Abstract: The invention relates to a shredding apparatus for use in shredding a material mass into a plurality of discrete particles. The principal components includes a shredding screen and wiper blades. The wiper blade include a semi-rigid blade having its lower end in firm contact with said shredding screen. Reciprocating means is fixed to the shredding screen means to provide reciprocating motion of the shredding screen relative to said wiper blade. The reciprocating means produces a length of travel of said shredding screen at least equal to the space between an adjacent pair of wiper blades. Each of said wiper blades are parallel to each other and to a first set of spaced parallel bars. A second set of spaced parallel bars are substantially perpendicular to the first set of spaced parallel bars thereby forming a plurality of openings having a predetermined cross-sectional area substantially equal to the required cross-sectional area of said discrete particles.

Abstract: A crusher for reducing the size of pieces of rock, concrete and the like is disclosed. A pair of resonant beams are suspended at their upper nodes from the upper end of a frame. The beams are driven by an oscillatory driver which engages the beams near their anti-nodes. A pair of opposed jaws are mounted at the lower ends of the beams and their mutual, reciprocal action applies compressive forces to material fed therebetween which causes the material to break apart. The jaws may be moved apart by a pair of hydraulic cylinders to allow adjustment of the material size discharged from the crusher. The hydraulic system actuating the cylinders is especially adapted to absorb shock imparted by the reactive forces of the jaws against the material being crushed.

Abstract: A device for crushing, pulverizing, classifying and dedusting dry grind or dewatering wet grind ores. The ore is fed into a trough in which is seated crusher, spacer and pulverizer bars vibrated by an electromagnet energized by a low frequency electric pulse generator. The ore, receiving repeated blows as it is vibrated between the bars and the bottom floor of the trough, is reduced in size and moved along the trough for classifying and dedusting dry grind or classifying and dewatering wet grind.

Abstract: A compact can crusher in which used beverage cans and the like are dropped into a chute and are crushed flat between an oscillating crusher plate and a wall of the chute, the crushed cans being dropped through an open lower end of the chute. A drive motor is coupled to the crusher plate to apply maximum thrust at opposite ends of the oscillating stroke, so that cans are effectively flattened to a minimum thickness. In one form spring stored energy adds to the initial crushing action when the most pressure is needed, and provision is made to prevent cans from jamming in the chute and to prevent the mechanism from being jammed by articles which are not readily crushed.

Abstract: A versatile food preparing machine which includes various attachments for selectively processing many different kinds of foods. The machine is characterized by incorporating a bottomless hopper and a food support pad for restingly supporting the food at various levels as it protrudes downwardly from the hopper. An interchangeable reciprocatable food processable element, e.g., a knife or shredder/grater element, etc., workingly engages the food by cyclically moving between the hopper and the adjustable food support pad, e.g., whereby slices of various thicknesses may be made from certain kinds of foods. Ejector structure cyclically ejects particles of the processed food, e.g., slices of okra and the like, downwardly away from the food processable element. Particular structure is also included for collecting the ejected slices of food to facilitate subsequent storage thereof in a food freezer.

Abstract: A plurality of rigid first comminuting elements are located in a container for material to be comminuted, and are stationarily mounted with reference to the container. A plurality of second comminuting elements are also located in the container and each of these confronts at least one of the first elements with spacing from the same. Resiliently yieldable springs mount each of the second elements for swinging movements relative to the first elements, so as to crush material in the gap by cooperation between the first and second elements. A drive is provided for imparting vibratory swinging movements to the second elements.
