  • Patent number: 10065338
Abstract: A method and a device for adjusting a knife assembly of a knife ring to a predetermined knife projection, wherein the knife assembly is designed to be arranged in the knife ring at a chip angle ?, relative to the inside of the knife ring. The knife assembly is formed by a knife holding plate and a chipping knife which are positively connected with one another in a predetermined, relative target position. A knife assembly to be adjusted is provided, wherein the knife holding plate and the chipping knife are displaceable relative to one another. The knife holding plate is displaced in its plane, transversely to its direction of longitudinal extension towards its rear edge, against a first stop. The chipping knife is displaced in its plane against the stop surface of a second stop, until the predetermined knife projection has been reached.

Abstract: Milling apparatus for reducing the size of grain kernels or particles by impact with a solid surface as the grain is moved through the apparatus by an air stream created by rotation of a rotor within a stationary casing having an inlet opening at or near the center and an outlet opening at the outer periphery. The rotor comprises a circular disk having a series of elements affixed to a surface thereof in a circular configuration spaced outwardly from the center of the rotor. The elements comprise sections of hollow steel tubing of rectangular cross section or toothed blades so arranged that grain traveling radially outwardly from the inlet to the outlet opening of the casing impact with the elements with a force sufficient to break the grain. The particles may be passed through additional rotor stages, and the particle size or texture of the final product may be controlled by the speed of rotor rotation and the number of rotor stages through which the grain is passed.

  • Patent number: 4252280
Abstract: The cylindrical rotating grate of an attrition mill is constructed by welding a group of bars in close spaced parallel relationship, and then rolling this assembly into a cylindrical configuration. The meeting ends of this configuration are then welded, and an opening is preferably cut from the rolled assembly. The area cut out in the process of forming the opening is used as a cover. The grate structure includes solid abutments interengagable with the cover to hold the cover in position against the large forces encountered during the operation of the mill, with relatively light securing means adapted to hold the cover in engagement with these abutments. A housing surrounding the rotating grate is provided with an opening through which the machine is charged with material, and this opening is covered by a curtain preferably provided with battens and a weight to hold it in position. A vacuum is applied to the interior housing for the removal of dust, which assists in holding the curtain in position.
