Gear Pair Patents (Class 242/263)
  • Patent number: 8905345
Abstract: A fixed spool fishing reel having a spool shaft with a coaxial hollow rotor shaft rotatable thereabout. The reel is further provided with a handle shaft which extends transversely of and is offset relative to the spool shaft. First and second mutually orthogonal gears are coupled for rotation with the handle shaft, the first gear having an axis of rotation which is transverse of and offset from the spool shaft. Likewise for third and fourth gears, with the third gear being on the opposite side of the spool shaft relative to the first gear. The axis of the third gear is closer to the spool than that of the first gear. Likewise the fourth is closer than the second. The rotor shaft can be driven by the handle shaft selectively via the first or the third gear to change the gearing ratio.

  • Patent number: 8113456
Abstract: In a speed-change operation mechanism, a main body of a lock member is disposed to produce a clearance between the main body and the surface of the handle arm, whereas a pivot operation part of the lock member is disposed to close a clearance between the main body and the surface of the handle arm and simultaneously to produce a clearance between the pivot operation part and the surface of the handle arm. A relatively large clearance is produced between the main body of the lock member and the surface of the handle arm, whereas a small clearance, just enough to allow a pivot operation of the lock member, is produced between the pivot operation part of the lock member and the surface of the handle arm.

  • Patent number: 7959100
Abstract: A double-gear driving mechanism for a reel unit comprises a reel chamber in which a rotor drive shaft is disposed longitudinally and a master gear shaft is disposed laterally. A main gear is formed around a periphery of the drive shaft, and a first master gear is fixed on one end of the master gear shaft. A crank handle is connected to a male thread portion of the master gear shaft. The inner teeth around a periphery of the first master gear engage the teeth of the main gear. An idle pinion provided on the other side of the drive shaft in parallel and it engages the main gear. On the other end of the master gear shaft is fixed a second master gear, inner teeth of which engage the teeth of the idle pinion. The present invention provides a double-gear drive mode of the rotor drive shaft by using the idle pinion. This increases the lifting capability of the rotor drive shaft while the original strength of the pinion teeth still remaining unchanged.

  • Patent number: 6702214
Abstract: A power transmission mechanism is for transmitting power from a handle of a spinning reel to an oscillating mechanism, and includes a pinion gear, a dual-stepped gear, and a driven gear. The pinion gear rotates in cooperation with rotation of the handle. The dual-stepped gear has a larger-diameter gear that is a helical-tooth gear and meshes with the pinion gear, and a smaller-diameter gear that is arranged coaxially with the larger-diameter gear and is formed unitarily with the larger-diameter gear. The smaller-diameter gear is a straight-tooth gear or a helical gear whose orientation is substantially the same as an orientation of the larger gear. The driven gear meshes with the smaller-diameter gear to rotate the oscillating mechanism. In a power transmission device in a fishing reel, manufacturing cost is reduced while suppressing noise.

  • Patent number: 6672526
Abstract: An automatic two-speed transmission for a fishing reel comprises a spool mounted on a spool shaft, a drive sleeve mounted on a drive shaft disposed parallel to the spool shaft. A low gear driver nonrotatably mounted on the drive shaft engages the low gear when the low gear rotates at a speed less than the drive shaft, the low gear driver disengaging from the low gear when the low gear rotates at a speed greater than the drive shaft. The low gear drives a low pinion gear that turns the spool. A high gear is disposed on the drive sleeve between clutch washers, the clutch washers providing frictional resistance against the high gear in order to engage the high gear, which in turn engages a high pinion gear that turns the spool. A tension preset device selectably adjusts the drive sleeve and the drive shaft axially relative to each other, squeezing the high gear between the clutch washers.

  • Patent number: 5259179
Abstract: When a full bobbin signal from a counter CCM counting the number of rotations of the front roller (3) is output, the control element (28) outputs a signal directed to the control motor (M2) of a unit (29) for reciprocating a bobbin rail (10). As a result, the rotation of the control motor (M2) is combined with the rotation of a differential gear (14 ) connected to the main motor (M1), so that a reciprocating movement of the bobbin rail (10) after the full bobbin state is obtained which is faster than that obtained during a usual taking up operation of the roving, which causes the roving to be wound on the bobbin in a much coarser state than usual. A limit switch (LSP) detects a predetermined desired position of the bobbin rail (10), and the control element (28) outputs a signal directed to the unit (29), whereby the main motor (M1) and the control motor (M2) are stopped.
