On Independent Spools Patents (Class 242/378.4)
  • Patent number: 6497378
Abstract: The present invention provides a wire-winding mechanism having dual wire outlets. The wire-winding mechanism comprises a box body, a wire-winding disk, a communication wire, and a scroll spring. The box body comprises a first and a second disk bodies pivotally joined together. The first disk body has a first wire-winding shaft. The second disk body has a shaft body and a second wire-winding shaft. The wire-winding disk is pivotally disposed in the box body. The communication wire is wound around the shaft body of the second disk body to form an inner ring portion. The communication wire is wound around the first wire-winding shaft of the first disk body to form a first outer ring portion, and is also wound around the second wire-winding shaft of the second disk body to form a second outer ring portion. The scroll spring is connected between the first and second disk bodies.

  • Patent number: 6416005
Abstract: A wire winding box for reducing radial friction, especially a wire winding box for reducing radial friction of a communication wire, is disclosed. A fixing piece is installed in the through hole in the wire winding ring of wire winding disk. The fixing piece serves to clamp and fix the communication wire passing through the through hole so that the communication wire in the wire winding ring can not be pulled. When one end of the communication wire is pulled from the wire winding box, the section of the communication wire in the wire winding ring can not be pulled out. Therefore, as the communication wire is wound back to the wire winding box, the frictions between different sections of the communication wire and between the communication wire and the wire winding ring will not occur. Therefore, the communication wire and the whole wire winding box have a longer lifetime.

  • Patent number: 6405961
Abstract: A storage assembly stores media, such as an optical fiber or the like, such that opposite ends of the media can be independently withdrawn. For example, one end may be withdrawn in one direction, with the second end remaining stationary, and then the second end may be withdrawn in another direction. The ends may be connected with respective network elements or the like for conducting testing or trouble-shooting, for example. When the media is no longer needed for the testing or trouble-shooting, the ends may be retracted back into the storage assembly. The entire unit is lightweight and portable. It can be suspended from above, placed on the floor, or held by a technician. Multiple storage assembly units may be packaged together into a single universal cabinet and secured into an appropriate area in a central office or laboratory environment.

  • Patent number: 6375109
Abstract: A wire winding box for short distance use is provided that includes a case with single receiving tank or two receiving tanks having a rotary disk rotatably installed therein which is driven by a spiral spring. A communication wire passes through a pivotal shaft for engaging with the rotary disk, then is bent through a proper angle, then is pulled to a ring of the rotary disk, and then is pulled out through the line outlet or is wound. As the rotary disk rotates, the wire will be wound around the ring and around the pivotal shaft to be pulled out or rewound rapidly. Additionally, a swingable piece and a ratchet wheel are partially overlapped and are pivotally installed in the receiving tank adjacent the rotary disk. Accordingly, through the regular action of alternatively pulling and releasing the communication wire can be easily positioned and rewound.

  • Patent number: 6289965
Abstract: A spring motor with an improved take-up drum and idler gear assembly is disclosed. The spring motor includes a take-up drum proximate a drive drum with a coil spring interconnected between the two. First and second cord spools are mounted for rotation laterally adjacent the drive drum and take-up drum. The take-up drum is mounted about an idler gear which transfers torque from the first cord spool to the drive drum. Both the take-up drum and the idler gear are independently rotatable and are supported for rotation on first and second respective sides of each to thereby minimize binding between the idler gear and the take-up drum.

  • Patent number: 6179238
Abstract: A reeling device is provided which allows an electrical lead to be wound up without the need for slip-rings. The lead is partially wound around a spool and is electrically connected to contacts in a spindle, about which the spool rotates. A portion of the lead is sprung and is loaded as the spool rotates to pay out the lead. A ratchet and pawl mechanism is provided to lock the lead in its extended configuration. The ratchet and pawl mechanism can be relased so that the lead is retracted using the energy stored in the sprung portion of the lead. A pair of the reeling devices may be combined back-to-back to provide convenient storage for earpiece and plug leads for a headset. The reeling device may also be integrated into a portable electronic apparatus for storing earpiece or microphone leads.
