proportion of paper where printed paper is first separated from the garbage. The garbage is then into pieces and light and heavy components are separated out in a classification tank. The remaining organic mass suspended in water is hydrolyzed and subjected to anaerobic digestion followed by aerobic co-composting. The resulting solid is a high grade fertilizer while biogas produced by the process is converted to electrical energy in a combined cycle installation.
