  • Patent number: 7726597
Abstract: An improved vertical shaft impactor rock crusher is provided. The improvement comprises an anvil having a front impact surface, a planar rear surface and a side surface extending between the front and rear surfaces. A shaft extends from the rear surface and can have a polygonal shaped cam lobe at the end of the shaft. When seated in the slot of a hanger bracket, the cam lobe keeps the anvil secured to the bracket while a side of the cam lobe rests on a seating block attached to the bracket to hold the anvil in an indexed position. When the impact surface becomes worn from use in the rock crusher, the anvil can be rotated within the bracket so that the cam lobe rests on an adjacent side thereby presenting an unworn surface to fracture feed rock in the rock crusher.

Abstract: An air knife module assembly and a replaceable wear plate member are provided for a cyclonic comminuting and dehydrating machine. The air knife and wear plate can be formed in a modular configuration with the wear plate being mountable into an opening formed in the side wall of the cylindrical chamber of the cyclonic comminuter. The air knife module can be formed separately of the wear plate member and mounted into an opening formed in the wear plate module. The wear plate module can be secured to the side wall of the cylindrical chamber by removable fasteners while the air knife module can be secured by clamping members mounted on the wear plate module. Sensors in the air discharge detecting hazardous material above a predetermined threshold are operable to affect a de-naturing of the ground material discharge for removal thereof from the discharged stream of material.

Abstract: Adjustable blades for wood chippers and cutters include one or more blades of selected length, thickness and width, fitted with one or more bevelled blade seats in the rear blade edge, which blade seats, in a first embodiment, receive corresponding bevelled inserts having threaded openings fitted with an insert mount screw and a pair of adjusting screws. The mount screws serve to seat the inserts firmly in the blade seats and reverse-manipulation of the adjusting screws in the inserts provides adjustment of the fit of the adjustable blades in a cutting or chipping head, to compensate for re-sharpening of the blades.

  • Publication number: 20090314863
Abstract: Self-healing of a mechanical part in a mechanical system is provided, such as a self-healing part in a cutting apparatus. Differential hardness of respective parts in contact with each other is used. Undesirable damage from a foreign object in a mechanical system is managed by directing damage away from a part that is not wanted to be damaged and towards a part that may receive damage and be replaced. True zero-clearance cutting on a commercial scale is provided via a cutting area including a sacrifice material that is relatively softer than the cutter. One example is a cutting system which is capable of cutting a material such as, for example, tape or paper, into a fiber or powder. Destruction of the material is further enhanced by advantageous strategic patterning of cutting edges on a rotary cutter, and further by secondary shredding features.

Abstract: The apparatus is a gyratory crusher in which all the wear parts can be removed and replaced from the top of the crusher, thus eliminating the need to remove large, heavy parts from below the crusher. This is accomplished by constructing the crusher so that the eccentric and the piston assembly can be lifted up and out sequentially. The piston assembly then includes all the wear parts within the lowest assembly, the hydraulic support, so that those parts can be replaced without access to the underside of the crusher. If necessary, the hydraulic support within which the piston assembly is held can also be removed from above the crusher.

Abstract: Crushing finely the chipped rubber such as that of waste tire is done by further small number of crushers, and the capture rate of the target size of the rubber particles is improved. With a crusher which finely crushes the chipped rubber (G) such as that of waste tire, the chipped rubber (G) is supplied to a crusher (10a) structured by a rotating roll (12) having relatively rough groove pitch and pluralities of fixed blades (14) each of which has pluralities of grooves forming crushing edges, thus conducting crushing. The rubber particles (G) discharged from the crusher (10a) are again supplied to the crusher (10a) to repeat the crushing to conduct rough-finishing operation. Then, thus roughly-finished rubber particles (G) are treated by similar crushing operation using a rotating roll (10b) having relatively small groove pitch to conduct finish treatment. The finely-crushed rubber particles are classified using a sieve (16) to specified size ranges.
